templates are great

Pros

Really shines when it comes to usability. Compared with other design and layout tools, putting together marketing materials, infographics, presentations and similar content feels much more effortless because there are plenty of templates ready to use. Also, it includes built-in stock photos, vector elements and shapes that you can just drag and drop into your project so there is no need to keep jumping to another website to look for images. It is also very practical for prototyping since you can move through different design ideas quickly thanks to how convenient the whole creation process is. Sharing designs online and collaborating with other people is another helpful feature especially for team projects or when you want feedback from others. Since everything is saved in the cloud, there is less stress about losing your work and it is simple to leave a project and come back to it later. It is free to use as well, while the paid plan adds several useful improvements like resizing designs, removing watermarks from many stock assets organizing designs better and most importantly for me, exporting with a transparent background. Overall, it makes it possible to create polished, professional-looking designs in a matter of seconds even without any artistic background.

Cons

That said, the speed and convenience do come with a few compromises. It does not offer the same level of flexibility and deeper functionality that more advanced graphic design programs provide and people who regularly use professional design software will notice that right away. Tools such as warping, filters and space selection are missing although some might see that simplicity as part of the appeal. Collaboration is useful but it is not truly real-time so you still have to refresh the page to see another person's changes appear in the design. The free version also does not always let you download your work in the highest quality which can become noticeable when showing it on a high-definition screen. As my projects became more demanding, the watermarks on stock photos started to feel increasingly limiting which eventually pushed me toward the paid version.

canva saves me hours

Pros

This tool has been a huge win for me in almost every way. The first thing that stands out is how beginner-friendly it is. Even with my design background, I was able to show my sister how to use it in about five minutes which says a lot about how adaptive the platform is. It really feels like the tool walks you through the design process instead of making you figure everything out on your own. Another feature I really appreciate is the way I can organize work by client. I keep a separate folder for each one and inside those folders I can break things down further by project type. For instance, one client might have separate designs for Instagram posts, in-store flyers and postcards, while another has files for video thumbnails, Instagram content and website feature images. That setup keeps everything tidy and makes it much easier to maintain each client's branding. The resize feature is another big plus. I can build one design and quickly adapt it for different platforms and dimensions with only minor tweaks which is incredibly helpful when I need several versions of the same content. Also, it offers a wide range of templates for all kinds of projects. They're flexible enough to match my branding and sometimes I even use them just as a creative starting point. The library of free and paid photos and icons is also excellent and helps add that extra visual touch when a design needs something more. Overall, it has saved me a massive amount of time over the last three years. Tasks that used to take me an hour in QuarkXPress now take around 15 minutes because everything is right there and so simple to work with.

Cons

My complaints with it are pretty minor but there are a few things I wish it handled better. The biggest one is file merging. Right now, I can move a design into a folder but I can't move a design from one file into another file, even when both files are the same size. That becomes frustrating in real work scenarios. For example, if I have an Instagram design file for Client A and want to turn just one of those designs into a video thumbnail, I can't simply move that finished piece into the existing video thumbnail file for that client. Instead, I either have to rebuild the design in the other file which creates unnecessary duplicate work or copy and resize the entire original file, delete all the extra pages and keep only the one I need. After that, I still can't merge it into the file where it really belongs so I end up with several random extra files floating around. It's a small complaint but being able to merge designs like that would save a lot of time. I also wish I could copy an element, text or style from one design and paste it directly into another design that's in a different file. That would make consistency across projects much easier. One more thing that would help is bulk deleting pages within a file. It lets me bulk download pages but not bulk delete them and that feels like a missing convenience that would also save time.

Easy to handle

Pros

Working as a graphic designer, I'm genuinely amazed by how much it has opened up for so many people. In my case, it has given me more ways to deliver better results, both for my clients and for the managers I work with. I also appreciate that it makes the path into graphic design accessible to anyone, to the point that I've even taught design classes using it as the foundation. The range of graphic resources available feels almost endless and is incredibly useful for professional work. Something else I value a lot is that my coworkers can build on the designs I create and move forward with materials their own departments need. It also lets me create personalized presentations that give my work a distinct style and that has definitely caught my clients' attention. Another feature I really enjoy is being able to take existing designs and quickly adapt them to different dimensions for social media within the same platform which is simply fantastic.

Cons

honestly I don't have any negative points to mention. As a graphic designer, I've tried to spot weak areas but I still haven't found any worth highlighting. If anything, the opposite is true, it's such an adaptive platform that I regularly recommend it for everyday use.

Branding made easy

Pros

This software has been a huge help for keeping my branding consistent across all of my images and marketing materials. I can put together graphics for any social media platform really quickly which saves me a lot of time. One thing I especially appreciate is being able to reuse older designs and just swap out photos or tweak a few elements instead of starting from scratch every time. It also helps me keep my colors and fonts uniform across everything I create. Another feature I really value is being able to upload my own images and have them stored in one place inside my folder. Also, there's a wide selection of free images, vectors and graphics available when I want a certain style or look. Having those built in is convenient because I don't always have to go searching elsewhere and upload extra files.

Cons

One thing I'd really like to see improved is the way uploaded images are organized inside it. I end up spending a lot of time digging through older uploads just to find the one I need. I know the paid version offers more organization options but I haven't signed up for that yet. I also wish there were a direct way to send the images I create straight to Google Drive. At the moment, I have to download the file first and then upload it again wherever I want to use it. It would be much better to have an option that cuts out all of that downloading and re-uploading because right now the process feels pretty tiring.

quick results

Pros

Canva won't suddenly make someone a graphic designer or give them strong design instincts but the ready-made templates and user-friendly layout make it possible for non-designers to create functional visuals and for experienced designers to put together ideas or prototypes quickly. The editor is laid out in a way that makes sense, with the left-hand toolbar moving naturally from picking a template to adding elements, editing text and backgrounds and uploading your own assets. The option to bring in your own graphics is especially useful because it adds a lot of flexibility and personalization. When it's used alongside a graphic designer, it can speed up production without sacrificing quality. Collaboration is another big plus since it lets you invite team members to work together directly on the platform. It also includes a large variety of templates for standard formats like Instagram posts, YouTube thumbnails and Facebook banners or profile images so there's no need to guess dimensions or aspect ratios. That makes prototyping very fast. Also, the export choices are solid, whether you want to publish directly to social media or download files for additional editing elsewhere.

Cons

A noticeable downside is that a lot of the templates, photos and other assets sit behind a paywall, either as individual purchases or through a Canva subscription. Many of the built-in elements also feel fairly static and don't offer enough detailed control. Charts are a good example since they are limited to a single color and don't provide much flexibility for adjusting axes or overall styling. The same issue shows up with shapes and arrows, where more precise control over things like thickness, proportions or tail length would make the platform much more powerful. Another limitation is that there's no offline desktop version and the mobile app feels much more restricted compared with the web version which is clearly the one you have to rely on for the full experience. Exporting is also somewhat limiting because files can't be saved in a way that preserves layers which makes detailed post-export editing harder than it should be.

design for everyone

Pros

It really lowered the barrier to design to the point where it almost feels threatening in the funniest way. It's been a huge help for our team. A lot of people wanted their documents and presentations to look more polished but they had no idea where to begin. They were never going to fully learn Adobe Creative Suite and even the ones who had spent time with it didn't always have the design instinct to make things look right. this tool changed that. It lets people with zero background create professional-looking documents, slide decks and graphics without needing prior experience. Between the ready-made templates, suggested color palettes and built-in assets like photos and icons, it gives you pretty much everything you need right away. From there, it's mostly just drag and drop.

Cons

Back when we first adopted it, it was a lot less developed than it is today. Since then, they've rolled out a ton of useful features that have made the design process much more adaptive. That said, anyone coming from Adobe Creative Suite may have a hard time adjusting or switching back and forth, mainly because it doesn't use the same keyboard shortcuts people are used to. Another frustration especially on the free plan, is how much content sits behind the paywall. Even with a subscription, there are still quite a few assets that require an extra purchase so you do have to pay attention while building something. The other limitation worth noting is that it is not really a replacement for InDesign since it doesn't handle text-heavy document formatting particularly well. Still, it works very well as more of an Illustrator alternative for entry-level designers who want to improve their work and create better visuals on their own.

polished designs

Pros

Love it, it takes a lot of the intimidation out of design. Compared with some of the other "Photoshop-style" tools that put people off, this one is very simple and quick to learn. Whether someone is just getting started or already has design experience, it works well either way. One thing that helps a lot is the preset sizing for different platforms. If you manage social media campaigns or maintain multiple accounts, knowing the right dimensions matters and it already has templates set up for things like Facebook cover images, profile pictures and more. It's also incredibly flexible. I've used it for all kinds of work, from resumes to logos and the ready-made templates make it even more useful since you can just load one up and customize the details. Another feature I really appreciate is how it remembers brand colors and keeps them consistent in future projects which saves me from accidentally using the wrong shade. Everything I've made with it has ended up looking polished and professional. In a lot of cases, it can even reduce the need to spend heavily on a design team although going that route does take time and effort.

Cons

One limitation I've run into is with charts and graphs inside certain templates. If a design includes one, you usually can't enter your own data or adjust the values to change how it looks. My workaround has been to create the chart in a separate free tool and then import it into it as a PNG so it's not a huge issue, just a small inconvenience. I've also had problems with the Undo button at times. There have been quite a few moments where I clicked it and the platform started lagging.

lifesaver for last-minute design

Pros

It came through right when I needed it most on a last-minute work assignment to put together a flyer for a weekend team-building event. With my graphic design skills being pretty rusty, I knew there was no way I'd finish on time using traditional tools like Photoshop or Adobe InDesign. I needed something with ready-made templates that looked polished and could be edited fast. After a quick Google search, I landed on this tool and it honestly felt like a lifesaver. It's an incredibly efficient design platform for people who aren't naturally gifted at design or just need to create something quickly without sacrificing quality. The template selection covers all kinds of document types and the library of vectors, photos, fonts, borders and other design elements is thoughtfully put together. The interface is also very user-friendly which makes editing, saving and downloading simple. On the homepage, it asks, "what would you like to design?" You can either type in what you need and start with a blank document, building it out with the platform's tools or choose from templates created by other users and customize those. And if you have more time to explore, it's actually enjoyable to dig into the broad range of design features and experiment with stock images and other built-in assets from scratch.

Cons

The biggest downside is that some in-app purchases are priced pretty high which can be frustrating when you find an element you really want to use but the cost feels excessive. That said, there are still plenty of free options available that can help you achieve a similar look without spending extra. Also, a few parts of the design library especially things like frames, grid layouts and certain icons, feel a bit dated and could use a refresh or some newer additions to modernize the collection.

templates that save the day

Pros

Whenever I run out of creative energy, the templates completely bail me out. I can grab one, tweak a few things and suddenly I've got an amazing graphic ready in about 30 seconds. Getting my team started with it was also surprisingly fast, they were up and running within half an hour. Most of the time spent training was really about our business workflow, like setting up client folders for uploads, building brand guides and handling exports and resizes. One thing that's especially useful is how my team can send me a finished design and I can jump in to make edits or resize it for another platform. I've used it for print ads, Facebook ads, website graphics, Instagram and plenty more. One of my favorite tricks is layering an image and downloading it as a GIF which gives me a quick video for Instagram. I've never needed to contact customer service but the monthly newsletter updates are excellent.

Cons

Mobile app isn't quite as adaptive and I struggle with it more than the desktop version. That said, I usually prefer creating graphics online anyway because I can download a zip file and then move on to scheduling and planning. The newer layout after their update took a little time to get used to but now I actually really enjoy it.

Precise dimensions

Pros

It comes with dozens of preset sizes for both graphics and documents which makes it very practical. It works well as a design tool for non-designers and beginners who want to create attractive visuals and it is also useful for office-related tasks like writing an A4 document, resume, brochure or US letter file. It can even be very valuable for designers especially on the web, where every platform like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others requires different image dimensions. Keeping all those sizes in mind is difficult so having them displayed right in front of you before you start designing is a big advantage. You can quickly choose formats like YouTube channel art, YouTube thumbnails, Facebook posts, covers and many more, all with their exact dimensions. The left-side panel also includes several helpful functions and the most interesting one to me is the Elements section. It is arranged into columns and supported by a search bar which makes everything feel organized. Under each column, the objects are grouped into headings such as health, beauty and fashion, lines, shapes and many others. Since these objects are pictures or graphics that share something in common, it becomes easier to pick visuals that fit a certain niche, sub-niche or topic. Another feature I really enjoy is being able to switch or adapt an existing design from one platform to another. For example, when changing a Facebook post into a Pinterest pin, it helps you adjust the graphic even though the dimensions are different.

Cons

A strong internet connection is necessary because templates and layouts need to load quickly. Another downside is that the number of free images and free icons seems to have decreased over time so finding free elements has become more difficult than it used to be. There are also occasional service outages.

fantastic!!

Pros

This has been my go-to for creating social media graphics, cover images, PDF presentations, ebook covers and even full ebooks. I've used Adobe Spark, Photoshop and Illustrator for the same kind of work but Canva is much simpler to work with. With Photoshop and Illustrator, you need a fair amount of experience to navigate everything especially for social media designs. Canva, on the other hand gives me plenty of templates so I can just pick one and customize it to fit what I need. The mobile app deserves credit too. The Android version used to be a bit unstable earlier in the year which forced me to use the mobile site and that was incredibly frustrating. Since then, the app has improved a lot and now I use it every week for social media graphics and ebook covers. One of the biggest advantages especially compared with Spark, is the variety of templates for every design type. Whether it's an Instagram story, Facebook post, 800x800 social media graphic or 1000x1000 Instagram image, there are always lots of options to choose from. Even when I feel completely stuck creatively, I can browse through the templates and usually find something that matches the idea my client wants. I also appreciate that my final designs don't come out with a branded logo on them.

Cons

Logo creation is where it feels a lot more limited. You can technically make a logo with it but in reality it's not the best tool for that because most of the logo templates tend to look very similar. Another issue I keep running into is the undo and redo feature on the desktop site. On Android it works fine but on desktop it almost never behaves properly for me. If I delete something, whether by accident or on purpose, using undo to bring it back often doesn't work and sometimes it jumps back much farther than I expected. I've ended up staring at a blank space more times than I can count. Redo gives me similar problems. Reloading designs on desktop is also frustrating. I'm not just referring to the times I step away for a while and come back to a message saying my last changes weren't saved and I need to reload. That happens often enough that I've gotten into the habit of saving before leaving my desk. The bigger problem is when I'm actively working and suddenly get told that the last few seconds weren't saved and I need to reload the design. That happens to me at least once every couple of weeks, always on the desktop site and never on the Android app. The app has actually been very reliable for me. At one point my data even ran out while I was designing and I was still able to keep working without interruption and when Wi-Fi came back on there was no reload prompt at all.

amazing content

Pros

Packs a surprising amount into its free plan and my favorite part is how capable everything feels inside such a polished, attractive web app. It lets you create graphics already sized for all kinds of social platforms, including Pinterest, Facebook posts and banners, Twitter and Instagram. There's also a huge library of free templates to start from and personalize. Adjusting text size, colors and placement is very simple and once you get comfortable with how the different boxes and panels work for text, backgrounds and effects, you realize how much flexibility you have with things like color choices and transparency. I also really appreciate being able to duplicate a design quickly and make multiple variations from the same template.

Cons

One feature I really miss is Magic Resize in the free version. It used to let you take a design made in one format, like Pinterest and convert it into something completely different, such as a Facebook banner ad which was incredibly useful. Losing that entirely is disappointing, even though I understand they need premium features to drive revenue. It would be nice if they at least allowed a limited free use, like resizing one design into three formats so people could see how useful it is and be more tempted to subscribe. Another frustration is that if you want to reuse something from an older design, you can't get to those previous designs without upgrading your account. The platform can also feel a little slow at times and it helps to watch how many tabs you have open. Every new design tends to launch in a separate tab and if too many are open at once, it starts using up system resources pretty quickly.

I liked it

Pros

After teaching myself other design tools like Inkscape and to a lesser degree, Adobe InDesign, I've ended up relying on it for probably 90% of my design work. I'm using it for Work now and having our brand colors and fonts ready to go has been incredibly useful. It also helps that I can create designs in the correct dimensions for different uses without having to stop and search for the specs every time. I've shared access to my account with colleagues as well so they can produce polished, on-brand materials too. The more I use it, the more templates I'm able to build for the rest of my team to copy and customize. Also, having such a huge library of free and paid photos and clipart built right in is extremely convenient.

Cons

A few things still feel limited compared with software like Inkscape. Right now, there's no option to make curved text or place text along any kind of path. It also doesn't include an eraser tool which would definitely come in handy in certain situations. And although it can export print-quality PDFs, the PNG files don't always come out at the resolution I want so I'd really appreciate the option to export at a higher PPI.

love the results

Pros

This is something I rely on several times throughout the day, whether I'm designing inside the platform itself or pairing it with other tools like Photoshop. It's really useful for creating polished social graphics and other business materials without a lot of hassle. The platform includes plenty of built-in features like stock photos, shapes, frames, layouts, fonts and color options and uploading my own images and keeping them in order is pretty quick. I've worked with both the free and paid plans and honestly both are excellent options. The free version already offers more than enough for a small business, while the paid version adds helpful extras like brand kit uploads plus access to more images and icons. I've also spent time using the mobile app which is handy when I need to make something while away from my computer. It's not quite as user-friendly as the desktop version but it has been improving with updates. I also appreciate the different download choices and the newer ability to create simple animated visuals is a nice addition.

Cons

One thing I'd really like to see improved is how designs and images are organized and managed. It would help a lot if there were a better way to rename images and sort them within folders. I'm also not a fan of the storage limit on image folders. The mobile app is another weak spot for me. It's useful for quick edits when I'm on the go but it still feels dated enough that I often simplify what I'm trying to make or just switch to my computer because using it can get frustrating. To be fair, the updates have been making it better. I also wish there were a way to create multiple size variations of one design within a single template. Since I need different dimensions for different social platforms, I usually end up with three to five copies of basically the same design sitting in my library at different sizes.

i rely on this software

Pros

It has become my go-to design tool for a bunch of reasons. First, it's very user-friendly. There are tons of templates which helps a lot since my design skills are pretty limited. I can put together blog graphics, Facebook posts, book covers and more without needing a huge amount of training. Another big plus is that premium images are available right inside the platform which makes the whole process feel more efficient and convenient. The magic resize feature also saves me a lot of time and honestly it's one of the most useful tools in the program because I'm constantly having to adjust image sizes for different platforms. Also, the range of design features is excellent. Between photos, elements and other tools, everything I need is in one place and simple to manage. At this point, I really don't see a reason to switch to any other design software.

Cons

There's honestly not much I dislike about it but a few things could definitely be better. I wish there were more high-quality free images available because it feels like I end up paying for graphics pretty often. Another issue is that sometimes a downloaded design doesn't look quite the same as it did on the screen which is frustrating because then I have to go back and fix it. I'm not really sure why that happens. The biggest weakness though, is how projects are organized. Managing older designs is pretty frustrating and finding or sorting past projects can be harder than it should be. It would be much better if there were a more practical system instead of having everything piled onto one screen based on the last-used date.

Templates are a lifesaver

Pros

This design tool has been a lifesaver for anyone who thinks Photoshop is too complicated and for companies that don't want to bring in a dedicated graphic designer for every small task. I first came across it at my very first job, when the only designer on the team made it difficult to get designs delivered on time. Since I was handling social media, I had to make sure posts were ready to go out without delays. That pushed me to look for a simple design tool that could help me create attractive, post-worthy graphics on my own. It honestly went beyond what I expected especially because I had no idea a free tool could offer this much. To sum it up, the templates are fantastic. It already has preset sizes for nearly every social media platform out there, from Facebook and Twitter to Pinterest, Tumblr and more. Also, there are templates for invitations, cards, infographics and plenty of other formats, plus the option to enter custom dimensions. It completely removes the headache of figuring out sizes. The layouts within each template are also really helpful when you need ideas or inspiration. There's a huge collection of free shapes, fonts, frames, grids, icons, lines and colors, including custom color choices. It covers almost everything you'd want. The image editing options are also impressive. You can apply effects, adjust photo placement, flip images, crop them and group pictures with other elements. I also appreciate being able to download designs in multiple formats like PDF, PNG, JPG or even all of them.

Cons

An issue I've noticed lately is that it has started running quite slowly, even with a decent internet connection. It really performs well only when the WiFi signal is at its strongest. That said, this slowdown seems to be a more recent problem and the platform's overall usefulness still outweighs it by a lot. Another drawback is the free photo library which feels repetitive and not very interesting. I think the team could include better free images without giving away all the premium-quality ones that are reserved for paid users. Also, it limits you to 30 designs per template at a time. Once you hit that number, you have to start a new design thread just to keep using the same dimensions. It would be much better if they increased that cap because for someone who uses Canva heavily, it just creates too many separate threads for the same template which can also end up making the platform even slower.

positive experience

Pros

There are tons of ready-made templates available which makes it quick to get started. If I need a flyer layout, I can just choose the flyer category and browse through what feels like hundreds of options to find one that works. It's also helpful that the templates can be filtered by industry or focus, like real estate, food and more. Uploading my own graphics into the platform is very simple which makes customizing designs much faster. I use it often for one-off flyers and social media posts but I've also used it in a more professional setting to build out a brand. I was able to create color palettes, enter the exact brand colors with hex codes and upload custom fonts as well.

Cons

A big frustration comes up when trying to select multiple layered elements to move or edit together. The way the platform handles grouping feels a bit awkward. It's also hard to click on an object that sits on a lower layer without accidentally moving the items above it instead. Another issue I've run into is with printing PDF files. I've had designs print with the alignment completely off and there wasn't a simple way to correct it. The templates that show a price can also be misleading because they make it seem like the template itself costs money, when the actual charge is only for the stock image included in it. If that stock photo is swapped out, the template ends up being free.

wide template variety

Pros

Canva 2.0 still feels like the benchmark for online graphic design especially for beginners and users with intermediate skills. The wider left-side margins in the desktop app make search results for images and design elements appear larger which is a helpful improvement. After locating the "Find Templates" option, there's a really impressive range of templates and the categories seem broader and better organized than before. The APPS icon in the lower-left corner also opens up a solid collection of tools like animation, GIF creation, transparent backgrounds, image resizing and access to a bigger stock photo library although those features are part of the paid monthly plan.

Cons

One frustrating change is that the old template selection screen has been removed. Now users are expected to guess the exact template style by typing a phrase or description which feels like an unnecessary step backward just to make the interface look cleaner. The option to enter custom design dimensions, like 1280x7200 pixels, also seems to be missing. "Find Templates" is technically still there on the left side but it was tucked away enough that I didn't even notice it until I had used Canva 2.0 close to a dozen times. This version could eventually turn out better than Canva 1.0 but only if they add some kind of onboarding guide to show people where these commonly used tools were moved. It comes across as a little overconfident when designers assume their product is adaptive enough that no instructions are needed.

Awesome!!

Pros

Although I usually lean toward tools like InDesign and tend to trust professional graphic designers and artists, it is incredibly useful when something needs to be created quickly. It has become my go-to "design emergency" option because I can turn out all kinds of materials in a short amount of time and being able to save corporate colors in the brand palette is a huge help. I've used it for logos, GIFs, full-page magazine layouts and plenty more. And if you run a non-profit, it's absolutely worth submitting the paperwork to it because getting access for free can make a huge difference when you're working with a limited budget.

Cons

Something I'll say upfront is that people relying on services like Fiverr may want to avoid this for the wrong reasons. Since it is very user-friendly especially if you actually put effort into learning it, it can give an office "jack of all trades" the impression that a company no longer needs a real graphic artist. That's just not true. You still need a solid grasp of basic design principles because the software is not going to perform miracles on its own. Also, it's worth taking advantage of the customizable folders that are available. They make the workflow much more organized when you're creating content for different topics or specific clients. You can still locate your designs without doing that but saving them this way definitely makes everything more efficient. honestly that's barely even a complaint.
