billing and invoicing automation

Pros

Handling repetitive, time-consuming tasks has been much better with Xero. It lets me automate more complex processes like billing, invoicing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Cons

Before I updated to the current iOS 2023 version, I ran into a few bugs in the mobile app.

flexible cloud accounting

Pros

Having this cloud-based accounting software as an alternative to QuickBooks has been really helpful and it comes with plenty of integration options that make it even more useful.

Cons

I haven't run into any major issues with it.

helpful accountant access

Pros

Being able to add other people, like accountants, to the admin team is really useful because they can help manage things and make running the business a lot more manageable.

Cons

I haven't spent enough time learning the product to point out any specific negatives but the little I did use felt a bit confusing at first. That said I also hadn't watched any of the help videos yet.

Payroll management made simple

Pros

Payroll management has been the biggest benefit for me because it makes calculating employee hours, paying staff and handling tax withholdings much simpler. The system is also user friendly and comes with a clear, well-designed interface.

Cons

My biggest frustration is the data transfer process since moving data requires using an external storage device. That happens because the software only works on one computer.

automatic reconciliations are fantastic

Pros

After using a different accounting program before, switching to Xero was a really pleasant surprise because it works so much better by comparison. The daily automatic reconciliations save a lot of time and make managing everything much simpler.

Cons

One thing I'd still like to see improved is the bank feed setup. Right now, connecting it feels a bit convoluted especially since we bank with NAB.

strong reporting and custom reports

Pros

The financial reporting works really well and the custom report options are also very useful.

Cons

After-sales support is lacking which has been a repeated issue. There's also no automation for statements, no batch tracking and it isn't very user friendly for sales and administrative staff.

flexible accounting for growing teams

Pros

Xero is easy to use, even for people without a finance background. It works well for everyone from sole traders to medium-sized businesses and it connects with a wide range of other software and apps.

Cons

The tracking codes are fairly limited so it may not be the best fit for businesses that need more complex data capture and reporting although integrations with other apps can help cover that gap. Support also depends on IT partners and the community which can sometimes slow down responses to questions.

invoicing without the hassle

Pros

After handling everything manually for ages making my own invoices and tracking earnings in Excel switching to Xero has been such a relief. I absolutely love using it because it has completely taken the hassle out of the whole process.

Smart automation for growing teams

Pros

Built around AI, this software is really geared toward business management and handles a wide range of tasks well. Once permissions are set, it gives you access to flexible automated responses which makes delivering services much more efficient.

Cons

It feels better suited to a larger business environment. Since I run a very small operation on my own, the platform seems more appropriate for a bigger company with broader needs.

all in one bookkeeping powerhouse

Pros

Having quotes, invoicing and bookkeeping all in one place has been a huge plus. There are plenty of features built in so I am able to handle the bookkeeping myself without needing to hire a bookkeeper which saves me money as well.

Cons

The part I'd still like to see improved is the integration with WordPress for my website subscriptions. It would also help a lot if the software could automatically create invoices and send them to customers right after a purchase.

Overall great performance

fantastic invoicing and reporting

Pros

It was simple to pick up and understand. Creating invoices is quick, expense tracking is also easy and setting up recurring invoices saves a lot of time since there's no need to recreate them manually every time. The reporting side is also one of its best parts as there are plenty of built-in reports that are visual, clear and helpful for comparing different periods and the customizable reporting tools are strong enough to pull more detailed and complex data when needed.

Cons

After using it for the past 5 years, I have never once felt the need to switch back to another product. It gets updated regularly and has continued to meet all of our needs, even as we grew from a small business into a medium-sized company.

perfect for small businesses

Pros

It covers everything our business needs such as accounts payable, invoicing, bank accounts and more. It's an excellent fit for small businesses.

Cons

The only downside for us is the price. Since we're in another country, the cost becomes quite high once it's converted into our local currency.

Pros
