Unmatched support fixes problems promptly

Pros

As an SME owner, I find Odoo delivers excellent value, with powerful features spread across many handy apps and I have found their support to be professional and unmatched. They consistently fix any problem promptly.

Cons

While I like most aspects of the system, I am puzzled that I cannot permanently edit the odd automatic text used on customer payment follow-ups which I find hard to understand and that limitation isn't related to their support, of course.

complete one-stop solution for everything

Pros

For me it's a complete one-stop solution for business software like having a dedicated assistant for my company that manages everything, from keeping track of customers and sales to monitoring finances, all under one roof.

Cons

I cannot find any downsides right now. I am honestly impressed with Odoo's capabilities up to this point.

Reporting features simplify accounting cycle tracking

Pros

For me the reporting features and the ability to more easily track the entire accounting cycle are a big plus.

Cons

I encountered numerous problems dealing with the local developer yet my experience improved significantly when I worked with the rep, who was consistently helpful and very gentle throughout.

Billing remains the only reliable feature

Pros

Setting it up and keeping it running is really easy for me and I personally find it extremely user friendly.

Cons

I ran into issues because the website doesn't integrate with Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram which is frustrating.

Fast responses beats competitors

Pros

I was genuinely impressed by how fast you respond. unlike most other apps where I either get no reply or experience slow, dragging responses.

Cons

What frustrates me is that it isn't connected to local banks to pull in bank statements directly for reconciliation and I also find the process for importing accounting entries overly restrictive and complex.

Powerful modules hindered by paid restrictions

Pros

I really like Odoo's versatility. Also it comes with a wide selection of modules you can plug in based on what your company requires. From CRM to accounting, inventory control and project management, I notice it covers nearly every area your business might need. Because it's open-source, I was able to tweak and tailor it to match our exact workflows. The user interface is user friendly too which helped a lot when I was getting started with ERP systems and didn't want a steep learning curve.

Cons

For me the drawback is that several advanced capabilities are locked behind the paid tiers. Setting everything up can feel a little intimidating at first if you don't have much technical know-how particularly when there's no IT staff to help. I have also noticed customer support can be slow occasionally which becomes really frustrating when you're on a lower-priced plan and need fast assistance to resolve an urgent issue.

User-friendly interface handles daily operations

Pros

For me it handles the majority of day to day operational tasks and requirements and the interface is quite user friendly and easy to use.

Cons

I am disappointed by the limited number of reports and the very restricted layout options for quotations and invoices.

Quick setup delivers tailored website instantly

Pros

The service makes it really easy to start a project as within just a few minutes and after answering a handful of questions I can have a website that genuinely seems to match what I need.

Cons

But once I start digging into the finer details, configuring things becomes really tough it's far from user-friendly. Some of the workflow and UX choices are honestly terrible and feel clumsy. Configuration elements are scattered across multiple apps so rather than a smooth setup I end up hunting through different places. Pretty quickly I have to go deep into the system to even begin to understand how everything connects.

Great features locked behind paid plans

Pros

I have found the platform is designed to serve a wide range of businesses but sadly many of the features that would make it truly worthwhile to deploy are locked behind paid plans.

Cons

In my experience it can take ages to actually get to the bottom of an issue. I end up watching tutorials, messaging customer support and finally talking to a certified representative who opens a service ticket which delays the resolution.

free forever plan requires careful attention

Pros

The one-app free plan really is free for life and that matters to me. At the same time, I have learned to be careful not to accidentally activate another app because that can turn my free plan into a paid subscription without me noticing.

Cons

What bothered me was the unclear messaging around the free one-app plan. When I drag certain building blocks onto my site an install popup appears but it doesn't clearly warn that installing those pieces can switch me from the free plan to a paid subscription. For example, I only clicked to add the Website app because I wanted a simple site and suddenly live-chat and e-commerce showed up on my website's page. It turned out that some components inside those two apps triggered the move to a paid plan which caught me off guard. I admit I didn't watch every single instructional video but even so I expected Odoo to be more upfront about which apps are grouped together so that I can intentionally stay inside the one-app free tier. On the Apps page the Website app is listed with five sub-apps and I naturally assumed they were all part of the free one-app offering. apparently I was mistaken. Fortunately the issue was sorted out quickly thanks to very helpful customer support but this whole situation felt avoidable. Odoo should make it crystal clear when an install will convert a free account to a paid subscription and which combinations of modules are bundled so people like me won't trigger a billing change by accident. I would appreciate a clear, upfront confirmation or warning that spells out exactly which additional modules will require payment before I click install so users can decide with full knowledge.

flexible platform adapts to any business

Pros

Odoo is flexible and it is easily adaptable to suit virtually any business.

Cons

That said I think it's crucial to have a dedicated partner or someone on the team with in-depth knowledge of the software to get the most out of it.

Pros

I really like that I can customize it extensively, while it still delivers a great, ready-to-use experience straight away and doesn't cost too much.

Cons

For me managing user access rights remains pretty challenging and time-consuming which is frustrating.

Support handles heavy lifting and communication

Pros

Their support is incredibly helpful. they handled most of the heavy lifting around communication and resolving technical hurdles. Hats off indeed

Cons

The timeline and initial miscommunication about what was standard or upgraded caused significant problems and delayed our launch significantly. Early on their grasp of our business needs and Odoo's analysis missed the mark which led to missed opportunities and losses for us. I urge that those with stronger business-model expertise take the lead to mentor newcomers. I also discovered that responses were slow because the assigned team members were tied up with other projects or in internal meetings.

Handy reporting with easy CrM navigation

Pros

The CRM and Sales sections are easy to use and I really appreciate the reporting feature that lets me pivot data. In short it's incredibly handy.

Cons

Personally I have noticed it needs full integration with other email platforms like Outlook because many small and medium-sized businesses have adopted M365 as their main productivity suite and expect smooth email sync. furthermore, the way domains vary when someone sends from Odoo email ends up confusing clients.

Support vanishes after payment clears

Pros

What I like is the concept they came up with but it's a shame that ultimately they act just like typical salespeople.

Cons

I have had unacceptable treatment. they seem only focused on billing me over and over and once they get paid they couldn't care less whether the system actually works. They fail to deliver on what they promised.

Money collected but promises abandoned

Pros

Honestly there's nothing positive to praise about their product except for their sales contacts as I have to admit they're very good at that.

Cons

Once the payment goes through I am basically left to my own devices and feel trapped in their coercive, almost mafia-like cycle, with no real support to get out.

Pros

The app integrations work well to mirror how we operate directly inside the apps.

Cons

For me the WhatsApp app feels overly basic and it lacks important capabilities for example, I cannot load videos into the social media management tool.

what a great dedicated team they have

Pros

I want to give a big shout-out to support Rep, who has been our Business Analyst. From my perspective, he really took the time to understand how our company runs and then worked to adapt Odoo to fit the specific challenges we face. He's been quick and effective with implementations and has become a solid collaborator in helping us stretch our development budget and get the most value from our work.

Cons

Odoo makes it hard for me to bundle purchases into shipping units that match our truckload sizes. I keep running into trouble converting between measurable units that should map to each other which adds friction to our workflows. On top of that, I wish I could embed Tableau dashboards directly inside Odoo so our executives could get consolidated visual reports without jumping between systems.
