Neat separation with editable profiles

Pros

Different work-life functions are neatly separated and arranged which makes it simpler to both find and use them. The part I appreciate most is the user profile area because it contains all required information across different tabs. It also allows immediate edits when permitted so I can change things on the spot and feel more secure.

Cons

Some parts of it feel pretty basic. For example, when I apply for jobs through it, I have to re-enter the same info like gender, location and work authorization every single time. Also it would be much more efficient if those details could be saved in a user profile once and reused. That would save a lot of time for anyone who uses it often. I have noticed similar repetitive issues in other parts of the employee dashboard too.

Clear self-explanatory homepage menu

Pros

I really like how user friendly Workday is. On the homepage there's a clear, self-explanatory menu so I can quickly locate the various functions that it offers.

Cons

It would be great if I could simply click and drag blocks of time instead of having to type in each start and end time separately. That change would save me a few minutes whenever I am scheduling and I am picturing a click-and-drag setup similar to the one used in when2meet polls.

Easy navigation even for non-tech savvy

Pros

I am really impressed by how user-friendly Workday is! The navigation is simple and easy to learn even if you are not very tech-savvy. Also I can enter hours, request time off, find and connect with colleagues and build my professional profile that too all in one place. So I highly recommend it.

Cons

To be honest I don't have anything to add here. I have never had a negative experience with Workday, whether I am working remotely or on site. It's truly an excellent product!

Org charts with simple expenses

Pros

Overall I am a big fan of the organizational charts as they make it easy to see reporting lines and structure. Submitting expenses is simple too so I rarely get stuck. Managing PTO is smooth and works well for my planning. Plus I find its integration with Anaplan to be reliable and seamless.

Cons

I'd like more transparency around how the HR team handles data. Also I wish I could view more about their processes and the controls they use to manage it.

Centralized spot with complete audit trails

Pros

For me it provides one centralized spot to handle every type of task, complete audit trails, remote access, plus a host of other useful capabilities.

Cons

I haven't found any features I dislike so far although as I continue exploring additional functionality I might discover something I would want to comment on later.

Central HCM hub from browser

Pros

Workday's interface is really user friendly and simple to use. For me it acts as my company's central HCM hub that I can open from the web and reach straight from my browser whenever I need it.

Cons

A few of the features in Workday left me puzzled. For instance, there's a 'time off' section that I initially assumed showed my personal leave but it actually displays my team's time off instead. I discovered my own vacation and leave details live in a separate area instead.

5.0

Unified platform with privacy controls

Pros

It is a single, unified platform that handles all HR-related tasks. Also I really like the clean, user-friendly interface. Plus it makes keeping the team organized simple and I can easily view the team's hierarchy. Running payroll, tracking timesheets and managing leaves are pretty easy. I also find giving feedback during appraisals convenient. And there's a great deal of control over who can access what information which helps with authorization and privacy.

Cons

However I do notice that despite the extensive feature set, a lot of organizations don't use the capabilities effectively. In practice there are still numerous small legacy systems hanging around for various HR sub-functions which fragments work and reduces efficiency.

Internal jobs with easy referrals

Pros

Workday lets employees apply for internal jobs across the company and makes referring others very easy. I especially like the filtering tools as you can narrow openings by location, role or manager. Recruiters also find it simple and quick to post job updates through it every day.

Cons

Honestly I don't have any complaints. it's a great application.

HR functions with useful analytics insights

Pros

I really like how easy it is to locate what I need. I mean things like timesheets, the internal Career page for job postings, payroll information and the database for staff and faculty members are easy to find and use.

Cons

Often I find myself having to search through three or four different sections before I finally locate my tax or W-2 documents because it's not always obvious which folder or category within the system they belong to.

Links candidates to employee records

Pros

What I appreciate is being able to use it both as an applicant tracking system and as a central HR database and I link candidates to employee records once they're hired and fully onboarded.

Cons

I cannot view candidates on requisitions that have been assigned to other recruiters or users inside Workday.

Azure connection reduces routine work

Pros

Overall I am really glad we connected Workday to Azure Active Directory. Now employees can update their own info directly in it that too without needing to submit tickets or wait for help. Giving people more control over their own experience is a big win too. I also like the clean, simple user interface and the admin side feels great and easy to manage. Overall I am happy with how this solution has reduced routine work for our team while still giving us the control and insights we need.

Cons

To be honest I haven't explored every capability this product offers so I cannot point to any specific things I dislike right now. Because we haven't tried all of its features, there are areas I simply haven't formed an opinion on yet and therefore cannot fairly criticize. For the particular set of functions we depend on today, however, I do like the product and genuinely appreciate the features it provides.

One-stop shop covers everything needed

Pros

I have found it to be a true one-stop shop that covers everything from compensation and payroll to talent management and recruiting, plus other related tools.

Cons

It took me quite a while to get comfortable with the setup and sometimes I didn't realize I was doing something wrong until it was already too late and issues had arisen.

Great layout, occasional text bugs

Pros

I find the design and overall layout really well executed and I can navigate it easily without any trouble.

Cons

In my experience I have stumbled across small bugs every now and then. For example, formatting sometimes doesn't align with the background and I'll notice text appearing displaced from where it should sit inside a block.

Clear dashboard with powerful recruiting

Pros

At my company, Workday handles payroll, time off, hiring, performance reviews and more and it keeps everything running smoothly. Most tasks are easy to manage and everything is laid out in a clear, user-friendly way. When employees submit requests, they show up on my dashboard making tracking simple. We can also bill other teams for project hours and I can easily update things like pay rates, hours, departments or project IDs. The recruiting tools are powerful too as they link to candidates social profiles and let me filter by location, experience, current role and more. I also like being able to send bulk emails to candidates. In our field, applicants often need to share work samples so being able to remind them by email without using my personal address is really helpful.

Cons

There are a few things that could make it much better. I often see extra Ok or Submit buttons that feel unnecessary and could be simplified. Some features don't link back to the original record. For example, if someone sends me hours, I wish I could click straight to their timesheet. Sometimes I need to change a department or pay rate but the inbox item won't let me so I have to take extra steps. The recruiting tools also need to support more file types. In our field, we ask for mp3 or mp4 demos but over 70% of candidates don't send them even when it's clearly stated. If the application required uploading those files, we would get better candidates and save time and money.
