“Accounting is a mess and bad support

Pros

As someone who relies on a single system, I love the idea of one platform handling everything. if it actually delivers, think how much time I'd save tracking everything from quoting through sales and manufacturing to shipping. Seriously, what could possibly go wrong?!

Cons

The idea of having everything in one place sounds appealing but for me it falls short because it doesn't actually provide the features I need or want. Their accounting module is a total mess and far too convoluted for me to keep things organized. To top it off, its support has been unbelievably bad, in my experience it's the worst I have encountered.

“Terrible service, extremely disappointing

“Too many bugs, couldn't use it at all

Pros

If being honest I got no support at all the technical team didn't answer and when they eventually replied they didn't know how to help as they just asked me to send a photo so they could see the problem.

Honestly everything was bad as there were too many bugs so we couldn't appreciate or make proper use of the software.

“Automates project planning and tracking

Pros

I mainly rely on Odoo to automatically plan, manage and keep track of my projects. Because Odoo is fully open-source, it helps me lower costs significantly.

Cons

Although I don't use Odoo every single day, it consistently fulfills all of my requirements whenever I decide to use it.

“extensive customization options

Pros

The thing I love about Odoo is the extensive customization options it offers.

I am frustrated that the free tier only lets me use one app for free if I want to add more than a single app, I am forced to upgrade to the all-apps plan. I'd much prefer if they offered pricing for each additional app or a subscription option that covers a limited number of apps, instead of making me buy the entire suite.

“Simple to pick up, clear layout

Pros

What I like is how simple it is to pick up. The layout of the opportunities is clear and I especially appreciate the range of action options available.

Cons

At this point I haven't noticed any real downsides or problems with it.

“easy module switching but expensive

Pros

Everything is consolidated into one platform and I notice it's really easy to jump back and forth between different modules.

Cons

My main issue is the feature set is fairly limited so when I need additional capabilities I end up paying extra to have someone build them it feels like there's a charge for every little thing.

Using the SaaS edition, I like that there's a free trial available and that the product is scalable so it can evolve as our needs change.

I have noticed the SaaS pricing can be quite costly and the database sometimes suffers from latency issues.

“Simple interface, non-techies learn fast

We find the interface simple and user-friendly so even our youngest staff and colleagues who aren't tech-savvy pick it up quickly.

I have noticed their customer support can be rather slow in replying to our inquiries which is frustrating since we pay for their services and expect timely assistance.

“Trial ended and we lost database

Pros

Using it was easy for me while it still functioned yet that is irrelevant because I lost my complete database and cannot recover it anyway.

After putting in long hours to build what I thought was the perfect website, my free trial expired and I suddenly couldn't access my original database anymore. I attempted to subscribe so I could restore my site but the process simply directed me to a brand new URL where I was asked to begin a completely new website from scratch. I opened a support ticket, sent an email to Odoo and even replied to the message that notifies you your trial ended which explicitly instructs you to reply to discuss your options. Having done all of that, despite multiple attempts to contact them, I received absolutely no reply and remain unable to regain access to the website I worked so hard on at all. The biggest downside for me with Odoo is their customer support which I find to be utterly useless and unacceptable.

“Ghosted and terminated over a billing mistake

I think it's good value when it actually works but it is limited to the accounting module only.

I have experienced them ghosting me and terminating my service rather than fixing a billing mistake that was clearly their fault.

“Open-source and has wide business tools

Pros

For me it provides an extensive and wide-ranging set of tools for accounting, sales management and even marketing automation and what I like most about it is that it's open-source and can be modified by users.

Cons

I do find the downside is the platform has a steep learning curve when you're beginning to use it and on top of that the cost to customize it tends to be fairly high.

“affordable and has fast performance

Pros

Its interface is very user-friendly so it's something everyone on our team can get on board with. I like its flexibility and the price is really affordable and I have experienced noticeably faster performance with a lot less data entry.

I cannot complain as it has really helped me. Much appreciated and great work from the developers.

For our team, Odoo lets us automate the whole maintenance workflow thanks to its advanced feature set.

I wish it had a more user friendly interface and delivered a better experience within its management panel.

“Outstanding recruitment and hr modules

Pros

The recruitment and employee management modules are outstanding as they make it so much easier for me to track applications and manage employee records. I also like that HR links with other components such as accounting and project management which I find incredibly helpful.

Some functions only work if you add extra modules which ends up raising the overall cost. I also noticed that mastering everything takes a fair bit of time especially for newcomers, although it's not a showstopper for me.

“Gets complicated and tangled quickly

Pros

I am able to get started quickly and without hassle and I also find it very flexible so I can customize it to suit my workflow.

Cons

For me it gets complicated quickly and turns into a tangled mess that's difficult to unravel and fix.

“Very nice, simple invoicing tool

It is very nice tool for creating invoices and quite simple to use.

Cons

Setting it up can be a bit tricky and it can take me some time.

“I love that it is flexible

Pros

The readily available features that let me deploy an ERP across my company are the best. I can choose cloud hosting, run it on my own infrastructure or use Odoo's servers. It's extremely flexible and supported by a large community with many addons.

Cons

In my experience, customizing it has a fairly steep learning curve. I have also noticed inconsistencies between what works in self-hosted setups versus the cloud-hosted editions and that gap made planning and implementing the system more confusing than I'd expected.

“Apps like control center, easy setup

Pros

At my company we use Odoo as our business management tool and I find it stands out for its flexibility and the boost in productivity it provides. One thing I like is that all the apps are organized in a tablet-like layout, acting as a control center that makes everything very easy to use. It's also easy to set up for different needs as I have been able to configure it for website building, handling accounting tasks and issuing CFDI invoices without much hassle.

Cons

I have noticed that many payment gateways are missing on the websites. I would love to see more payment-provider options integrated via APIs because the ones currently available feel fairly limited and restrict our e-commerce flexibility.

“User-friendly, outstanding support

It is really user-friendly and their after-sales support was outstanding.

The subscription setup made me feel almost locked in and dependent and I wish there had been a more open-source option.
