Takes too much of my time

Pros

It pings me every single day of the week to complete tasks, even though I have already marked myself as off work or on vacation in the system and all my details reflect that.

Cons

Now I am stuck putting in several extra hours every single week to handle HR-related tasks that should be their responsibility, instead of HR acting as a support arm of the organization. It ends up adding more work, paperwork and obstacles that slow me down from doing my actual job.

provide wide range of features

Pros

What I appreciate the most are the extensive features and the truly seamless workflow.

Cons

I would say the biggest downside is how costly it is compared to alternatives.

Cloud platform allows graphical analysis

Pros

one of the major benefits of Workday HCM is how effortlessly it ties into the primary Workday platform. Because it runs in the cloud, it brings consistency and is reliably available. Workday handles routine operations, while Workday HCM empowers HR to perform visual, graphical analyses over time and makes it simple to slice and dice data for deeper insights.

Cons

I like how easy the interface is to use but sometimes it feels too simple and does not have the depth I need for complex data. When I try to do deeper analysis as a power user some features are not as easy as I'd like. I am not asking for a redesign but I'd just like better documentation, a stronger knowledge base and smarter search that works with natural language. If a search does not find anything, it would be great to post questions directly to a community forum or the development team. I know some of that may already exist but it's important to keep improving. Also please include real users in testing as getting feedback from people like us would make updates much more practical.

Easy employee lookups for demographics

Pros

For me Workday makes it simple to look up employees and see their work alignments which helps when I am creating targeted distro lists and demographic breakdowns.

Cons

I wish Workday made it simpler for employees to dive into particular management chains and to export that data more easily.

Overwhelming at first becomes easy

Pros

Workday is one of the best HR systems out there. Learning it has opened up many job opportunities for me. At first, it felt overwhelming but after one training course and about a month of practice, it became surprisingly easy to use. It is also essential because it supports other key parts of Workday, like security and business processes.

Cons

From my experience it is definitely a pricey solution that tends to be adopted only by larger organizations. I rarely see small or medium-sized businesses using it which means if I leave a job at a company that uses Workday and want to move to something similar, I generally have to look for another large employer. The training for Workday can be costly too, plus it's usually delivered as group classes rather than one on one coaching. While the support is technically competent, in my case issues sometimes take a while to be resolved and they don't offer live chat help. The part I struggle with most is Workday Learning that's been the biggest problem area for my company.

User-friendly access to company documents

I am impressed by how user friendly the interface is as it gives me quick access to key company documents and really helps me better understand our workforce.

Cons

Personally, I don't have any dislikes as it suits my needs perfectly and works reliably whenever I use it.

Basic tracking saves scheduling time

Pros

One of the features I find most helpful is the tracking as it's pretty basic. Also I am impressed at how user-friendly the interface is and being able to compare my working hours with those of coworkers has saved me a surprising amount of time. Overall the program has made scheduling my work far easier than jotting everything into my calendar.

Cons

At first it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out all of the features. There are so many different parts to the program that I needed a bit more time to learn how to use some of them and that learning curve made using it take longer for me than I expected.

Easy routine tasks with reviews

Pros

Using Workday has made it incredibly easy for everyone at our company to handle routine admin stuff like requesting time off, entering goals and career development items and browsing internal job openings. What I really appreciate is the layout they use for performance and development reviews. While many dread those quarterly check-ins, I have found it makes it quick and simple for our group to add and track their goals.

Cons

The migration from our legacy system over to Workday stretched out over several months and had to be rolled out in phases. I get that everyone needs time to adjust but it was frustrating because those of us who eagerly wanted to use the new platform early on couldn't access some features that hadn't been migrated yet which limited what we could actually do.

Good for goals hierarchy details

Pros

This tool is pretty good for checking our team's goals and overall performance. It also stores the hierarchy details that I need to make sense of reporting lines which is handy in large companies.

Cons

For me there's really nothing about this app that I dislike. It's simple to navigate and I can quickly send messages and notifications to colleagues without any fuss.

Jack of all trades, Nahh

Pros

From my experience Workday does bring a large number of systems together in one centralized place and I appreciate the wide range of features the platform covers under its umbrella.

Cons

I honestly think jack of all trades, master of none fits Workday well. It has many features but they often feel unpolished as many parts are overly complicated. Though I knew switching from our old system would not be the same but even simple tasks like filling out timesheets or managing hiring have become frustratingly difficult.

Never crashes, manual entries take time

Pros

It never crashes, it's easy to use and the screens are clear and easy to read.

Cons

I have to enter everything manually. the system doesn't automatically create deductions or earnings for employees which adds extra work.

User-friendly and easily accessible

Pros

Workday is incredibly user-friendly. As an employee or manager, I can easily access everything such as clocking hours, checking time off, reviewing benefits, reading the handbook and more. Plus when we use it for job postings and applications, the hiring process feels simple and well organized.

Cons

I don't have any drawbacks to report. I genuinely like this platform and would love to see more organizations adopt it for posting jobs and providing employee resources.

Dashboard displays career performance history

Pros

When I open the Workday dashboard, I can view all the information I need such as my career details, performance records and work history are all right there and it makes navigating my employment data so much easier.

Cons

I'd like the dashboard to include visual elements though some kind of chart or percentage indicators for my metrics would really help me understand trends faster.

Easy integration but confusing hierarchy

Pros

Workday's tools make it easy for me to add and manage users and I appreciate the platform's flexibility when it comes to integrating with other systems.

Cons

In my experience some of the built-in HR structures, like the hierarchy, feel confusing and don't suit every business model.

All HR functions accessible in one spot

Pros

the standout feature of Workday is that it brings all HR-related functions together in one spot so employees can easily access everything. I can both give and receive feedback through the platform, check and change my benefits, use the learning tools, view my payslips and update my bank account details when needed.

Cons

I don't like that users aren't able to personalize the website to fit their own needs which feels limiting. I am also annoyed by the fact that I can only split my paycheck across three bank accounts, as that restriction doesn't work well for my financial setup.

Covers all areas, interface is unmanageable

Pros

For me it covers every area you'd expect for HR administration such as payroll, performance tracking, recruiting and benefits administration so I consider it an excellent solution for all HR and benefits-related needs.

Cons

I find the user interface pretty clunky. For instance, when I am entering performance reviews or leaving recruiting feedback, it feels like I am using software from the early 2000s. The whole UI and visual design need a big overhaul.

Friendly interface makes navigation fun

Pros

I have found it really easy to use, with a friendly interface that makes navigating the system pretty easy and fun.

Cons

That said, I think the interface feels a little dated almost like something from the early days of the internet and could really benefit from a visual refresh because a simple GUI is great but one that's outdated just doesn't feel as good.

makes reporting pretty slow

Pros

Honestly there is absolutely nothing about it that excites me. I am not enthusiastic about any feature of this product. I truly dread having to rely on it every day for recruiting.

Cons

I work at a public company that builds great collaboration software so I know what user-friendly looks like. And this tool is nothing like that. I honestly wonder what their engineering team spends time on. I cannot take the good reviews seriously. Every page in it takes forever to reach like a ten-click journey. You cannot move quickly. Reporting and filtering are frustrating and barely usable. If you drill down through several screens and hit back, it kicks you all the way to the start, losing all your progress. The platform is not user friendly at all as it's a little off and adds unnecessary steps instead of simplifying work. And the Greenhouse integration? In my experience it's terrible.

Fully integrated and eliminates multiple systems

Pros

What I really like is how everything is fully integrated. it's a single platform I use for performance reviews, leave and absence tracking, employee transfers and more. Because of Workday's breadth, I don't have to juggle multiple systems to handle different HR processes.

Cons

There are a few things I find frustrating. For example, terminating an employee is a long, complicated process. Almost every task needs approval so even simple requests can get stuck in the workflow. Timing rules are also annoying as updates have to be made in strict order. If I enter something for June 2021, I cannot add or change anything for May or April without deleting the June entry first. That makes fixing or backdating info really painful.
