My verdict is that this product felt simple and user friendly.

Cons

Syncing dates with Atlassian Jira is not the easiest thing. I had to manually link epics to bars in ProductPlan. Customer service was poor.

Collaborating, creating roadmaps and providing detailed information across product managers is quite easy with ProductPlan. The platform enables efficient collaboration and information sharing.

Cons

It would be great if the software offered more customization options and had dedicated fields for specifying the importance of certain features. Additionally, making copies of roadmaps should be a simpler process.

Pros

ProductPlan provides useful tools for building roadmaps faster and more efficiently for both development teams and clients. It lets us discuss ideas with each client and map out how a project will move forward, including its main milestones and the details that need priority. Custom roadmaps make it easier for the team to track progress and help customers see how development is expected to unfold. When something needs to change, we can update the plan without starting over. There is more to the product than roadmaps, too. It supports teamwork, helps create a better workflow and lets us divide up project tasks or development work. With each team member focused on particular tasks, productivity improves and the workload feels less heavy. I also appreciate its simple, customizable interface and how easy it is to use which saves time that would otherwise go toward hours of planning and design.

Available features make it easier to plan different kinds of projects but a wider, more customizable timeline view would be useful. It would also help if organization could be automated since handling that process manually takes time. It would be more convenient to see all the roadmaps included in a project from one window instead of having to return to the main screen. That would save time and make the software easier to use.

What I really like is that their Gantt-style roadmaps offer us a nice visual overview.

Cons

The prioritization tool is hard to use and makes it difficult to get an overview. It's also very poor that SSO requires an extra payment.

I appreciate how easy it is to build polished roadmaps that communicate the right story to each stakeholder group. ProductPlan manages to remain simple to use while still giving us plenty of flexibility. This tool has been incredibly helpful for keeping different business teams aligned and coordinated. Dragging items along the timeline makes prioritization discussions easier. We can clearly see when we have too much in flight and need to make difficult choices. It's the first tool I've used that makes it easy to explain the full process of delivering a product. Roadmap plans need to be shared beyond Product and Development like Marketing, Sales, Services and Support also need to coordinate for a successful release. ProductPlan lets me show dependencies and track activities clearly, helping keep the whole business accountable.

Well-developed swimlanes make it simple to move tasks around especially when we're responsible for managing several teams at once.

Getting used to the scrolling can be a little difficult at first but it soon feels familiar. Overall, the software is good to use.

Roadmaps are quick to edit with changes taking under a minute. The tool is simple to use and makes it hard to make a mistake. I enjoy working in it. The roadmaps look polished enough for presentations. Zooming in and out works well at different levels.

Cons

Sharing roadmaps is supported but people often get confused and assume they have to pay for a license. Milestones can make my roadmaps look worse and I wish I could hide them or have more control over how they appear.

It's easy to set up and running right away. I haven't explored all of the available configurations but I can use it to bring the projects currently in flight together in one consolidated view.

I haven't spent time with the integrations yet but I'd like to give the Jira integration a try and see whether it's worthwhile. The drag-and-drop experience can be glitchy at times although the team is responsive when suggestions are shared.

Setting up the tool and mapping our processes was very easy. It fits our "two pizza team" software approach well and its JIRA and Slack integrations matter to our team.

At first, we had large product backlogs that led to some slowness though later releases fixed the problem.

Many people looking for software want a tool that can manage everything but that often brings complexity, training and makes it hard to replace a resource without losing the roadmap and its updates. ProductPlan is simple to get started with and sharing dynamic views with others is quick. I can build a detailed roadmap without training and learn as I go, adding features or details without starting over. Tools with lots of management features can be hard to use without plenty of practice and training and difficult to show to people unfamiliar with them. The roadmap templates are helpful too since they prompt you to consider details you might miss when starting with a blank page.

Cons

Importing a spreadsheet to create an initial roadmap isn't possible which I didn't like. I'd also like to assign budget amounts and report on spending easily though that would make this otherwise simple tool much more complex. Budget limits and competitive purchasing rules have also made it impossible to persuade management to use the tool more widely. Sharing roadmaps and plans is easy but our security team won't approve unsecured open links. As a result, sharing with more team members or people without licenses can become tiring.

Pros

Creating and moving boxes feels very easy and I like the visualization overall.

Cons

Connecting roadmap items to their matching Jira stories is unclear and the Jira integration feels impractical. A better integration would make managing my roadmap more smooth.
