“Reliable task and workflow tracking
Pros
Our team really values Hive's reliable task tracking and automated workflows. It lets our small agency securely manage property documents and set up file monitoring systems between different departments.
Cons
Getting new staff up to speed can be challenging. Plus we occasionally run into bugs that disrupt our workflow so much we need extra support to fix them and minimize downtime.

“A fantastic and simple addition
Pros
Hive has been a fantastic addition for our team. It is simple to get the hang of, can be tailored to individual preferences and they are always rolling out new improvements.
Cons
The mobile app really needs an upgrade, I noticed it is missing some key features that the desktop version has, like proper email and calendar integration.

“Flexible tool
Pros
What I really like is how it gives every team member the flexibility to work in a way that suits them best. There is almost no learning curve, overall it is a user friendly platform with a customizable layout. The third-party integrations are great too especially having email and chat built right in. HiveMind, the AI assistant is another powerful feature that's the best for content creation.
Cons
As per me the price can get a bit high if you need advanced features and the mobile application definitely has room for improvement.

“Simplifies and visualizes our workflow
Pros
It really simplifies and visualizes our project workflow. For program coordination, we rely on its task layouts and Gantt charts to track deadlines and assign work. Plus our team loves the transparency it provides.
Cons
Using it on a phone can feel a bit awkward sometimes. Notifications also do not sync reliably across all my devices.

“Fundamental project management tool
Pros
For over four years, Hive has been a fundamental tool for managing our organization's projects. Also I love that it automates our project and team management processes without any manual effort.
Cons
While it has strong backend integration, it is not quite equipped to handle the needs of a large global company.

“Missing fundamental and essential tools
Pros
At the Omnicom agency where I worked, everyone agreed that Hive was missing fundamental tools. They'd rush out poorly designed new features every week to address complaints, which just created annoying new bugs. The only upside was that we were all united in our frustration. I used it through 2022 and changed jobs in 2023. And now not having to use it anymore is a huge relief.
Cons
The platform was missing essential tools like cut, copy, paste and undo. I mean if an application cannot manage these basics, you should stay far away. It was clear the developers skipped fundamental research, leaving out many expected capabilities. A small but telling example was the inability to see a total comment count during a review cycle, forcing us to manually tally feedback. Plus their approach of pushing out new features every week in a panic just revealed a complete lack of proper planning and coding discipline. This was a major problem because every update introduced a fresh wave of glitches, wasting 2 to 5 hours per person each week as we documented problems and devised clumsy fixes. So we lost all faith in its reliability. The bugs were a relentless, baffling parade. Such as the entire week would vanish from the timeline view and when the feature was partially restored, our historical data remained corrupted. In another maddening glitch, every task labeled Client Review would suddenly jump to the bottom of the project timeline, appearing after the completion date and we had to manually drag them all back into place. The review routing system was a disaster too as it would freeze, showing the wrong person as reviewing and notifications would not send. The only fix was to delete everyone from the approval chain, losing all their sign-offs and then re-add them manually. It got even worse when the bug started assigning reviewers to the wrong teams. Our agency wanted to abandon this tool entirely but we were locked in by a corporate-wide contract. This entire ordeal reminded me of a failed software project I once took over where the core code was so poorly built that the only solution was to scrap everything and begin again from scratch.

“Good support but confusing design
Pros
Their support team is very good and I find the Gantt charts for project planning quite helpful.
Cons
The design is confusing and inconsistent, making every task take more time and clicks than it should. It is especially difficult for neurodiverse people to use because of its poor layout. The platform is also glitchy and hard to learn. I often cannot tell if a problem is a software bug or just me making a mistake because the design is so unclear. Overall it wastes so much time that it makes me dread my work.

“a five-year backlog of bugs they won't fix
Pros
Nothing good at all but yes if you complain about Hive online, their support team might quickly email you, asking for free advice on how to improve.
Cons
The platform says it's built on user feedback but this means paying customers have to test unfinished software. Their forum has a 5-year backlog of unfixed bugs. Instead of fixing problems, they keep repackaging old, broken features as new. It fails at basic tasks. For example, if a project's timeline changes, you have to manually adjust every task date unless you pay for an add-on. Even then, you have to set up the add-on yourself and it often doesn't work because they don't test things properly.

“Helpful layout
Pros
I really like the different layout options. The Teams view is most helpful for me because I can follow tasks as they move between departments. The Gantt chart is also a great bonus for getting a high-level overview.
Cons
The time tracking is not great and it's difficult to get a clear overview of our daily or weekly time allocation across different projects.
