UI handles multiple domains

Pros

It handles multiple domains well, delivers good performance and comes with a basic, easy UI. It also integrates with newer technologies which makes it a practical option for evolving environments.

Cons

Training is expensive and the backend is very complex. That makes setup and deeper management more challenging.

great tool overall

Pros

From setup to day to day use, this is like a polished and mature MDM platform. The interface is user friendly and the workflow makes it simple to get things done and put processes in place without much friction. It also gives plenty of flexibility when choosing how to approach a solution which is a big plus. On top of that integrating it with other systems is very easy, with multiple technology options available for the same purpose.

Cons

I'd like to see more public-facing extensibility especially the ability to use custom solutions shared by other users, like plugins or external tools. It's also missing a few quality of life touches such as dark mode and code formatting that really should already be part ofthe product.

One reliable source for us

Pros

It covers multiple kinds of master data, including product, customer and supplier information which is a big advantage for companies that want one reliable source of truth for their key data. That broad coverage is really helpful for data quality and data governance and it also stands out for its integration capabilities, flexibility and scalability.

Cons

The plugin options are still very limited. With each new release, they mainly add new features tothe platform but from a developer perspective, we still have to build our own custom code extensions. There are also only a few file formats available for exporting from the PIM. Data container issues continue to be a major concern and Smartsheet definitely needs more improvement.

Strong unifying authentic MDM

Pros

Stibo STEP has been one of the strongest MDM tools I have worked with over the years. Its ability to unify master data across different domains while preserving data quality and authenticity is what really makes it stand out in this space.

Cons

There isn't really anything major to complain about. But simplifying the interface and reducing the time needed for initial setup would make the overall user experience even better.

Quick learning simplifies data

Pros

Getting up to speed with it doesn't take long and learning how to use the program is very easy. Another thing I really like is how well it simplifies the process of working through large volumes of data.

Cons

Honestly I don't have any complaints aboutthis software. It's an excellent piece of software and I believe it should be used anywhere it can be.

saves us time

Pros

Everything in the application is laid out in a very organized way, so moving around the pages is pretty easy. Also it keeps customer information neatly arranged in one place which saves time since There is no need to jump between different pages.

Cons

It is missing spell check. In a fast paced work environment, there often isn't enough time to catch or fix typing mistakes andthe softwaredoesn't help by correcting them.

Simple product info publishing

Pros

It makes organizing product information really simple and I can publish it straight to the web or to print whenever I need copies for myself.

Cons

The overall layout ofthe systemfelt a bit confusing when I was new to it. Also it wasn't very helpful when it came to spell check.

Feature rich tool

Pros

Built over many years, the application is feature rich, flexible and thoughtfully designed. It has a lot of depth in what it can do and the workflow tools along with the way it handles users through portals are especially valuable. It does a very good job of organizing product information in one central place which saves time and avoids having to track details across different areas. I also like that it can publish directly to web or print.

Cons

I noticed that the print function is not really set up properly for product presentations where multiple SKU images are attached to child items and need to be shown at the same time. The version I used also didn't have a spell check feature which would have been useful.

helpful for large catalogs

Pros

Handling a huge catalog with products from multiple vendors was much more manageable with STEP. It does a good job of structuring large volumes of data in a clear hierarchy and updating information when needed was easy. For that kind of complex product data, it was definitely a necessary tool.

Cons

One thing missing in the version I used was a spell check feature. That would have been really useful.

useful workflows, restrictive data access

Pros

The team workflows are helpful and having both the UI and Workbench gives some flexibility depending on how you want to work.

Cons

To me the data is very locked down and pulling information out of the database is difficult.

buggy and restrictive platform

Pros

What it does well is offer customization options for data management teams which can be useful depending on how the team wants to work.

Cons

That saidthis platformhas been very buggy and full of errors. There are also parts we have wanted to change but simply cannot which makesthe platformfeel limiting and frustrating to use.

well organized tool

Pros

The layout is user friendly and everything follows a very logical order which makes the software easy to work with.

Cons

Setting upthe systemcan be confusing and some of the terms they use to describe the workflow feel very specific to their own company.

slow down everything

Pros

Stibo Systems interface is user-friendly and it makes it simple to search for products and review their hierarchy, attributes, descriptions and other details. Updating web classification rules is also easy.

Cons

The downside is that the business rules and workflows do not support immediate publishing. Even after an update gets approved, it still has to go through IT before it can go live on the website.

Pros

Keeping all product data in one place makes things much more manageable since there is no need to track information across multiple systems. It is also helpful for us that content can be published directly to the web or to print.

Cons

Print functionality is not set up well for product presentations that need to display several SKU images linked to child items all at the same time.

feature rich and great design

Pros

Packed with features and a lot of flexibility, this application is well designed and thoughtfully built over many years. It has a great architecture and a real depth of functionality. The workflow tools are especially useful and the way it handles users through portals adds a lot of value as well.

Cons

One thing to keep in mind is that it's a fairly technical product. You really need experienced users to manage and maintain it properly. It's not exactly a complaint, more of an important consideration for anyone planning to implement it.
