Stopped working, no real support

Pros

At first glance, it looked pretty simple to get set up and start using.

Cons

Within a week, it quit working and support was basically nonexistent aside from scripted text-book style replies.

Constant payroll and transfer headaches

Pros

It seemed user-friendly and simple enough for a small business owner to navigate.

Cons

This has been a mess from every angle. I have the account, used it for payroll until yesterday and also have their checking account. The first thing that made no sense to me was the checking account not even offering checks. On top of that, they basically hold your money and then charge extremely high transfer fees. I have called over and over because the system keeps telling me I have hit my transfer limit, even though the stated limit is $5,000 per day and $10,000 per week. Every time, they review my account, confirm everything looks fine and admit I have not actually reached the limit yet nobody can resolve it. Payroll became another nightmare. It seemed convenient in the beginning and I used it for months but then I suddenly started getting insufficient funds notices even though my account was never actually short. Multiple representatives have confirmed that too but the only fix they offer is to move money out of QB into another account, then wire it back in again with an extra $100, plus a $25 charge from my other account. After dealing with this twice, I am done using QB for payroll and going back to my other business account with a real bank. This has felt like a total rip-off. If I could leave this warning everywhere online, I would. My longest support call lasted three hours and I kept getting passed from person to person without any real help. The whole situation is absurd and I would strongly tell any new business owner to look elsewhere. I am literally writing this after once again being told, "you have not reached your transfer limit so I am not sure why you are getting this message." Another line I keep hearing is, "your account is not insufficient so I am not sure why this has happened." When this review asks for the date of my experience, the honest answer is every day. If they looked at my call history, they would see I contact them weekly and sometimes daily. I truly regret putting money into QB and wasting so much time dealing with problems like this.

Several people can work at the same time

Pros

Being cloud-based is a real advantage because several people can work in the system at the same time without any issues.

Cons

Payroll is where it really falls short. There still isn't proper payroll control or the functionality you'd expect. On top of that, charges are now based on active employees instead of only the employees actually paid during the billing month. If you have on-call staff, you still get charged for them even when they were not paid. That means we have to manually mark them inactive every month just to avoid unnecessary billing. It feels like everything QuickBooks does ends up adding extra work and more steps for the client.

Never ran into any problems

Pros

It has been very user-friendly and works really well for us. We usually don't run into problems while using it and when something does come up, it's typically simple to fix so we can get back to work without much interruption.

Cons

It did take some time to get everyone at the company comfortable with switching to a new system but once that adjustment period passed, it has worked well. Every now and then there are small hiccups that can be a little distracting but overall it's simple to use once you become familiar with it.

Helpful reminder feature for unpaid invoices

Pros

Being able to sign in from anywhere with an internet connection has been one of the biggest advantages for me. It connects my bank account, credit cards, customer details and product and service inventory all in one place which speeds up invoicing and makes it much simpler to monitor income and expenses. The reminder feature for unpaid invoices is also really helpful for staying on top of my finances.

Cons

Some features come with extra charges and the invoice templates do not offer much room for customization.

Arrogant support

Pros

Honestly, the best part is that I'm no longer using QuickBooks.

Cons

Unless you're an accountant, they treat you terribly. They act like you're supposed to already know every answer and the way they respond can make you feel stupid. This software really feels like it's built only for accountants.

Laid out well

Pros

Everything is laid out in a way that makes the key parts of running a small business simple to understand and work through. The reports are simple to use and I can drill into the links for more detailed information whenever I need it.

Cons

The documents can't be customized enough to display certain information fields I would want included.

Didn’t take long to learn

Pros

It was very simple to use and it didn't take long to learn. It removed a lot of the hassle of managing company finances in Excel and made the whole process feel much more manageable.

Cons

pricing changed quickly without much notice. I'm now paying about twice the monthly fee compared to what I was paying when I first signed up.

Affordable pricing

Pros

Affordable pricing and a user-friendly setup are the biggest wins here. It covers everything we need to manage our small business and the cost is still lower than what some other platforms charge for payroll alone.

Cons

Customer support has been incredibly frustrating. I've easily spent 100+ hours over the past year trying to get problems resolved and too often nothing actually gets fixed, I end up handling it myself or I already know what needs to be done and it still takes forever to get someone to do it.

Helps me cut costs

Pros

It's helping me cut costs while also teaching me how to save better and make a bit of extra money.

Cons

After comparing prices, choosing this online accounting software was the simplest decision. I also appreciate that I can cancel whenever I want although I have no reason to cancel right now.

Strong fit for any business.

Pros

It has been a really solid option overall. The biggest advantages are being able to access it from the cloud, having financial management organized in one place, automating routine tasks, connecting it with other platforms and getting real-time financial reports. Those features make it a strong fit for almost any business.

Cons

A few things are less appealing though. It can take beginners a while to learn, it depends heavily on having an Internet connection and the subscription price can feel a bit expensive.

Extremely buggy

Pros

It includes most of the functionality we need and doesn't come across as a watered-down alternative to desktop software. Getting started is fairly simple at first and the system is initially simple to use.

Cons

That said, the platform is incredibly buggy and support is basically nonexistent. Entire modules can stop functioning, including payroll and resolving those problems can take weeks or even months. That's a serious issue. Customer support is terrible, they don't call back when they promise to and they won't connect you with a supervisor or anyone who can actually escalate the case. Every time you reach out again, you end up explaining everything from the beginning. In the end, when something breaks, nobody takes responsibility and you're left to deal with it alone. It's also worth knowing that the U.S. and Canadian versions are treated like completely different products which makes finding third-party integrations for your specific region much harder.

Lovely AI features

Pros

Having the banking connected directly in it is really helpful and the AI features are a nice addition that make the platform feel more advanced.

Cons

The biggest frustration right now is the recent invoice update. I can't properly see the product and service section anymore and it gets cut off when the description field is too long, even though I usually don't need that section to take up so much space. It would also help a lot to have an automated invoice creation system since that would make running the business much faster.

Support failures cost me money

Pros

The setup is simple to use and the invoicing side looks polished and professional.

Cons

Technical support is basically nonexistent. Because of QuickBooks' poor customer service and the fact that I still couldn't connect a business PayPal account for nearly six months, it ended up costing me hundreds while both my bookkeeper and I kept chasing a resolution with their useless support team. It's no surprise they're losing customers to competitors in large numbers.

Helpful support and friendly tools

Pros

Right away, the part that worked best for me was how user-friendly it is, along with the support available through different channels like chat, forums and community discussions.

Cons

Even though the platform is user-friendly, the learning curve can vary depending on the person and it still took me some time to fully understand it and adjust it to fit my needs.

bad after-sales service

Pros

I honestly haven't seen any real benefit because the after-sales support has been poor and no one has helped us move from the PC version to Online or transfer all of our data.

Cons

The biggest problem has been the bad after-sales service. We've had no proper help switching from the PC version to Online or migrating our data and even after paying for a full year, we still can't actually use the online service.
