Outstanding efficiency but too many steps

Pros

This platform is outstanding for getting work done efficiently and saving time. It's incredibly helpful for simplifying the whole process.

Cons

Honestly I get overwhelmed when there are too many steps to follow. at times it feels like too much to handle.

so much to like about it

Pros

I have liked the goal-setting tools and the ability to submit feedback to senior staff, plus the onboarding process and the leave request functionality.

Cons

A lot of fonts aren't available when I am writing notes or giving feedback and several essential text-editing tools are missing in Workday.

Single recruiting hub for HR needs

Pros

The available options, integration, navigation, single recruiting hub, internal mobility, annual review, personnel tracking, reporting is something I like most.

Cons

I have found it clunky at times for admins, needing specialized experience to fully use the entire system though.

Practical dashboard with group permissions

Pros

Overall the software is good as the dashboard and user interface are highly practical and easy to use. I am able to grant access to my staff and create separate user groups with distinct editing permissions for each.

Cons

One downside I have noticed is that overtime is only assessed based on the month when it's worked which means, unfortunately, payouts are always postponed by one month.

Learn it in one week

Pros

I have been using Workday for about four years now and I picked it up in roughly a week that's how simple it felt. In my experience it's ideal for mid-sized to large organizations because it lets you build reports and analyze data effectively. It's useful for everyone across the company, whether a regular employee, a manager or HR staff which was the role I held.

Cons

It would have helped to have a clear catalog of every report I can run in Workday. Maybe such a list exists but I never had access to it where I worked which made finding the right reports harder than it needed to be.

needs modern technology upgrades

Pros

it's a one-stop, all-in-one HRMS solution that covers everything I need.

Cons

I find it a bit clunky and not particularly user-friendly. the UX could definitely use improvement. There are plenty of newer tools on the market that bring more modern technologies and built-in analytics.

Market leader comes with a learning curve

Pros

Workday HCM is the current market leader as most companies already use it and as an HR professional, I find it helpful in many ways. You can send tasks to multiple people and groups at once which saves a lot of manual work. Setting up business processes is easy too. I mean even someone with little experience can do it by dragging and dropping tasks into place. It is also simple to manage employee profiles and see how they connect within the team and company structure. Anyone can open a profile and trace the links to managers and leadership which makes understanding relationships much easier. The interface is clean and colorful. It can be a bit slow sometimes but it's usually stable which I appreciate. I also like that notifications are linked to email as it helps me remember outstanding tasks.

Cons

One thing I don't like is the learning curve that comes with Workday. in my experience it adds complexity and makes the application feel quite difficult to use compared with other systems.

Real-time balances for all leave

Pros

I am really happy with the features. Like having one clear place to record unpaid, paid, paternity and special time off and instantly check my remaining balance is fantastic. I also find it extremely useful that the balances update in real time and show up live.

Cons

As per me I find navigating the portal and switching between tabs a bit unmanageable. Also I wish the design were smoother more like Apple's so the user experience felt cleaner and more user friendly.

Configurable with pending payroll visibility

Pros

its controls are surprisingly easy to use when handling my everyday tasks. the system manages processes that require tracking and accounting for the upkeep of human capital and that has been very helpful across many organizations. My employees and other staff reliably receive the commissions they earn for the work they regularly do and one feature I particularly value is the visibility into pending payroll reports and the exact amounts that need to be disbursed. This level of support is a big help for many companies. Also I appreciate that the software is configurable across most of its functions because we can tailor it so long as customizations adhere to our requirements and framework properly.

Cons

One improvement I'd like to see is a more visually driven interface, with stronger illustrations and a more decorated home page that uses striking, consistent content to showcase operational processes within the platform. It would also help if the product included clearer learning curves or guided training so I could become skilled at using the app because several of its features feel fairly complex for newcomers and can be intimidating without structured onboarding.

Benefits PTO reviews altogether

Pros

Been able to bring together my benefits, PTO and performance review options into a single place is the thing I like. It feels much more reliable and seems to have far less downtime than the system we used before. Plus Workday supports standard user logins, password setup and an online timesheet features I was specifically looking for. What I really appreciate is having HR tools, common questions and related information all located in one convenient spot.

Cons

My only real complaint is that I could not update certain details like the reviewer for a team member when we moved promotions from the old system. Making changes feels like a long, complicated process, both on my end and when it has to go through people outside my team. And I am not sure if it's because I do not have the right access or if HR set it up that way but either way, it slows me down.

Easy time tracking with quick links

Pros

One thing I really like is how easy time tracking and time-off requests are as they have been very useful. Also the system works well for my teammates too. I can edit entries and send them to my manager without any trouble. I also rely on the notifications that remind everyone to update their info during the day as we use that all the time. The quick-link feature is a lifesaver when I am in a hurry as it gets me where I need to go instantly. Payroll tools are also helpful and I like being able to view past paychecks whenever I need to.

Cons

It can be pretty draining to go through the whole process. Whenever I change something, it gets routed up to senior management which slows things down. I found the self-assessment workflow and its goals especially confusing and harder than I expected. There were several steps that I couldn't make sense of and I wasn't clear why they were necessary. To me it felt like the extra steps were just trying to force everything online instead of letting us upload Word documents for our assessments and goals.

Time-off balances cause payroll issues

Pros

Workday consolidates and replaces several different software tools our institution used.

Cons

Even though I like some features, I have found it far from user-friendly. After watching training videos, I still struggle with basic tasks like fixing time-off balances which should be simple. At my organization, leave is only tracked in hours and there is no way to see it in days or half-days. That makes it frustrating to figure out how much time I actually have left. Worse, it's caused major payroll issues like hundreds of employees were not paid. That forced many of my coworkers to work huge amounts of overtime just to fix the problems. As of October, I was told hundreds of people still had not been paid since August.

manages entire employee lifecycle well

Pros

The system offers a huge range of features and I have been able to customize it to meet my business needs. In my experience it can function as the central HR platform, letting me manage the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through performance management, payroll, compensation and benefits, to handling leavers and off-boarding processes.

Cons

When I purchased it 'off the shelf' I found it quite challenging to get up and running and I needed formal training to learn how to use all of its capabilities properly. It's not something you can pick up quickly if you come in with little or no previous knowledge of the platform so be prepared to invest time in learning.

Practical features are buried deep in menus

Pros

Workday offers a bunch of practical features that handle a broad set of scenarios. The layout is arranged so it's relatively easy to get to most areas and there is a lot of useful data available for someone using the system. Although I recognize there are probably superior products out there, in my experience it covers the essential tasks I need it for and is at least dependable for the typical things I would expect to do with it.

Cons

It's frustrating that much of the functionality I want is tucked away in spots that are surprisingly obscure and difficult to locate. For example, when I try to look up my salary and other pay details, I usually have to click through four or five different screens, then hunt around a menu bar in an odd corner of the interface before I finally find it. That kind of workflow is far from ideal and makes the whole experience unnecessarily clunky.
