quick setup

Pros

This HRIS doesn't feel boring at all, it's more playful and fancy compared to other HRIS platforms I've used. A few of the modules are genuinely simple to work with and the system is really useful for managing core HR processes. It also covers almost everything you'd expect across HR workflows inside the platform.

Cons

Reporting can be frustrating. The source behind the trended worker data isn't clear and combining data from different sources isn't very adaptive. Building dashboards for senior management is also not as smooth as it should be so we often end up using Power BI and exporting sensitive data to make it work. There are also security limitations when it comes to matrix organizations.

Clean layout enables effective navigation

Pros

Workday HCM is good because its clean, user friendly layout and smooth user flow make it easy for me and my HR colleagues and other employees across the company to navigate and use effectively.

Cons

A recurring weekly downtime was one frustrating issue I ran into with Workday HCM and it seriously hurt both my productivity and overall experience using the system.

Easy to learn software

Pros

It's clear to me that practically anyone can pick up Workday from an HRIS standpoint although mastering it takes years of training and hands-on experience. As a regular end user, I have found it quite useful for organizing and managing data.

Cons

Creating calculated fields is a real headache as I routinely spend hours upon hours trying to assemble a calc field and just hope it ends up working correctly.

Great software

Pros

I appreciate that it is built so that pretty much anyone can learn to use it from an HRIS standpoint though it does take a long time and a lot of training to get truly comfortable with the system. For me, it's also been genuinely useful for handling and organizing data.

Cons

Calculated fields can be frustrating, I've spent hours trying to set one up and still end up hoping it behaves the way I intended.

impressed with the functionality

Pros

Workday HCM really stands out thanks to its adaptive layout and overall smooth user experience. It's simple enough for HR teams to manage effectively, while employees across the company can also navigate it without too much friction.

Cons

A recurring weekly downtime was pretty frustrating since it regularly disrupted productivity and hurt the user experience.

smooth navigation with community support

Pros

Using Workday Community along with Success Plan support, I have found it much quicker and more insightful to dig into bugs, fixes and feature improvements. The interface feels user friendly so I can back up virtually any part of Workday without hitting major snags as the core setup stays uniform across modules and business processes rely on the same underlying structures, objects and instances. Because everything's so interconnected, navigating and maintaining the system feels genuinely seamless in my experience.

Cons

There's honestly very little that bothers me about the product. If I had to pick one area that's weakest, it would be the Benefits module particularly the reporting side which I find clunky and limited compared to the rest of the platform.

Centralized interface saves admin time

Pros

Workday HCM has made HR tasks so much easier for me as I love that everything is centralized and the interface feels uesr friendly. Its self-service capabilities shave off a lot of admin time and the mobile app is really handy when I need to check my pay or put in a time-off request from anywhere, any time.

Cons

Sometimes I find the navigation a bit confusing. Things that should be simple like finding the right leave field or switching between views can take more clicks than expected which slows me down on routine tasks.

Mobile enrollment with strong security

Pros

The Employee Self-Service tools the BPM capabilities and the strong security framework is my fav. what stands out most to me is the Open Enrollment feature in the mobile app.

Cons

From my experience getting tasks done as an end user often requires clicking through far too many buttons so I think they need to focus on enhancing the overall usability.

Clean interface with machine learning

Pros

Its clean user interface, the way it supports flexible business processes, the helpful machine-learning suggestions and the unified, scalable platform is something I like about it.

Cons

In my experience the mobile app though improving isn't yet on par with the browser experience and I have found customization and reporting can be limited, often forcing me to buy extra modules like Prism or Extend which end up being quite costly.

Highly customizable for compliance needs

Pros

I am really impressed with how much can be customized. We can configure all the elements our organization needs to monitor compliance, manage documents, oversee HR, run payroll and support learning and talent development.

Cons

Regarding communication I wish there were more ways to reach and engage our end users. The UI remains my team's highest priority and although Workday has been improving the experience, I believe there is still a significant amount more that could be achieved within employee and manager self-service by applying AI capabilities more broadly and smarter across the entire platform.

Great visibility with self-service features

Pros

The self-service features and the end-user experience was great. in my past work we never had that level of visibility with our former provider.

Cons

While the platform's extensive configurability makes it adaptable across many industries, in my experience that flexibility means we must either cultivate internal super users or pay for external development support.

highly customizable

Pros

I really appreciate how customizable the whole system is. It lets our organization set up exactly what we need to manage compliance tracking, document management, HR workflows, payroll processes, plus learning and talent management.

Cons

Would like to see more ways to communicate with end users. UI/UX is a top priority for my team and although it keeps improving, I still feel like there's a lot more room to enhance the ESS and MSS experience... especially by using AI more effectively across the platform to support users.

Strong assistance

Pros

Using both the Community and the Success Plan help is a huge win for tracking down bugs, validating fixes and evaluating enhancements.. it makes the whole process feel a lot more efficient and gives better context. The interface is also simple and because the core foundation stays consistent across modules, it's easy to support just about any part of Workday. Business processes reuse the same core structure, objects and instances so everything connects naturally. That interconnected setup makes navigation and day to day support feel easy across the system.

Cons

Honestly there isn't much to dislike. If I have to pick a minor weak spot, the Benefits platform and more so the reporting there could be better.

so good

Pros

The user interface feels solid and the platform has a lot of flexibility for shaping business processes. I also like the machine learning suggestions, they're genuinely helpful rather than just "extra" features. Having a unified platform that scales with growing needs is a big win for our workflow.

Cons

Mobile functionality has improved but it still doesn't consistently match the browser experience. Customization and reporting can also hit limitations and getting beyond them sometimes means adding extra modules like Prism/Extend which ends up being pretty expensive.

Pros

Employee Self-service plus the BPM and security framework have been solid. The Open Enrollment feature in the mobile app is especially useful and convenient.

Cons

all-in-one HCM with self-service

Pros

It made everyday HR tasks way more manageable for me. Everything is organized in one place and the interface feels adaptive enough that I'm not constantly hunting for what I need. The self-service options genuinely cut down the time spent on HR requests and the mobile app is a big plus, being able to check pay details or submit time, off requests anytime is really convenient.

Cons

An area I'd like to see improved is navigation. Occasionally, moving around within it feels a little unadaptive and even simple stuff, like locating the correct leave field or switching between views, can end up taking more clicks than I'd expect.

Good tool

Pros

Self-service options and the overall end user experience are genuinely impressive. Compared to our previous vendor, we've gained a much stronger level of visibility and insight.

Cons

This platform is highly configurable which helps it stay flexible across different industries. That said, you'll need super users in house (or plan to contract development support) to make the most of that flexibility.

Smooth fluid interface with support

Pros

Everything runs incredibly smoothly and feels very fluid to me. The interface is extremely user-friendly and I can reach support whenever I need assistance. I can also pull reports without hassle and confirm that documentation stays accurate and current.

Cons

I do get frustrated at times by the way it organizes folders and stores important files for end users. Other than that organizational quirk, I haven't encountered any other problems.

User-friendly team adopted without training

Pros

What I really appreciated about Workday is how user-friendly it felt. My team could pick it up and start using it with ease which was great because I didn't need to spend time training everyone on how it works.

Cons

Honestly there's nothing major I disliked about it. If I had to point out one thing, it's that the mobile app needs a strong internet connection to load which can make it tricky to use when I am away from good reception.

user friendly tool

Pros

I really appreciated how user friendly it is and how adaptive it feels to navigate. Employees were able to jump in and use it with minimal guidance which was a big help since I didn't have to spend time training people on the basics.

Cons

Nothing stands out as a true downside. The only thing worth mentioning is that the mobile app seems to depend on having a solid internet connection to load properly and that can be a little limiting when you're on the go.
