I like how it turns raw data into something you can actually see and understand. A lot of the time, huge amounts of information sit buried in spreadsheets and in the usual rows-and-columns layout, it is difficult to interpret or compare properly. Power BI makes a big difference by helping people visualize their data and clearly grasp the impact behind it.

One downside is the learning curve. It is one of those platforms with a lot packed into it so getting comfortable with everything can take time.

Something that I really liked about it was how tightly it connects with the different Microsoft tools. The integrations across the Microsoft ecosystem felt smooth and made the overall workflow much more convenient.

Cons

The features on the dashboard don't offer much room for customization. Getting things to look or function the way I wanted often required workarounds or little "hacks." On top of that the tools and features for creating mobile reports and dashboards felt limited.

It has allowed me to build a lot of dashboards for tracking indicators in my career and work projects. It's also been very useful for analyzing how production lines are performing.

Cons

Works best with newer software and getting the most out of it does take some training.

The downside is that it can be pretty complicated to use and it's hard to learn if someone doesn't already have much experience with data or programming.

The graphical interface feels very user friendly and it lets you connect with different data sources whether they are on-premise or in the cloud. Setting it up to create a collaboration group is also not complicated.

One thing I'd change is the navigation since it can take a bit more effort than I'd like to get to certain sections I need.

At first, it wasn't very easy to use. That said, Microsoft offers free training courses and after learning through those, it no longer feels like a drawback to me.

Team dashboard updates work really well especially for sharing and collaborating with others. Having ready made templates is also a big plus and the presentations you can create look polished and truly professional.

The interface feels a bit awkward at first although after a few days of using it, that stops being an issue.

Its flexibility is one of the biggest strengths for me. It can work with just about any type of data and the customization options let me shape reports and dashboards the way I need. On top of that it connects flawlessly with other Microsoft tools which makes the whole workflow feel very connected.

Cons

Only real limitation I've noticed is that I'd like to see broader compatibility with software outside the Microsoft ecosystem.

After relying on Excel for a while, we moved over to this because it offers more advanced capabilities and that switch has been really useful for us. The data cleaning is noticeably better, there are far more customization options available and a few integrations are much simpler to handle than they ever were in Excel.

Cons

Interface honestly isn't the strongest part especially when you compare it with tools like Tableau. Still, it does what we need it to do.

A really great visualization tool. Across many companies I've worked with, having a clear way to align the organization around key KPIs is incredibly important and this platform offers a very appealing way to do that.

Cons

Since dashboards can be customized quite freely some organizations may end up tracking too many KPIs at once. My takeaway is the usual one: less is often more. It's better to stay focused on the 3 to 5 KPIs that truly move the business forward.

Biggest strengths for me are the data transformation and data modeling capabilities. It also does a really good job with iterative visuals, AI-powered insights and row-level security which makes analyzing and sharing data much more effective.

Cons

The cost and the performance can become an issue when working with large datasets.
