Great for leaves, attendance, payslips, and goals

Pros

At my company I use Workday to record leaves, track attendance and view a full-year calendar so I can plan ahead. we can also access our payslips there which other tools don't provide. It additionally supports skill development goals that I need to complete each month for easier planning and HR record keeping

Cons

Overall I don't have many complaints about Workday since it accomplishes its intended purpose but I'd appreciate a refreshed interface because it comes across as an outdated tool with overly minimal options and could use a refresh

One spot handles all requests

Pros

I really appreciate how simple it is to handle everything in one spot. Being able to request time off, review my paycheck and submit any other daily employee requests all from the same place makes life easier. Compared to systems I have used at other companies, Workday is my favorite by far.

Cons

My biggest issue with Workday is that updating certain information can be tricky. At times I make changes but the system doesn't register that I have finished the task which can be frustrating. Other than that issue, I think the platform works excellently.

All-in-one app needs expense automation

Pros

Everything is good such as benefits, pay stubs, quarterly goals and expense reports is visible in a single app. I no longer have to switch between multiple programs and there are status trackers for each item so I can quickly see where things stand.

Cons

Honestly it would help me if the app could automate some expense entries or make it easier to build templates. there's a lot of functionality packed in but I have to click through many screens to understand how everything works.

excellent features with steep costs

Pros

In my experience Workday has been an excellent solution for payroll, benefits, applicant tracking and recruiting data. Its dashboard makes it easy to see tasks, candidate feedback and scheduling at a glance. I also appreciate the strong reporting and analytics which help me monitor industry trends and measure hiring progress.

Cons

The platform is fairly complex and I faced a steep learning curve getting comfortable with it. Using the search bar to pull up candidate details requires too many extra clicks and could be simplified in the app. I have also noticed Workday tends to cost more than other ATS options.

Unified platform needs no training

Pros

Workday's interface is very user-friendly so employees can usually navigate and use the system without extensive training. It also gives me a single, unified platform that brings together several HR and finance functions, acting as a centralized hub for handling workforce management, payroll, benefits, talent management and other related tasks.

Cons

From my experience implementing Workday can be a fairly complex undertaking that requires considerable time and resources. I have seen organizations needing to invest in targeted training programs or hire external consultants to help with the setup and change management so they can achieve a smooth transition and make effective use of the platform.

packed with the powerful features

Pros

What I like most about Workday HCM are the powerful features that we can tailor to our specific requirements. At my organization we have more than a hundred work sites and certain employees pay calculations depend on where they work. Workday's compensation default functionality lets us set those rules so we don't have to enter those pay metrics manually for each location.

Cons

My biggest frustration is how US-centric the system feels. many features appear to be built around American HR practices and don't account for cultural and procedural differences in other countries. To adapt it to our local ways of working we end up investing a significant amount of time and resources into customization which is quite burdensome.

Search feature finds feedback quickly

Pros

Workday is pretty user-friendly and keeps things simple. The search feature has been a real lifesaver too as with so many sections, it makes finding something specific like feedback I have received, quick and easy.

Cons

I find the text box for writing my performance review falls short. Whenever I paste content, the spacing gets messed up and lines don't align correctly which makes composing and presenting my review frustrating and less polished than it should be.

Consolidated information easier to locate

Pros

I appreciate that organizational information is consolidated on a single platform which makes it easier to locate everything in one place.

Cons

Sometimes I end up clicking through multiple links just to reach data that should be easily accessible so navigation can feel unnecessarily complex.

search bar is proven helpful

Pros

Workday is pretty easy to get around. I can access what I need via several different routes. The search bar is especially handy and helps me move through the system.

Cons

It's a huge platform and I feel it's better suited to large organizations or businesses that are scaling quickly. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it for a company with fewer than 500 employees.

proven a very useful tool

Pros

In my role, Workday has been incredibly helpful for viewing my profile in a clear organized format. I am also able to pull up colleagues profiles easily which makes it much simpler to get to know the people I work with. It also offers useful tools like a compensation dashboard and a leave dashboard.

Cons

There isn't much I dislike about Workday but some alerts don't arrive via email so I can miss them. Because of that I have to log into Workday regularly to check whether any notifications showed up, instead of being informed automatically through my inbox.

overtime calculation is not a problem

Pros

It's easy to log daily hours and request time off. The overtime rounding is much better now like way more accurate than our old system.

Cons

It took me a while to get comfortable with the navigation on the homepage. Within Workday, each page is labeled as an 'app' which I find a bit confusing. For example, there's a time app, an absence app and an employee information app and I still haven't worked out a smooth, efficient workflow.

One-stop hub improves HR workflows

Pros

I have found Workday HCM to be a comprehensive, all-in-one platform that when set up properly can significantly improve HR business workflows and serve as a centralized, one-stop hub for my employees.

Cons

When my organization has a lot of bespoke HR processes and leadership isn't willing to follow standard best practices, I have found that getting the platform configured the way I need often isn't feasible.
