Tidy interface works reliably

Pros

Given how feature-packed it is, I find the interface tidy and everything simply works reliably.

Cons

Daily tracking shows progress over time

Pros

One thing I appreciate is that it lets me track myself every day and actually watch my progress over time.

Cons

Combines talent payroll recruitment well

Pros

Using Workday HCM, I have found it pretty good and it combines all the key capabilities I need for talent management, payroll and recruitment. I also like that it connects smoothly with other systems and performs consistently across devices

Cons

Well I find the initial configuration can be somewhat complicated to handle which is particularly challenging for smaller companies or teams without extensive IT resources

Complete platform with anywhere access

Pros

This tool is a complete, all in one HR platform that covers payroll, benefits, talent management, workforce planning and analytics. I also like its clean, easy to use interface as it's simple for both HR staff and regular employees to use. And since it is web-based, I can access it from anywhere with an internet connection which is great for remote work and managing global teams. I also rely on its detailed reports and analytics to help make better strategic decisions.

Cons

I have noticed that getting it up and running can take a lot of time, manpower and technical know-how and in many cases I have had to bring in external consultants to help with the implementation. I also felt that my team needed specific training to make the most of the platform's more advanced capabilities.

I rely on it to onboard every trainee, manage our ATS and B.A.C.L.M.S processes and I use the built-in/pre-made time-tracking blocks.

Cons

Quick login with secure information

Pros

The software is really easy to use, the login was quick and I felt my information was kept quite secure.

Cons

Sometimes it would sign me out randomly and I had to call support to get my password reset more than once.

Powerful tool for complex mergers

Pros

I am using Workday HCM right now and I find it really powerful, tying together talent management, time-off, payroll and benefits. A recent project to merge our system with another company's platform was complicated but ultimately it succeeded and everything worked out well.

Cons

I am annoyed that Workday times out way too fast when I am drafting something like an employee review and it can erase what I have written with no way to recover. It seems like our IS team could change that timeout setting but because Workday is cloud-hosted it also reacts poorly to unreliable internet which makes it fragile in those situations. We've also struggled to link it with our ADP setup for some parts of the company, meaning a few managers are unable to approve time off when their staff are based at different sites.

Quick recruiting with automated payroll

Pros

Handling employee onboarding and recruiting in Workday HCM is quick and easy as I can move candidates through the process without any hassle. It is also simple to track and manage employee time and attendance. Automating repetitive HR tasks is pretty easy too which saves me a lot of time. And when needed, I can run payroll directly through the system.

Cons

The main drawback I have noticed is that the system can become sluggish when I run several HR tasks at once, especially during peak usage.

Two years still cannot navigate

Pros

For me it's a SaaS tool that is well integrated into modern toolchains e.g Slack.

Cons

I have been using the tool for more than two years now and I still have a hard time locating what I need. Its layout and overall usability don't help me move through tasks efficiently so I often struggle to complete routine stuff. If it weren't for the shortcuts I painstakingly set up after discovering the handful of truly useful features, I'd be completely lost. Compared to other platforms it's noticeably clunkier. Take planning an absence. why must I click every single day individually? Letting me pick a range by choosing the start and end dates would be so much faster. There are a number of similar little friction points that, when added together, make Workday a frustrating experience to use.
