Pros
Running accounting for Dogsnhomes Rescue has been much more manageable with Xero. The interface is clean, user friendly and simple to navigate so even people without a strong accounting background can use it confidently. Everything is laid out clearly which helps us spend less time figuring out the system and more time focusing on the charity itself. We also get a lot of value from the automation tools especially bank feed imports, recurring invoices and suggested reconciliations. Those features save us a considerable amount of time and help cut down on manual mistakes. Another big advantage is the real-time dashboard which gives us an immediate view of our financial position. It makes it easier to monitor income, expenses, cash flow and budgets without waiting around for updates. Since Xero is cloud-based, we can access our accounts from anywhere at any time which is incredibly useful for a charity team that may be working remotely or checking financial information while out and about.
Cons
One downside is that payroll is not part of its standard subscription. It has to be added separately through a third-party provider which can push the total cost up.

Running the business as a Director, I rely on Xero for real-time visibility and it gives me the information I need to manage shareholder expectations through the accounting reports available in the system.
Cons
One downside is that the API feed on the banking page can be slow at times and doesn't always reflect the most up-to-date figures. That said, it still works well enough for a quick overview.

One thing that works really well is the automatic reconciliation of transactions pulled in from the bank account.
Cons
Getting comfortable with the system takes time because the learning curve is pretty steep. The small font makes it harder to read, the app feels overloaded with text and it's not very clear how to record future transactions that haven't happened yet.

Pros
Using Xero is not a hassle and the platform has clearly improved over the years. The company has put real work into making the product better especially when it comes to the user interface and reporting.
Cons
Even with those product improvements, it still hasn't addressed some of the smaller changes users have been asking for, particularly more custom text tracking fields. It currently includes two but many users would benefit from having five or even 10. Another issue is that not all of the refreshed pages have been rolled out on the web version yet. For instance, the updated Accounts Payable pages have been available for months, while Accounts Receivable is still using the older layout. It's not a dealbreaker but having a consistent design across all pages would be much better.

After using MYOB switching to Xero felt like a big step up especially when it comes to reporting and overall usability. It's much more easy to work with and gets the accounting side done better for us.
Cons
I think its inventory side could definitely be better but since this is primarily accounting software, that feels like a pretty minor issue overall.

Cons
One issue in the previous version was that backup reporting was difficult to filter although credit to the vendor for improving it in the updated version.
