great tool overall

Pros

From setup to day to day use, this is like a polished and mature MDM platform. The interface is user friendly and the workflow makes it simple to get things done and put processes in place without much friction. It also gives plenty of flexibility when choosing how to approach a solution which is a big plus. On top of that integrating it with other systems is very easy, with multiple technology options available for the same purpose.

Cons

I'd like to see more public-facing extensibility especially the ability to use custom solutions shared by other users, like plugins or external tools. It's also missing a few quality of life touches such as dark mode and code formatting that really should already be part ofthe product.

One reliable source for us

Pros

It covers multiple kinds of master data, including product, customer and supplier information which is a big advantage for companies that want one reliable source of truth for their key data. That broad coverage is really helpful for data quality and data governance and it also stands out for its integration capabilities, flexibility and scalability.

Cons

The plugin options are still very limited. With each new release, they mainly add new features tothe platform but from a developer perspective, we still have to build our own custom code extensions. There are also only a few file formats available for exporting from the PIM. Data container issues continue to be a major concern and Smartsheet definitely needs more improvement.
