excellent value with useful integrations

Pros

Compared with other accounting tools I have used, the pricing seems very reasonable for the number of features included. The interface is user friendly, navigation is simple and that makes using the software a really pleasant experience. On top of that the team has made integration with third-party tools like CRM and eCommerce platforms very convenient.

Cons

One downside is that the starter plan leaves out a few key features, such as a time tracker which matters a lot to me. It also doesn't offer automatic payment for recurring invoices.

flexible integrations and simple workflow

Pros

It works well with other software and the system is very easy to use.

Cons

The only downside was that I couldn't buy directly through our other system so I had to enter the orders again in it before sending them to suppliers.

user friendly accounting with helpful training

Pros

Xero is really easy to use, even without an accounting background. It makes it simple to create and manage invoices, financial reports and statements, payroll, holiday tracking, journal entries and reconciliations. The training is also very strong, with plenty of useful learning materials available and the UX/UI is well designed.

Cons

One downside was the lack of integration with CharlieHR. That was disappointing because we were handling holidays in it while using CharlieHR as our HR platform and having those two systems connected would have been really beneficial.

forward-thinking accounting updates

Pros

Everything is easy to use and the team is clearly always looking ahead and improving the product with better feature updates.

Cons

The mobile phone app still isn't all that good.

fantastic invoicing and bookkeeping

Pros

Xero makes accounting and bookkeeping much easier. Paying bills, tracking them and managing everything in one place is very simple. Creating and sending invoices is also quick and easy. Preparing profit and loss reports is just as simple.

Cons

I haven't run into any difficultie, as it has been able to meet all of my needs.

ideal fit for small business

Pros

Running our small business with this has been easy. Overall the system seems like a really good fit for what we need.

Cons

Now that we've grown, added a sister company and started carrying stock, the inventory tracking in the software hasn't kept up very well.

helpful dashboard and reporting

Pros

Keeping records and staying on top of bill and invoice due dates is really easy with this. The dashboard is well done, the reporting tools are excellent and the whole system feels very beginner-friendly. It's simple to use and the built-in how-to guides are there whenever questions come up which makes it even more helpful.

Cons

Up to this point I haven't run into any problems with it.

love xero for accounting

Pros

After switching from spreadsheets to Xero eight years ago, managing my accounts became much easier and I have never wanted to go back. It's very user friendly and has worked really well for me ever since.

Cons

Customizing the invoicing templates can be a bit difficult and not as easy as it should be.

modern accounting for SMEs

Pros

Switching to Xero has been a huge upgrade. It's very user friendly and includes all the functionality an SME needs. Moving away from spreadsheets and outdated accounting software honestly feels like stepping out of the dark ages and into the future.

Cons

One limitation is the lack of customizable time ranges for trend analysis. Right now, the UI only lets you view graphs and charts using preset timeframes.

secure access from anywhere

Pros

Xero works well no matter where I am which makes it great for daily use. Collaborating with colleagues is no longer a problem and the platform seems safe, secure and easy to navigate.

Cons

The purchasing and inventory tools are fairly basic. It also requires manual follow-up when invoices go unpaid.

Simple menus for teams

Pros

This application needed almost no training. The menu layout makes everything easy to access so you don't have to dig through different sections to find what you need. On the main screens actions like generating invoices or adding customers are clearly visible and quick to reach. Even my team, who don't have much accounting experience can use it comfortably.

Cons

It comes with plenty of out-of-the-box features but when we want to customize it further, things get limiting. Adding extra automations or building in quick custom features is often very difficult and in many cases it just isn't possible.

mobile app and bank sync are fantastic

Pros

The mobile app and bank integration have been really useful. I can quickly look up the information I need on my own so I am not constantly bothering my bookkeeper with basic questions.

Cons

I honestly don't have any real complaints. If it were a little more affordable, I'd probably roll it out across all of my companies but at the pricing offered through my accountant, I currently only use it for two of them.

clean setup for daily accounts

Pros

Everything feels clean, simple and user friendly in this accounting software. It's been extremely helpful for a small business like mine with day to day transactions especially because it cuts down on so much manual data entry.

Cons

One downside is that it doesn't have a call center and that can be pretty frustrating at times.

billing and invoicing works perfectly

Pros

Good tool for non-accountants

Pros

Xero is very easy to use and it's clearly designed for non accountants. The interface is user friendly and simple to navigate. They have also done a great job removing much of the accounting jargon that usually makes this kind of software harder to use.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is how some budget variance reports are organized since they can be a bit difficult to locate when needed.

useful feeds and improving app

Pros

When everything is working properly, the bank feeds are really useful. The mobile app also handles around 80% of what we need to do while we're away from the office and it does seem to be gradually getting better over time.

Cons

The pricing keeps increasing though and from our perspective they keep adding unnecessary options and making design changes that don't add much value. At the same time, reliability feels like it's getting worse which makes it seem like the company is investing in the wrong areas and making poor product decisions.
