“offers a lot and is reliable
Pros
I like that there are a huge number of apps and modules that all integrate together. I can pick and choose which ones to begin with and then add additional apps as I need or feel comfortable. In my experience both small and large businesses can run Odoo successfully.
Cons
For our small company some aspects are a little complicated given our limited staff when it comes to getting things set up the way we need. We're a custom-products manufacturer and I find there aren't many guides or resources on managing the production of bespoke items. Odoo feels like it's better suited for huge, complex projects like constructing a house or an airplane. Meanwhile I am having trouble figuring out a smooth process to handle roughly 100 daily orders for custom rubber stamps, nameplates, signs and embroidery.

“Complete system overall
Pros
It is very complete and I am still learning the finer details especially with accounting and reporting. Next, I plan to work on integrating it with other ordering systems for POS and delivery. That will take some research and coding. With basic knowledge, I can get everything set up in a few days but the small details take time and you learn as you go.
Cons
At the moment I think document editing and certain automations ought to be available out of the box, while partners should provide support or pinpointed country-specific customizations. From my experience in Uruguay, it's difficult to attract attention when you're a small, newly launched company so getting focused help or quick responsiveness is complicated.

I have noticed it's consistently getting better and they keep an active, engaging dialogue with the user community.
Cons
It would help me if they offered a longer support period. the last three versions, not just two, should be treated as supported.

Pros
Well I am using a pretty large system that in my view nearly matches what the major providers can pull off nowadays in functionality.
Cons
Personally I don't find it very user-friendly or simple to use. The way it lays out everyday things like quotes and invoices falls short of what Xero delivers. Also I keep running into unexpected costs to customize the documents we send clients and those expenses erode the overall value the software gives us it's definitely a sore point.

Love how it cuts down on time and costs and opens up a lot of possibilities for expanding my business without all the constant back-and-forth. When all the modules integrate and function together, it's truly impressive.
Cons
After the most recent upgrade I ran into a slew of error codes though the support team has been outstanding in helping me through them. I also added a couple partners and it's been a real challenge to pause what I am doing and walk them through the system because they're unwilling to watch the tutorial videos. On top of that, they still haven't grasped how much value this brings to scaling the business so they remain skeptical about its growth benefits.

Cons
I find that the cloud-hosted Odoo Online version restricts flexibility because it disallows third-party modules which prevents me from adding extensions and tailoring features the way I want.

Pros
As someone at a company that's been around fifty years, I am pleasantly surprised at how user-friendly Odoo is. As it's a welcome upgrade that doesn't force us to retrain longtime employees on an entirely new approach.
Cons
The layout can feel a bit repetitive which sometimes makes me wonder if I am in the right place. But each step is simple and user friendly so it's actually pretty hard to mess anything up.

From my experience this ERP platform gives a complete set of business apps suitable for companies of all sizes and I like that it acts as a consolidated all-in-one business platform. It's modular and easy to tailor, has a friendly interface, automates workflows, provides live dashboards and reports, works both online and offline, includes built-in communication, is reachable from any device, supports scalable cloud hosting and benefits from an active community for support.
Cons
I have noticed that when I switch to Dark Mode some text in certain fields doesn't render correctly sometimes parts of the text are faint and in some cases they disappear entirely. I'd recommend the app ensure text always flips to a readable color when Dark Mode is enabled.

I really like that they offer an enormous selection of apps I can pick and tailor to my needs. I was able to customize the system to fit my workflow but I learned the hard way not to expect timely support or current, accurate documentation.

Honestly almost everything about my experience was a mess. After I bought the software and got close to opening my shop, I realized it was way more complicated than I needed as a solo operator with simple needs. I thought I could handle the complexity if the core features worked but they did not. The POS app kept failing during business hours sometimes shutting down completely while I had customers. I could not get anyone helpful on the phone, even though it was urgent. I sent error codes to their tech team and every time they said they could not do anything with them. When I signed up, the sales team seemed poorly informed and told me I could use my own IoT hardware without buying their IoT subscription. That turned out to be false so I paid for it only to find out later the issue could have been solved more simply. We also never got it to work with our receipt printer and the setup guides looked like they had not been updated in years. Frustrated, we switched to Shopify and everything worked smoothly right away. My needs were basic just a simple POS and inventory system but Odoo overpromised and underdelivered badly. To make things worse, my sales rep was on vacation when I opened so no one was there to help when things went wrong. Most of my stress came from the system failing. Even though I was misled about the IoT setup, the company refused to refund me, saying it was their policy which felt really unethical. Don't sell me unnecessary add-ons while your salesperson is unreachable. I am sharing this to warn other small business owners. avoid Odoo if you can. The whole experience caused me a huge amount of unnecessary stress.
