“so affordable!”
Pros
It's affordable, comes with lots of plugins and has solid documentation sites. You can also install it on your own cloud or server which is a nice advantage.
Cons
Interface is not very user-friendly and it doesn't support threads like Slack does. Also, the app pricing doesn't feel reasonable.

“Great messaging with occasional drops”
Pros
Sending messages to groups or to individual contacts is very easy and it also helps a lot that we can reach other departments in the company through groups that were already set up.
Cons
Even within the network environment, the system still goes down at times and it seems to happen more often than with a comparable solution. That said, it may be related to the large number of users registered on the network.

“Secure self-hosted team communication”
Pros
Having it as a self-hosted solution is a big plus since it keeps our internal communication safe and highly secure. It covers all the essentials we need too, including audio and video calls, screen sharing, chat, file sharing, APIs and more.
Cons
At the time we used it, its video conferencing was still being developed so we ended up integrating Jitsi Meet for that part.

“Effortless to use”
Pros
Running it on our own infrastructure is a big advantage since it's self-hosted. It's also very easy to use.
Cons
I honestly haven't come across any downsides. It's been an excellent piece of software.

“Impressive team chat features”
Pros
It has been pretty good overall. It's simple to use, lets everyone chat at the same time and clearly shows which messages haven't been read yet, along with everything that was posted in the chat that day.
Cons
One thing I've noticed is that the direct message alert isn't very loud when a new message comes in. Aside from that, it's been fine.

“A good on-premise slack alternative”
Pros
Works well as a Slack alternative especially since it can be hosted on-premise without any licensing costs. The documentation is solid and a lot of the integrations people already use with Slack also work with this tool.
Cons
Push notifications have been unreliable and more recently limits were added to the push gateway. Our users are not happy with it, mainly because to them it still isn't Slack.

“solid collaboration with AD sync”
Pros
Getting it up and running was fairly easy. It doesn't cost anything to install, it's simple to work with and it handles document collaboration, video calls and basic chat really well. It also connects nicely with Microsoft AD which is a big plus.
Cons
The latest version still has a number of bugs. Overall, the platform feels stable but during testing I ran into around half a dozen issues, including problems with LDAP integration and user name listings, where some users are included but don't actually appear in the client. I'd also really like the admin console to show all activated users along with each person's presence status.

“Excellent cross-platform messaging”
Pros
Love how it keeps things simple while still being very functional.. and this is especially impressive for an open-source app. The Active Directory integration was fast and easy to set up and the mobile, desktop and web apps all perform really well.
Cons
Small issue I have with RC is how notifications behave when I'm signed in across multiple devices and apps. If I read a message in the desktop app, it doesn't show as read on my mobile apps. I've looked all through the admin settings and still haven't found an option to change that.

“I really liked it!!”
Pros
An on-premise deployment option is a big plus for us from a security standpoint. The chat tools are user friendly and easy to use.
Cons
Took us a little effort at first in getting the server configured but after following the documentation and getting some help from support, we were able to get everything running.

“GDPR-friendly chats”
Pros
Using it has been very easy, it can be free when self-hosted and it helps us stay compliant with EU-GDPR requirements. Also, it comes with a solid app and a community that keeps improving the chat experience and adding new features.
Cons
Overall design could look a bit more polished compared with Slack or similar tools. If you're switching from another system, it may not feel quite as visually refined as what you're used to although the difference is very small and not a major issue. I've also noticed a few occasions where it didn't seem to reliably mark messages as already read.

“A great software!”
Pros
Being open source is a big plus and getting it up and running is easy. It also comes with a marketplace that offers several applications which makes it useful in different situations.
Cons
I don't have any meaningful complaints because the tool fully meets what our company needs.

“Makes messaging quick”
Pros
Messaging people across the company is really convenient. I can search for someone by name, find exactly who I need and send them a message even when they're offline.
Cons
The downside is that I need to keep it open to actually receive messages. If I'm not in the app, I miss them. It does forward messages to my email but I don't always check that and I haven't come across a mobile app that lets me reply right away.

“targeted team messaging is good”
Pros
Our team can communicate quickly with this software and setting up rooms for specific team members makes a big difference. It helps keep messages going only to the right people which cuts down on confusion and avoids communication mix-ups.
Cons
Up to this point, we haven't run into any problems using the software. Everything has worked the way it's supposed to without any issues.

“fantastic team chat platform”
Pros
Rocket Chat has been part of our team's daily workflow for years and it's been a really reliable communication tool. The interface feels user friendly, the chat quality is excellent and it includes everything we need like private conversations, hidden chats and the option to edit or delete messages. We've been using it since 2018 and have been very happy with it as our main way to stay in touch. Really appreciate the work behind this product!
Cons
I wouldn't change a thing, it's a really solid communication tool for businesses.

Pros
easy to use from a user's perspective and the admin setup is also well organized and manageable.

“Good one”
Pros
Using it has been really good especially for setting up both public and private channels for group conversations. I also really appreciate the API feature since it lets you send messages programmatically.
Cons
At times, it feels quite slow and the app has crashed on me while opening. Another annoyance is the chat search, when you click on a message from the results, it doesn't take you straight to that exact place in the conversation.

“Stable real-time communication”
Pros
This app keeps things simple which is exactly what I appreciate about it. It's very easy to use, quick to implement and it delivers real-time communication really well.
Cons
It doesn't work with SharePoint and I've also run into some minor issues when previewing Amazon.

“It has strong controls”
Pros
Cloud-hosted setup has been a real plus and the interface feels polished and modern. It also offers very detailed access controls and user permissions which helps a lot with managing different roles. The auditing panel is useful, the REST API adds flexibility and having the choice to use it either in a web browser or through the desktop client is convenient.
Cons
A downside is the lack of native Office 365/Azure AD SSO which would have made login and user management much more smooth. It can also feel expensive especially when compared with Microsoft Teams back in 2020.

“solid slack alternative”
Pros
Starting out with it is pretty easy and it works well as an alternative to Slack. Creating channels and keeping conversations going is simple and convenient.
Cons
One frustrating part is the mobile app doesn't let you actually start a thread. You can do it on a computer but that can make channel discussions feel a bit disconnected at times.

“User-friendly setup”
Pros
Using it has been easy and I really appreciate how well it works with other apps. It's also very convenient to have three different solutions brought together in one platform.
Cons
Would be even better if video conferencing were built in without needing a third-party tool and the live chat reporting could definitely be more detailed.
