“handy automation on the go”
Pros
Whenever I am away from my desk, I use Xero mainly through the mobile app for a few specific tasks. It's especially useful because it automates repetitive accounting work which saves time and cuts down on manual effort.
Cons
Its mobile app still doesn't include every feature so some tools available elsewhere aren't accessible on mobile.

“clean interface and quick setup”
Pros
The interface is simple and user friendly so it didn't take long to learn and start using comfortably.
Cons
One thing that seems to be missing is the ability to lock an accounting period. Because of that, other users have accidentally changed revenue entries from four years ago.

“handy invoice notes and photo capture”
Pros
Being able to add notes to invoices and attach photos of them is really useful. It makes keeping records clearer and handling invoices much more convenient.
Cons
The thing that could be better is the bill recognition. Since many bills are usually the same, it would help a lot if the system could automatically recognize them and apply the correct pay codes without needing manual input each time.

“powerful reporting and features”
Pros
There's a huge range of functionality in Xero. It lets you handle a lot of different tasks and the number of reports you can generate is impressive.
Cons
At times it can feel a bit complicated if you don't have an accounting background. Some of the terminology is also fairly accountant-specific which can make things less user friendly.

“reliable support and simple finance management”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is how responsive the customer support team is. The software is also easy to use, the interface is very user friendly and the whole platform is simple to navigate. It works well as an all in one solution for managing my financial payment processes.
Cons
I honestly haven't run into anything that feels wrong or problematic with it.

“receipt uploads are so convenient”
Pros
Uploading receipts through the app is really convenient and easy which makes that part of the process much quicker.
Cons
One frustrating limitation is that I cannot automate report delivery to senior management. Having to manually send recurring reports to different people takes extra time and becomes a real hassle.

“bank feeds and receipt capture”
Pros
Running a small business without prior experience with Xero, I have been really happy with what it offers. Being able to link bank statements directly to Xero makes reconciling transactions much easier. Everything transfers over smoothly so there's no need to manually import transactions one by one. I also really like the receipt feature, where you can just take a photo and upload it into it.
Cons
I honestly don't have any major complaints because I am happy with the features overall. If I had to mention one minor thing, it would be needing to use the authenticator but aside from that, I don't really have any cons.

“real-time control of finances”
Pros
Having real-time visibility into my income and expenses makes it much easier to stay on top of everything and Xero covers all the accounting tasks I need. It helps me feel in control of my finances at all times.
Cons
The pricing is the biggest downside. The entry-level plan feels a bit restrictive for a freelancer because I regularly go over the bill limit yet I do not really need the extra features included in the next tier.

“Has decent core accounting tools”
Pros
Xero is easy to use and it covers all the essential functionality you need for day to day accounting.
Cons
As our business grows internationally it hasn't handled that side very well. we have had to pay for separate localized versions in different regions and then manually consolidate everything afterward. I know there are marketplace add-ons that can help but there are also all-in-one platforms out there where you can work with just one vendor instead.

“Top invoicing and finance tools”
Pros
The platform comes with strong features for handling finances, keeping track of expenses and making invoicing more efficient.
Cons
Pricing starts at $25 per month which can feel a bit expensive for freelancers or very small businesses. On top of that a lot of the more advanced capabilities are locked behind the higher-tier plans.

“fantastic budgeting and quote workflow”
Pros
From the short-term cash summary to the budget variance tool, Xero packs in a lot of genuinely useful features. We upload our budget into the system and review performance month by month and that variance tracking has been incredibly helpful. All purchase orders are created in Xero as well which keeps the finance team informed anytime someone in the business is spending money. We also use Xero quoting to send quotes to existing customers and that part of the workflow fits in really well.
Cons
Reporting feels a bit limited in my opinion. I'd really like to see more SaaS-focused reporting so I can break down invoices and track things like MRR and expansion revenue directly in it, then build reports around those metrics instead of relying on separate software.

“team-friendly access with room to grow”
Pros
One of the biggest advantages of Xero is how well it supports collaboration. Being able to add unlimited users on any plan makes a huge difference especially for small businesses where several people may need access to the books, whether that's an accountant, a bookkeeper or department managers. It's nice not having to pay extra just because more team members need visibility into the financial data as the business grows.
Cons
Well the part that makes it less appealing is the way pricing and feature limits are handled on the lower-tier plans. The Early plan is so capped at 20 invoices and 5 bills per month that it comes across more like a trial than a practical choice for a business that's starting to expand. In reality, you end up feeling pushed to upgrade which can be pretty frustrating for a small company trying to keep costs under control.

“beginner-friendly accounting with strong integrations”
Pros
Getting my finances sorted has been much simpler with Xero. Also the platform is easy to understand even for someone just starting out which makes day to day accounting feel much more manageable. On top of that it has a wide ecosystem of connected apps and those integrations help everything work together well.
