bank feed disconnects drag it down

Pros

When everything is working properly, it's really good. It makes handling taxes much simpler as long as you stay on top of entering and matching your transactions.

Cons

The biggest frustration is how often it disconnects from one account, several accounts or sometimes all of them. Reconnecting usually isn't possible and customer support doesn't actually help as they mostly waste time. The explanation is always that it's the fault of another company that works with the banks but there's no direct way to contact that company and all they seems able to do is submit requests that get ignored. The system is incredibly poor because of this. I have dealt with accounts being disconnected for over a month at times and even shorter outages of a week or two happen regularly. That makes weekly accounting unrealistic, let alone daily bookkeeping. There's also no notice when the connection starts working again. The only backup is manually importing feeds which takes far too long, involves a lot of steps and doesn't even work on iPads.

fantastic cloud accounting companion

Pros

Running my company's finances is far less stressful with Xero. The interface is very user friendly which takes a lot of the intimidation out of accounting and it made tracking expenses, creating invoices and managing payroll much more approachable than I expected. Since it's cloud-based I can update records or send invoices from virtually anywhere at any time and that has been incredibly helpful as someone who is often on the move. Another big plus is how well it integrates with other business apps which has really helped organize my day to day workflow.

Cons

Overall my experience with them has been very positive though the reporting tools could be improved. The reports themselves are quite comprehensive but the customization options feel a little limited. On top of that more advanced financial reporting can be somewhat complicated to work through and may take new users a bit of time to learn. If they expanded the customization features and made complex report generation simpler, it would be even better.

user friendly accounting setup

Pros

Even without being very tech-savvy, I can use it comfortably because the platform is very user friendly and simple to navigate.

Cons

There are definitely cheaper alternatives available so it would be better if they offered some kind of price-matching option.

Useful reports and insights

Pros

One thing that really caught my attention is the wide range of reports the program offers, along with the decent results and analysis it provides.

Cons

It does take a while to figure out how everything works at first.

helpful bank feeds for startups

Pros

Connecting it to my bank accounts and credit cards let the system automatically pull transactions and build some financial reports. That was especially useful in the early stages of our startup.

Cons

At times the imported data showed up incorrectly in our financials once we reviewed it more closely. Because of that, we had to spend extra time making adjustments to the reports.

fantastic invoicing and automation

Pros

Creating, personalizing and sending invoices online is incredibly convenient. The automation of repetitive accounting work also saves a lot of time.

Cons

Since 2019, the vendor has clearly put in a lot of effort to fix and eliminate any bugs that come up.

Complex and overhyped

Pros

there isn't much to highlight. The only area where it performs fairly well is handling accounts payable and receivable.

Cons

I would say it was presented as the software to rely on but in practice it's really no better than most other options out there. Using it is way too difficult.

payroll and budgeting done right

Pros

Running payroll for employees with Xero is very easy. Also it handles complex accounting and bookkeeping tasks really well. On top of that it helps me keep a close eye on expenses and paying for as well as tracking budgets is simple and convenient.

Cons

It makes accounting work so much simpler that I honestly don't have any complaints about it.

fantastic for invoicing and integrations

Pros

Xero has been an excellent tool for accounting, billing and invoicing. It's easy to use and the wide range of integrations makes it even more useful.

Cons

There isn't any local support available although the general support team is usually quite good aside from very specific local requests.

fantastic invoicing and reporting

Pros

I have used Xero in two different companies and it's always made invoicing easy. Its reporting features are also some of the best. After trying other accounting platforms, I really wouldn't want to go back. As it just works for me.

Cons

At times the only part that feels a bit lacking is the layout since I think it could be refined to be a little more user friendly. It's still an excellent tool overall but visually it doesn't quite have the polish or appearance that some other products offer.

fantastic for daily bookkeeping

Pros

Once everything is set up, it really changes how you work. The interface is organized and easy to use which makes it excellent for day to day business tasks as well as checking reports. Bank reconciliation and reminders are especially valuable features.

Cons

The chart of accounts felt a little confusing at first but it makes sense now.

It's really easy to use and being able to keep multiple tabs open at the same time makes working in it much more convenient.

Pros

Billing and invoicing are very easy. Transaction management is well organized and generating final reports is simple too. In short everything seems effortless.

Cons
