Datarails Review
Pros

I really enjoyed the flexibility provided by Datarail to integrate Excel files into the dashboards without relying solely on DR widgets or formulas.

Cons

In my opinion, there are some areas that could use improvement for a better user experience, but nothing that breaks the functionality. Specifically, I would like to see more options available in the widgets and dashboards.

Datarails review
Pros

Being able to create an Excel template and then delegate the weekly creation to a lower-cost resource is a great advantage.

Cons

We had a positive experience during the implementation process, although there were moments of frustration. This was mainly due to the learning curve we all faced, including our implementation specialist, as we worked towards achieving our business objectives.

Great product
Pros

The implementation process was smooth and cost-effective, and the support has been great. They also keep adding new features, which is a bonus.

Cons

As a typical Excel user, it took some time to get used to DR formulas. It would be great if I could simply copy and paste Excel formulas into DR and have them automatically translated into DR formulas.

Experience with Datarail
Pros

Datarail platform offers flexibility and intuitiveness which I really like. Working with their support team has been nothing but positive, as they always respond promptly to my questions.

Cons

It would be wonderful to have a Datarail team that could recreate our financial package from the Excel version, as this process can be quite time-consuming.

Good, but training could be better
Pros

DataRails implementation of Excel is fantastic, although it can be a bit laborious to achieve efficiency.

Cons

One frustration is the inability to determine my user type and access level. There have been instances where I was trying to perform a certain task but realized I didn't have the necessary access. Additionally, the concepts of File Boxes, Data Mapping, and integrations can be confusing and overwhelming. Clearer guidance by the team would be welcoming.

A cost effective low change management tool for planning/forecasting/reporting
Pros

If you need to stay within your Excel environment, Datarail offers low change management. Their technology allows you to leverage your spreadsheets, formulas, and financial models seamlessly. The implementation process was also very intuitive.

Cons

The tool's customizability is a double-edged sword. It offers great flexibility, but it also requires a fair amount of technical proficiency to use it properly beyond standard use cases.

Datarails Review
Pros

One of the things I love is the option to create and store multiple reports in one easily accessible platform. With the volume of reports our team produces, it's beneficial to have a single place to report from.

Cons

We have encountered limitations when creating certain types of dashboards in the system. Some files cannot be aggregated due to data type restrictions, which is crucial for several of our reports. The file mapping process can also become confusing when additional columns are added, requiring us to reconfigure the mapping. This becomes problematic when our historical data does not contain the exact same data, leading to issues.

Datarails has become an integral part of our management reporting framework
Pros

Datarail seamlessly integrates with essential business applications and offers robust reporting and dashboarding capabilities. It also integrates well with Excel, enabling advanced data manipulation and analysis.

Cons

During the early stages of implementation, we discovered a limitation in the volume of data we could effectively process and analyze with Datarails. However, the implementation team was instrumental in helping us reconfigure workflows, limit the data exposed to Datarails, and ultimately find a good, workable solution.

DataRails - an efficient and simple tool with potential for improvement
Pros

I like several aspects of Datarails. Firstly, its simplicity makes report creation and implementation a hassle free task. Additionally, it serves as an excellent collaborative tool.

Cons

There are a couple of areas that could be improved: 1) The dashboard functionality is quite limited compared to tools like Tableau. I would like to have more features in terms of graph types and customization options. 2) Implementing API connections should be made easier. We have been struggling to establish a live connection between DataRails and our ERP system for some time now.

Experience with DataRails
Pros

Once I had it set up, DataRails proved to be an effective tool for managing both regular and ad hoc financial reporting. It has significantly saved time by streamlining the construction of standard reports, allowing me to focus more on in-depth analysis.

Cons

Setup process for the environment can be both tedious and confusing. Troubleshooting errors can be time-consuming, especially when dealing with large input files (any change to the Data Mapper requires updating all files within a File Box) or when multiple inputs have different mappers (attempting to create uniform mappers across diverse input structures can be frustrating). Unfortunately, there is no readily available resource that effectively explains the data flow or provides comprehensive guidance on constructing a Data Mapper tailored to specific needs.

Pros

Datarails, being Excel-based, offers a wide range of templates and dashboards. It allows users to conduct large analysis on the platform, simplifying complex tasks.

Cons

Great Software for Reporting!
Pros

Learning how to use the system changed my perspective on reporting. Although building reports initially requires some time investment, they can be refreshed within seconds thereafter. No more repetitive pivot table creation.

Cons

It took me some time to familiarize myself with the system and understand its powerful features. Thankfully, there are plenty of helpful links available for self-learning.

Fantastic and Flexible Reporting Software
Pros

Datarails direct integration with Excel allowed our team to quickly adapt to the system. It provides the flexibility of Excel without the need for multiple data tables or SQL queries. Datarails constantly improves its software and actively collaborates with customers to meet their needs. The possibilities for data analysis are limitless, and our satisfaction with the software grows each month due to continuous enhancements over our two years of usage.

Cons

Datarail strength lies in its integration with Excel, but it can also be a weakness. Since reports heavily rely on the logic embedded in Excel, it requires multiple data checks to ensure accuracy. Thankfully, Datarails simplifies the overall checking process. Although I really want to show appreciation to the Dashboards and Storybook functions, there is room for improvement in terms of graphing functionality. The variance analysis tool in the dashboards is amazing, but it would benefit from updates and additional resources to fully realize its potential.

Pros

The implementation process was easy and efficient. Datarails seamlessly connects to various file sources, such as Netsuite and Bizdoc. It's user-friendly for all members of our team.

Cons

Pros

I enjoy the functionality of Excel integration in Datarails. Once you get the hang of the formulas, they are easy to use. The online platform is intuitive and easy to navigate.

Pros

DataRails function to consolidate disaggregated data has been a significant advantage. However, what truly adds value for me is the dashboarding and storyboard capabilities.

Cons
