A project should not be planned without this

Pros

First-time users may require training and compatibility issues with other computers and tools may arise.

Cons

Adjusting dates can be a bit intricate when updating or changing dates. There is a steep learning curve for the advanced features. It would be useful to add email reminders and attachments to tasks. Other people also need project installed when sharing with teams.

MS Project

Pros

The user interface appears outdated and subpar.

Cons

If you are not a big company the license can be a bit expensive for users. If you are a new user it can take time to learn the application. However once you learn how to maneuver around it is smooth sailing.

Too many pieces to remember

Pros

While excellent for project management the software's cost is a concern especially for students. The suggestion is to include the software in a general package.

Cons

Microsoft over-engineered it for first-time users and individuals that do not use it hourly. Feel Microsoft put too much into it but it is not easy to use nor user-friendly. It's great if you remember to click X on the third ribbon and only if you hold it for 3 seconds while closing your one eye. It is a great product but using other project management programs it is not as user-friendly or slick as the alternatives.

It's Microsoft - people are comfortable with it

Pros

The software is perceived as somewhat complex lacking optimal user-friendliness.

Cons

While the interface is intuitive it still requires training to fully and efficiently utilize this software. Some users want to rush ahead because they think they know what they are doing and miss functionality. As long as you have robust training you will be good to go.

Complex and capable

Pros

The need to pay for additional project features is a notable drawback.

Cons

For many projects this solution is probably too powerful and capable. It's possible to use project to resource schedule something as simple as a custom project in a production environment but the application is probably better suited to a much more complex task than that.

Great Software

Pros

Microsoft Project's pricing structure is criticized suggesting separate subscriptions for more flexibility. Lack of video tutorials is another drawback.

Cons

To purchase the software is costly but it is really worth the acquisition because it changes a person's work completely.

Good but not great

Pros

Microsoft PowerPoint is viewed as needing updates especially in terms of collaboration and animation features.

Cons

I hated not being able to have two schedules up at the same time on different screens simultaneously. It would only allow me to switch between the two on a single screen.
