“Couldn't be simpler!

Pros

AccountEdge Pro has made a world of difference in my company. The easy-to-use dashboard allows me to enter purchases, invoice customers, pay bills, handle payroll and maintain accurate accounting of my banking activities, among other things. It's so simple to use that even I can do it! It's a huge time-saver, and in the five years I've been using AccountEdge, I've never encountered any issues.

Cons

It's not a major issue, but there have been a couple of instances where I had to readjust the check printing format.

“CPA is Baffled.

Pros

After using AccountEdge for three years, I have become comfortable with its daily use. In the first year, I had to manually calculate payroll using my failing Peachtree software. However, now I have a payroll subscription, which works well although it lacks some flexibility that I would prefer. I contacted customer support regarding the issue of manually calculating different matching and withholding SIMPLE rates for employees, and they provided a solution that resolved the problem. This positive customer service experience was one of two.

Cons

As a corporation, we carry forward profits and losses as retained earnings without the requirement to distribute dividends. Unfortunately, AccountEdge doesn't allow me or my CPA (using their copy) to make year-end adjustments to the Retained Earnings reports, leaving us unaware of our financial standing. This poses a problem as I plan to retire and sell or pass on the business but cannot generate accurate reports through AccountEdge. Additionally, I very much dislike the automatic numbering feature for payments (although it works well for invoicing) and wish there was an option to disable it. Since I pay a significant portion of our bills online, I record the confirmation numbers in the check number space, which is especially convenient when reconciling monthly federal and state tax payments with my bank and ensuring the payments were sent. However, many confirmation numbers (IRS, Colorado payroll, unemployment, credit cards, FedEx, Comcast) exceed the maximum 8 digits allowed for check numbers. (I can enter the full numbers in the memo space.) It's evident to me that the program originated from Apple/Mac, as it includes automatic functions that actually hinder accounting. AccountEdge doesn't integrate with our estimating software like QuickBooks does, so I may end up using it solely for payroll to avoid the cost of QuickBooks.

“Easy and customizable

Pros

I've been using this software since 1992 when it was still known as MYOB. It is user-friendly and provides all the necessary help within the software itself. The categories can be customized, and making edits is easy. Additionally, you can generate customized reports.

Cons

When entering a new customer, I would prefer to have more options on the main screen, such as the initial customer date and notes, instead of navigating through multiple screens. It would be much easier to have all the relevant data visible on a single screen.

“Slowness of closing year

Pros

I like that it is compatible with MAC, and the bank reconciliation feature works fine.

Cons

It took an exhausting 5 hours for the software to close a fiscal year. Furthermore, entering dates is quite complicated and cumbersome.

“A Real Workhorse

Pros

AccountEdge proved to be very user-friendly. The setup process was simple, and I didn't encounter any glitches during my use.

Cons

I primarily used AccountEdge for invoicing and didn't widely explore the other functions. Overall, I have no complaints about it.

“Simple Complete Accounting System

Pros

The installation and use of this software are relatively easy, and you don't need to have a accounting background to get started. You can select your industry and specify the services/products you offer, customize their names and the software will set up your chart of accounts, getting you up and running. Once you set up a few vendors/suppliers and customers, you can begin issuing invoices and paying bills.

Cons

The software lacks immediate accessibility as it deviates from the flow of modern software. Each function, whether it's paying bills or selling products, requires either precise knowledge of the necessary steps and their order or following a "guide" consisting of a large flow sheet of icons with arrows indicating the next steps in a circular fashion.

“Solid Accounting platform

Pros

The ease of use and setup are impressive. I can run necessary reports and handle taxes in-house.

Cons

The invoices appear slightly outdated and could benefit from some improvements.

“AccountEdge Pro is disappointing

I made a one-time purchase for the program, except for the payroll feature, which comes at a reasonable cost.

Cons

Evaluating the software within a 30-day period is overly complex. There are numerous issues not covered by online videos, and no manual documentation is provided. Customer support is poor, and they struggle to address issues. Additionally, I am unable to manually input payroll tax tables.

Learning how to use it is not difficult at all, and I like the option to undo or fix mistakes easily.

Pros

I've been using this program for years, back when it was called MYOB. Although I don't use all the features, I stick with it and keep it updated. Navigating through the program is simple, and I rarely encounter issues. When I do, the tech support is always there to assist.

Cons

It's disappointing when my customized forms don't transfer during updates.

Pros

One aspect I really like about this program is its excellent compatibility with Mac. I also like the customer support's as they are knowledgeable and address any questions I have.

Cons

This software contains so many different features, but at times, it can be challenging to locate specific ones.

Pros

AccountEdge Pro is very easy to set up and navigate. I can't think of anything this program can't do.

Cons

I cannot find any issues that are worth mentioning as it fulfills all of our needs.

“Best accounting software out there!

Pros

The reports and searches are logical and easy to understand which makes perfect sense. Navigating the software is also hassle free, and it helps prevent silly mistakes like duplicating a vendor or customer card. In case of errors, the option to merge cards is available. The check and invoice forms are fully customizable.

Cons

I wasn't fond of having to open old data files to retrieve information from previous years. However, the program now allows transactions to be kept for up to eight years, if I recall correctly. Nevertheless, I still find myself having to restore old files occasionally.

“Don't use for more than one year

I'm stuck with it since we started with a much earlier version, and have been using it ever since.

Cons

Searching for transactions from prior years is both costly and a massive hassle.

“Longtime user. Could be better, but has been solid for us.

Pros

This software is very much customizable to suit our unique needs. I also like that payroll and inventory tracking are included and not an additional service. Tax forms require an extra fee, and it would be great to have the option to use Stripe for credit card processing. Finally, they recently added kits for inventory, which was long overdue. Overall, it's a one-stop-shop for us, meeting all our accounting, inventory, and POS requirements for phone sales.

Cons

It's disappointing that the software doesn't offer a fully online solution, which would allow us to access and work with data from anywhere without any additional costs. Additionally, the integration with our ecommerce software is not seamless, as it only works with Shopify, which is a more expensive and less flexible choice compared to Bigcommerce. It would be beneficial if the tax form integration was smoother and included in the monthly support fee.

Pros

AccountEdge Pro has everything I require and more. I have full confidence that AEPro can handle the growth of my business without any issues.

Cons

I found the learning curve to be quite steep. Some of the vocabulary used is slightly different from what I'm accustomed to, so it requires a bit of creativity to find relevant answers in the help center. However, once I locate the correct topic, the answers provided are extremely easy to follow.

It's generally user-friendly, even for someone like me who isn't knowledgeable about accounting. The accounting and tech support teams are patient and friendly. Despite the changes in ownership and name from MYOB over the years, the service quality, continuity, and evolution have been consistently smooth and positive.

Cons

The software can be a bit expensive for a single-person business. There have been a couple of instances where the accounting support instructions to resolve issues didn't work, although this has only happened twice throughout all these years.

It's unfortunate that there is no option to access the software online, especially when it comes to scanning and saving invoices online to prevent using up personal hard drive space in the event of a crash.
