bank feeds and document uploads shine

Pros

Using the bank feeds is very easy and creating and sending sales invoices is just as simple. Being able to attach documents and supporting evidence to nearly every transaction, whether it's sales, purchases or journals, is incredibly useful. It saves a lot of time later since there's no need to dig around for paperwork at EOFY when the accountants need everything.

Cons

The reporting can feel a little limited in terms of what you're able to include or leave out so getting the exact report with the information you need can take some work. Setting up a bank feed can also be a bit fiddly at times. Payroll could definitely use more features and be simplified and with so many different tabs and sections to enter information, it takes care to make sure nothing gets overlooked.

Pros

Because so many accountants already work with it, Xero fits right into our workflow and gives us all the business metrics we need with just a quick report.

Cons

I honestly cannot point to any real downside. It does exactly what we need and the pricing feels very reasonable for what it offers.

feature-packed accounting win

Pros

This accounting software covers all the basics really well, makes daily tasks easy to manage and includes detailed reporting. We can also add many integrations if we want to expand its features.

Cons

I am generally not a big fan of subscription-based software but in this case it feels worth paying for.

user friendly with helpful community

Pros

Getting started with Xero is something almost anyone can do. The platform is very user friendly and simple to navigate. The Xero Community has been incredibly helpful too as whenever I need guidance on something, I can usually search there and find the answer pretty quickly.

Cons

The search feature feels quite limited and there's no option to attach documents to employee files.

complete accounting toolkit

Pros

A full-featured accounting software suite that handles invoicing, inventory management and tracking invoice payments all in one place.

Cons

It's very comprehensive so there isn't much to criticize overall. That said getting started with it isn't immediately easy.

strong multicurrency support

Pros

Handling over 160 currencies is a big advantage with Xero especially for businesses dealing with international transactions. That multicurrency support makes it a really useful option for companies operating across different countries.

Cons

The pricing can be a bit steep for smaller businesses so it may not be the most affordable choice. On top of that some features and integrations can come with additional costs.

Simplifies accounting with strong reports

Pros

It doesn't take long to get comfortable with this software and using it is very easy. The reporting system is also really strong and works very well.

Cons

The employee setup import is limited to basic details right now. It would be much better if more information, like leave balances and super details, could also be imported in bulk.

Saves time!

Pros

After using Xero for a long time to handle my accounting, I can say I am very happy with it overall. The biggest plus for me is how easy it is to use. The interface is also user friendly and the whole platform is built in a decent manner, even if you are not an accounting expert. It makes staying on top of my finances much simpler, saves me a lot of time and helps keep everything organized. On top of that it offers a strong range of features and integrations that make it easier to keep my business finances accurate and up to date.

Cons

My only real complaint is the pricing. Compared with other accounting software on the market, it seems quite expensive. I understand that it comes with plenty of features but I still think the cost could be more budget-friendly especially for small businesses like mine.

bank feeds and mobile invoicing

Pros

Across several companies I have worked with, Xero has made the everyday billing and invoicing process very simple. It connects really well with banks and other apps which is a huge plus. Reconciling invoices, payments and receipts is much quicker now and it has saved me from staying late at my computer just to type up quotes. I can handle quotations, invoicing and reconciliation right from my phone in no time. When a payment comes in, it alerts me and automatically matches it to the correct bills so all that's left is to click Ok and the task is done and closed.

Cons

It still needs more functionality. There should be a way to browse and add products and when opening invoice-related bills, you should be able to view the full document instead of only a shortened version. A few important features are still missing.

Good fit for small business

Pros

It is pretty easy to use and using it day to day doesn't take much effort. The pricing is also reasonable and it covers the needs of most small businesses quite well.

Cons

The lower-tier plan has invoice limits which can be restrictive and there really isn't enough training available.

practical reporting and real-time updates

Pros

Xero is practical and easy to use because it includes everything we actually need without adding unnecessary extras. Getting started didn't require a complicated learning process which made implementation much easier. The customizable reports are especially useful. They let me organize accounting information in a way that is clear, manageable and efficient. And since it is web-based, there's no desktop software to maintain, no manual syncing to worry about and remote work is much easier. Everything updates in real time across locations and user accounts which is a big advantage.

Cons

At the same time, a number of features still seem to be missing from the application and the lack of mobile compatibility is a noticeable limitation. To really make full use of everything in the suite, you have to be on a desktop computer. The interface could also benefit from some updates to make it look cleaner and feel a bit more organized and clear.

reliable accounting and payroll

Pros

It is user friendly, account reconciliation works really well and payroll is very simple to handle.

Cons

It would be even better if it included progress payment features and more capable timesheet options. We've been able to work around those gaps by using other tools for progress payments and timesheets but payroll would also benefit from automatic payments similar to the auto-payment feature they offer for superannuation.

Pros

The ability to automate similar transactions during reconciliation saves a lot of time and makes the whole process much more efficient.

Cons

all in one accounting powerhouse

Pros

Running a small business is much simpler with Xero because it brings so many accounting tasks into one online platform. It covers invoicing, purchasing, inventory, payroll and more so keeping up with finances is much more manageable. The interface is clear and user friendly and the customization options make it flexible enough to fit the specific way each business operates.

Cons

It is definitely a capable and effective accounting system but it will not be the right match for every business. Some teams may find the learning curve steeper than expected at the beginning and newer businesses in particular might eventually feel limited if the platform does not scale enough to keep up with their growth.

time-saving all in one accounting

Pros

Running a small business takes enough time already and Xero has honestly been a huge help over the past few months. Even without an accounting background, I find it very easy to use. I can track expenses, send invoices and handle payroll all in one place which makes everything much more manageable. Overall it saved me a lot of time and money compared to how I used to do things. Before this tool I spent hours every month reconciling accounts and chasing receipts. Now I finish those tasks much faster and even tax preparation seems less stressful. For any small business owner I'd absolutely recommend it as a very valuable accounting solution.

Great fit for our business

Pros

It's been really user friendly to work with and it has enough flexibility to adapt well to the way our business operates.

Cons

The payroll side took a bit more effort to understand and we needed guidance from someone who had used the software before since it wasn't as user friendly as the rest of the platform. That said once everything was set up, it integrated well.

Pros

Xero is user friendly and it doesn't require advanced technical skills to work with it effectively. Because it's cloud-based, I can access the platform from anywhere at any time which makes it very convenient.
