Creating the data model can be challenging since it takes a solid understanding of the database structure to build the right KPI correctly.

Setting up configurations, handling connections and managing tables can be quite complex and, in some cases, takes strong IT knowledge to get the data into a usable state.

A few options aren't very user friendly and take some time to figure out. Compared with competitors like Tableau some features feel a bit difficult to work with.

Using it feels approachable because the interface is simple and easy to understand. At the same time, it's a very powerful tool that can analyze large amounts of data in a short period of time.

One drawback is that if you want to share a notebook you've created, it has to be published on Power BI's online platform first.

The platform comes with excellent templates and since it's such a widely adopted product, getting support is usually very simple. Installation is also uncomplicated, pretty much in line with other Microsoft products.

It goes through frequent updates and while those are necessary some of them end up affecting how certain customizations work.

There's definitely a steep learning curve so it won't be a good fit for every user. It can also be tricky to style visuals when the current data ranges aren't available.

Has a broad range of data connectors available and getting started doesn't take much effort. At the same time, it has plenty of depth and scalability as your needs grow.

Can be pretty heavy on hardware especially the CPU and RAM which can make working in the application feel slow and time consuming.

I've been using it to organize data, clean it up, make predictions and handle similar tasks. I recently took a course on it and honestly, it has made my day to day work much easier.

Learning it is still quite challenging and I know there's a lot more left for me to explore. I'd really like to see more courses available for beginners.

Does require proper training to use effectively and it mainly works within fixed formats and specific data points. If the data falls outside those, the results can end up being completely different.

Since it's part of the Microsoft ecosystem, connecting it with other Microsoft products is very easy. Getting it working with Dynamics took some learning at first but once that was figured out, the installation process was quite convenient.

Cons

Compared with some competing tools, it's more difficult to pick up at the beginning. It takes a while to understand how everything fits together especially when coming from a different system.

Handles data cleaning and data modeling really well. The interface is also very appealing and the features make it quick to understand your data and support important decision making. It feels very user friendly overall.

Its a little expensive but considering what it offers, I think it is worth the cost.

Getting the basic mechanics down is very simple. Its more user friendly than Access and demands far less programming knowledge. The option to add more visual elements is outstanding.

I still think data loading during refresh is a bit slow when working with databases especially in Excel.

It works well on both web and mobile for data visualization and the overall output is quite comprehensive. We've also recently begun using its data discovery, predictive analytics and embedded analytics features which have been very effective for handling complex data inputs clearly.

Cons

Haven't had any major issues with the software and it continues to improve with new features over time. If there's one thing I'd suggest, it would be a slight reduction in the sign-up and annual renewal costs. Pricing is on the higher side which can make long-term use difficult for small or marginal organizations because of the ongoing expense.

Working with this program has been a very positive experience. There's nothing about this program that I dislike. Ever since I started using it, I've been genuinely pleased with it.

Feels very approachable especially for new users. I also really enjoy being able to pull together multiple data sources, combine them and turn everything into polished, attractive visuals for reporting.

I genuinely enjoy using the software overall. If I had to point out anything, I just wish it were built into the audit software I already use though that's a pretty minor complaint.
