affordable pricing, weaker reporting

Pros

Xero is priced really well and is probably one of the most affordable options in the industry.

Cons

Its reporting features aren't as strong especially when compared with QuickBooks.

everything you need for finances

Pros

If you want to keep your finances organized, this is the software to use. It's definitely worth trying if you're still undecided but I really don't think you'll regret giving it a go.

Cons

there's nothing here for me to complain about. Everything is right where you need it, it's very simple to navigate and there were helpful advice resources and training videos available for us.

Quick and easy to setup

Pros

Xero is easy to use and quick to roll out and it responds well to what I need on a day to day basis.

Cons

There are a few minor speed issues and it can feel a bit slow at times because of the network.

smart fit for small businesses

Pros

Using this for a small business has been a really positive experience. The product is smart and user friendly and it makes handling accounting easy and pleasant overall.

Cons

Its biggest limitation is the scope. It really only suits small businesses since it doesn't include consolidation features and only works for one business at a time.

accessible and user friendly

Pros

Using it is very easy and the biggest advantage is that I can access it from pretty much any platform.

Cons

At times it can lag and run a bit slowly and it only works when there's an internet connection.

accounting that just clicks

Pros

Compared with other accounting platforms I have used, Xero has been by far the simplest to work with. Data flows in from other programs effortlessly so there's barely any manual editing needed. The audit trail is also really helpful when checking for issues and figuring out how to correct them.

Cons

Up to this point I honestly haven't run into any real problems since everything was already integrated when I joined my new workplace. If I had to suggest one improvement, it would be more simplified training for clients because we often end up showing them how to use it or correcting their mistakes.

handy gst filing features

Pros

The reconciliation workflow is easy to use and being able to submit GST directly to IRD is really convenient.

Cons

On the downside, adding or removing accounts for reconciliation and accounting is a real hassle. Reversals and voids were also confusing and the learning curve felt very steep coming from a non-accounting background. The way the system works almost pushes you into hiring a bookkeeper or accountant which became an unnecessary hassle and cost when my business was dormant or winding down.

beginner-friendly with helpful support

Pros

Xero is very beginner-friendly which makes it a great option for people who are new to running a business. There are also plenty of help resources and FAQ options available so resolving issues usually is easy.

Cons

The invoice and bill editing process could be a bit more user friendly and I'd also like more flexibility when it comes to customizing the appearance of invoices. It would be even better if some features were more tailored to WET and wine products.

reports became hard to use

Pros

At this point unfortunately there is nothing I can really recommend.

Cons

It used to work much better before all the new reports and updates were introduced. Now it feels very unfriendly to use and the reports are no longer compact enough to fit well on a computer screen.

quick setup with smart features

Pros

It is really easy to use and it comes with some clever features that make repeated tasks much faster to handle.

Cons

Since we came on board just over a year ago, the interface has changed quite a bit. I am sure most of the updates are meant to improve things but the constant changes have made it take longer to fully get comfortable with where everything is.

The functionality is excellent and the dashboard is really well laid out making it simple to organize everything, find what you need quickly and stay on top of the ledger no matter the size of the business.

powerful features and excellent value

Pros

I have had a really positive experience with Xero which is exactly why I keep using it. The platform comes with impressive features that make day to day use much simpler and I would definitely recommend it.

Cons

New users to accounting could find it a bit confusing at first, mainly because there is a learning curve. Even so, once you spend a little time with it, it becomes very manageable to use.

inventory tracking made effortless

Pros

The biggest benefit for me has been how much this platform simplifies and organizes inventory control in my business. Before I started using it, keeping up with products, knowing exactly what was in stock and figuring out when it was time to reorder was a constant struggle.

Cons

A downside is that it can feel a little difficult to navigate at the beginning. Since the platform comes with so many functions and features, it is powerful but that same depth can also feel overwhelming for someone who is just getting started.

I like the simple dashboard

Pros

It saves a lot of time by automating routine tasks and the dashboard is very user friendly, giving a clear snapshot of the business data right when you log in. The integrations with other cloud-based software also add a lot of value to the platform.

Cons

A few features still need major updates and some of the automation tools can be glitchy at times. Customer support could also use some improvement.

Pros

One thing we really like is how well it integrates with other apps to give better visibility into the business. It also comes with a wide range of reports that cover pretty much every detail you could need. Keeping track of the company's finances is also easy especially when getting everything ready for tax filing.

Cons

I do wish the connected bank accounts stayed linked more reliably and it would be even better if there were more free integrated apps available to use with it.

user friendly for every client

Pros

One thing I really appreciate about Xero is how user friendly it is. Even with very little training, all of my clients are able to get the hang of it quickly.

Cons

There are still a couple of small annoyances, such as Credit Notes not showing up on the reconcile page although I understand that's currently being worked on.
