“Lag time is unacceptable
Pros
The software was OK, until they switched to web-based hosting. :\
Cons
Now AppsForRent hosts them, we need to connect to a remote desktop to use the application. There are significant lag times, poor customer, and overall frustration with having to be on a remote desktop.

“Our romance with AccountEdgePro is rocky
Pros
I purchased AccountEdge Pro for our farm with the intend to install it on multiple machines. The multiuser login feature worked brilliantly, although there were a couple of quirks. Since we have individual desktop setups (x5), we used a mesh network on the farm to connect the desktops and input inventory transfers as we grew or propagated plants. Unfortunately, we don't have internet coverage from our Starlink satellite for these outlying desktops, so a web-based subscription wasn't suitable. The one-time payment option was a significant factor for us as seasonal farmers, considering our fluctuating account balance throughout the year. The integration with Shopify was the major selling point as it allows our staff to update our inventory in real-time online through the sync link between the two software platforms on the main computer. This was essential for us as we have stock in both the USA and Australia, and it saved us a lot of administrative time after team meetings, which often faced time difference issues. The Inventory Variations feature was a gamechanger for us since we manufacture plants and being able to track the different stages of plant growth in our inventory provided valuable information to our sales teams. Previously, we would have to physically count plants and call the customer back, but now we could suggest alternate plants for earlier delivery, leading to potential extra sales. Job Codes were also brilliant for separating different projects on the farm or the research component of our business, allowing us to track project costs. This particular component disappeared when MYOB went web-based around six years ago. Having used Australian MYOB since 1996, I found that AccountEdge Pro was an immediate replica with additional features, making the transition incredibly smooth. I've been using AccountEdge Pro since 2019.
Cons
Until last year, we didn't have any cons with AccountEdge. However, when we purchased upgraded licenses for all five computers, we encountered a major issue. Despite having the multiuser function, it no longer allows simultaneous data input from multiple computers. We discovered that the other computers can only input data if they are logged out while the main computer remains logged on. This rendered the licenses useless, as our main computer is always logged on. We tried reinstalling the older version, but it wasn't possible once the account backup came from the upgraded version. Support then advised us to switch to the web-based version, but with three computers without internet access and the need for subscriptions for each active computer, it became financially and logistically unfeasible to sustain the fees for 12 months a year. The Shopify link disappeared, and despite promises of a new solution since May last year, nothing has been delivered. We didn't receive any prior notice, and our customers started complaining about undelivered orders, which alerted us to the problem. As a result, we now have to enter data separately from two locations, the USA and Australia. Moreover, we can no longer access our account through the MyAccount page, as we are geofenced to the Australia MYOB page. The same limitations apply to Community support and the Support Team, which we have paid for. Speaking of payments, AccountEdge Pro switched to web-based monthly subscriptions. We strongly prefer one-time payments when required, as they are much easier to manage. Unfortunately, after a great experience initially, we have decided to stop upgrading. We hired someone with Python knowledge to create sync capability with Shopify. Luckily, I have a database diploma and can work with reports as CSV imports from the desktop computers located around the farm, but this has consumed a significant amount of my time.

“User for 30 years
Pros
AccountEdge gets the job done and allows me to do whatever I need to do.
Cons
AccountEdge discontinued native support for Mac when it transitioned to 32 bits. For about five years, they have been promising a native version, but the current DOS shell it operates in is terrible and makes me feel like I'm back in 1995. It's the slowest program on my computer. I contact support twice a year, and it's always the same response: "they are working on it." Recently, I was told that every time they complete a project, Apple makes changes to their OS, further slowing down the progress. However, keeping programs up to date with each new OS is a standard part of computer operations. AccountEdge does everything I need, but on a Mac, it's an incredibly frustrating experience.

“I really liked the application, but need to improve the visualization for the end user
Pros
I really enjoyed using the application, but there is room for improvement in terms of the visualization for the end user. The tabs used to access functions could be changed to improve the user experience.
Cons
It would be beneficial to improve the images within the program and find a better approach to visually presenting information to the end customer. I recommend reconsidering the methods of accessing modules within the system.

“One of very few apps for accounting on Mac - 2022 version
Pros
This app can be installed and used without requiring an internet connection, unlike cloud-based accounting software. It offers all the necessary features, including employee records, payroll, invoicing, accounting and stock checking. It also stays up to date with HMRC requirements in the UK, such as Making Tax Digital tax submissions. Additionally, the price is highly competitive. Unlike most cloud-based accounting software that charges per employee for payroll, AccountEdge includes multiple employees as a standard feature.
Cons
The recent version has completely redesigned the software's appearance and feel. The text is extremely difficult to read, checkboxes are almost unusable and the overall user experience has significantly declined. Furthermore, error messages can be very confusing.

“Accountedge Review
Pros
This software is perfect for individuals who are not accountants but need a simple bookkeeping and accounting solution.
Cons
Whenever they release an update, numerous bugs emerge which cause many features to malfunction until the bugs are fixed. The last upgrade disrupted my Outlook connection, forcing me to manually send out invoices. Additionally, the level of support has worsened compared to what it used to be. They now enforce upgrading to the current version and charge for any support, unless you can prove that you are reporting a software bug.

“The real Cost of AccountEdge is in Payments Processing
Pros
As someone primarily focused on payments processing, I want to highlight the downside of the exclusive arrangement between AccountEdge and Forte for potential buyers.
Cons
In my humble opinion, the AccountEdge/Forte Payments processing leaves users vulnerable to excessive charges for credit card processing.

“Good product if you have accounting background
Pros
Overall, AccountEdge is a user-friendly accounting product. Its main strengths lie in budgeting and data input, financial reporting (monthly books) and accounts payable.
Cons
In my 26-plus years of accounting experience, I have come across some bigger issues with AccountEdge. While there are poorer products out there, there are certainly many better ones as well. Accounts receivable and the vendor/customer input features are in dire need of updating. Recently, we had to import data from the previous owners to the new owners, and it took the developers a significant amount of time to resolve the issues, despite the support team initially assuring us it wouldn't be a difficult process. There is no mass method to remove customer/vendor profiles. Surprisingly, the billing system, which allows sending monthly invoices and receiving payments from customers, is actually located in another product called Account Edge Connect, not within the base Account Edge. The two products only communicate with each other through a manual "sync" process whenever you want them to update each other. Additionally, there is no way to export data to a banking website for services like Bank of America's positive pay, making ACH transactions a very manual process. While this might have been acceptable a decade ago, it's disappointing that such a feature is still lacking in 2021, especially considering how virtual our operations have become. The quality of support varies; some individuals are awesome, while others are not as helpful. It's worth noting that they do not offer after-hours support, so if you encounter an issue outside of 9 am-5 pm Eastern time, you're out of luck.

“Overall good product
Pros
The simplicity of this product makes using it enjoyable. The layout is nice, and it's easy to find what you're looking for.
Cons
The customer support has completely declined. After upgrading to the 2021 version, numerous features, including the ability to send emails through Outlook, broke down. I had to wait for months to receive a fix and ended up manually sending out invoices in the meantime. When tax season arrived, they insisted that I upgrade to the 2022 version for my accountant to work on my file. The software may have a good price, but don't expect any support without spending additional money. It feels like a trap designed to force you to pay more.

“Allow Time for Manual Entries
Pros
I really like how easy it is to use, the clean interface and the features like payroll liability payments and recurring transactions, which are similar to QuickBooks. The price is fair, and the support team is helpful. I also like the fact that I have the ability to attach documents, although they become inaccessible if their location is moved within AccountEdge.
Cons
I'm disappointed that AccountEdge is not friendly for online use or bank feeds, and it lacks a full-service payroll option. Moreover, the customization options for reports are severely limited.

“Horrible - Waste of money, looking for another alternative, NO HELP FROM TECH SUPPORT.
Pros
I have to say NOTHING. I feel like all the time and effort we spent switching and implementing this software system has been a complete waste. Not to mention the high cost of the software.
Cons
I have yet to come across anything that is easy to do in this software. Despite reaching out for help on multiple occasions, I receive brief and nonsensical one-line responses to my tickets days later. When I call for support, I either wait for up to an hour and speak to someone who seems uninterested in listening to my issue, as if they were just woken up from a nap or in a terrible mood.

“Former AccountEdge Pro User
Pros
I started using this software in 2003 when it was still called MYOB. Back then and for many years, it fulfilled all my company's bookkeeping and accounting needs. It was fairly easy to use, and updates were only required every few years.
Cons
Due to the lack of support for the latest Apple OS (Catalina - 64 bit), I had no choice but to abandon AccountEdge Pro.

“Accountedge Pro
Pros
It's very easy to use and performs all the required tasks automatically. I find it reliable and easy to navigate. It works exceptionally well.
Cons
The software is lacking mobile integration, which I believe would be beneficial for using the application on a mobile device while on the go or at a client's office. Although some functions like looking up old invoices and jobs are available, it falls short of what is expected in today's age where portable applications are almost essential.

“The banking features are the best there is.
Pros
The ease of use is remarkable, and the support team is excellent. The ability to print checks has revolutionized our accounting department. We were also able to set up an e-commerce portion on our website, allowing us to sell materials online and accept and process electronic payments for orders. The invoicing features are also good.
Cons
Everything runs smoothly in the software so far, but it would greatly benefit from additional features. I would particularly like to have a mobile app since the current version is restricted to Mac and Windows.
