Workflows are easy to customize and manage

Pros

I have notice that the workflows I build in Workday are easy to customize and simple to manage.

Cons

For me the UI's responsiveness and the animations feel sluggish and could use some improvement.

5 stars!!

Pros

Felt really useful for my day to day work. I could log and report my time, complete the modules assigned to me and also check any tasks that were still waiting to be finished. Also, it made it simple to review my benefits and browse job opportunities available within my company.

Cons

No real problems came up. It covered everything I needed.

UI is great

Pros

After switching from separate HCM and Workforce Management tools to this one, the rollout went smoothly.. We all started adopting it quickly, without a lot of confusion or friction. The material based UI feels adaptive and friendly which made the transition much easier.

Cons

Getting the different modules implemented well takes more hands on expertise during setup.

good experience

Pros

Pretty simple to navigate and it's genuinely adaptive. When new hires join and aren't familiar with the system yet, they can get up to speed quickly without too much extra effort. We also rolled out a series of upgrades over time and each one improved how things work making the whole process better every round.

Cons

We weren't able to use it on our own cloud environment which leaves the organization more exposed to potential cyber attacks.

love its mobile functionality

Pros

Being able to tailor Workday HCM so it aligns with our company's specific requirements is pretty easy. And I like having full HCM functionality available right from the mobile app.

Cons

Sometimes the customization options bother me. I need to rigorously document every change and stay mindful of how those tweaks might impact other parts of the system.

strong data management

Pros

It has been something I genuinely enjoy using. I touch it every day for things like data work, managing job requisitions and overall data management tasks. It's a really solid tool, there's a lot it covers out of the box. One thing to keep in mind is that our company operates across 100+ countries and each location has its own little quirks and requirements. That makes it tricky to keep everything perfectly up to date all the time. That said, when the underlying data is clean and well maintained, it ends up giving you pretty much everything you need.

Cons

Feels like the "cons" side is mostly covered already in the points above, mainly around how easy it can be to run into issues if your data and processes aren't aligned across all those country differences.

simplifies payroll for us

Pros

Payroll, vacation requests, time off, hiring, performance management and plenty of other HR/admin tasks are handled much more efficiently with it. Most of what you need to do feels simple and the layout is pretty adaptive. The dashboard shows the requests or needs coming from our team which makes it easier to stay on top of things. When we have to bill other business units for projects and hours, the system lets you adjust details like pay rate, hours, department and the project ID. On the recruiting side, the app also includes direct links to applicants' Facebook and Twitter profiles, plus the ability to narrow down candidates using different filters such as location, experience and current role.

Cons

A few parts of the system can be confusing during a normal day. The "time off" feature is a good example, it's easy to assume it shows your own personal time off at work but it's actually showing vacation taken by your team. You end up needing to switch to a different option just to see your own free time and that extra step is often unclear at first.

Least favorite tool of mine

Pros

Workday's interface is simple and it's very easy to learn quickly.

Cons

I have been recruiting for almost ten years and it is by far my least favorite ATS. Plus it locks you into a complex workflow that makes everything inefficient. Things that used to take 15 minutes like reviewing candidates, assigning tasks or posting jobs now take hours. Also there are almost no batch actions so I have to do things one by one instead of in bulk. The recruiting tools feel like an afterthought, not something built with real recruiter input. Overall it has added at least ten hours of extra admin work each week, the time I used to spend actually recruiting.

clean UI

Pros

My favorite part is the user interface. It's simple to navigate for pretty much anyone and it honestly takes almost no training to get up to speed. I also really enjoy the personnel reports I can generate through it especially when working with our HRIS specialist.

Cons

One thing that dragged out was the implementation timeline. It took several months before their team was able to get everything implemented and take us live.

Schedule an audit with download notifications

Pros

Workday recently introduced a schedule review feature that lets me produce a schedule audit instead of having to manually verify each associate's timecard dates one by one. I also appreciate that when I download pay stubs or tax documents, I can choose to receive a notification when they're ready rather than sitting on the same page waiting for the download to finish.

Cons

When I am running schedules and correcting timecards, for example, when someone forgets to clock out on an overnight shift the system doesn't repopulate who the provider was so I end up having to either look it up in Humanity or contact the employee directly to confirm who they worked with. It's a relatively small glitch but it can become quite time-consuming.

so convenient to use

Pros

Feels basically foolproof to navigate. The layout across each section is really simple and due date reminders are hard to miss. I'm also a big fan of how the pay portal is organized, it makes it much easier to understand how each paycheck is built and you can drill down into things like withholdings. Exporting pay statements is simple too which saves a lot of hassle when you need records.

Cons

The job tree view for my own organization is a bit tiring to browse in it. It might be specific to how my company has it set up but I still wish the interface were more adaptive to explore.

All HR data is consolidated

Pros

In my experience Workday brings a lot of HR data together in a single spot. Even though my company still uses several different tools to manage human resources, I really like having all of the details consolidated in one place that's easily and widely accessible.

Cons

I found the biggest downside when rolling out Workday was its lack of compatibility with our other systems which forced us to move data by hand. As a result, moving to it fully has been delayed even more than anticipated. Still, I consider this a relatively minor problem that we've since fixed.

Unified platform that drives smarter decisions

Pros

Now we have one unified platform that everyone across retail, corporate and manufacturing can use to access their personal information, performance records, job history, benefits, compensation, recruiting data and much more. For me it's the technology that lets us really dig into our workforce composition, produce useful analytics and make smarter, data-driven business decisions overall.

Cons

I find logging in multiple times a day frustrating when the multi-factor authentication is clunky. the sign-in routine becomes a real nuisance. If I could leave a device authenticated for longer stretches, the platform would feel much smoother and perform better for daily use.

well organized and load quickly

Pros

The interface is really simple to get around and keep organized. I appreciate that the icons clearly represent their functions and the layout is highly visual overall. Pages load quickly and I haven't run into any glitches at all.

Cons

There are so many settings that it can be hard to find what you are looking for. I also cannot figure out how to clear the notification badge which is annoying and makes daily use less convenient.

way too confusing layout

Pros

I can manage basic things like requesting time off without contacting HR. That's such a low standard and honestly I wish we'd switch back to a far more user-friendly HRIS.

Cons

As an employee, I find it nearly impossible to use. Every section looks like it was made by a different company such as the visuals don't match, labels are inconsistent and the layout changes every time I click. I cannot even figure out how to get from the homepage to a proper login screen. Plus simple things like finding my start date force me to dig through confusing menus and useless options, like an empty Favorites page. I also see odd things, like a full list of terminated employees. And using the browser's back button often breaks the whole app which is incredibly frustrating.

Perfect for us

Pros

It's honestly the best option in it for improving HR and talent acquisition and management workflows. It supports anonymous employee surveys so staff can share feedback about their managers, plus it helps shape development plans for candidates based on their department. Also, it tracks employee leave and employee requests and everything is available through both desktop and mobile versions which makes day to day HR tasks a lot more manageable.

Cons

Everything has been working really well, with no critical issues or real downsides to report, overall it feels amazing.

Global platform with mobile functionality

Pros

This was the first global HCM system we rolled out for employees across the globe. It supports the languages we require, feels user friendly, is simple to navigate and has the best mobile functionality.

Cons

At times I find it hard to make adjustments or customizations because requests typically originate from Workday's side, go through analysis and prioritization and only after that are they deployed to the live environment for all users.
