highly integrated solution

Pros

CMIC is highly integrated and was designed as such from the very beginning. I don't feel anything in CMIC is "bolted on." The quality of the software is high and the scope and breadth of the system are excellent.

Cons

I'm finding the output and reporting capabilities a bit lacking right now. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming dashboard and analytics module because I hope the new tools will finally help address this weakness in reporting and improve the usefulness of the outputs.

Lets me sign in remotely

Pros

Being cloud-based is a massive benefit for me. I'm constantly on the move between job sites and it's fantastic to be able to sign in from any location as long as I have an internet connection.

Cons

Sometimes the app throws an error or returns null when I try to complete actions and while I know glitches happen, it becomes really frustrating because I can't tell which field I missed or what exactly went wrong.

everything in one spot

Pros

I really like that everything is centralized in one spot and I can easily link related items together.

Cons

I've noticed the reminder feature could use a lot of work and needs improvement and updating compliance items isn't simple.

Could be simpler

Pros

Brings project management and superintendent aspects of the job together

Pros

What I value most about CMiC is that it brings the entire project management and superintendent aspects of the job together within a single, user-friendly software application.

Cons

There's noticeable redundancy across some features and I get frustrated by not being able to return (for instance, to code invoices) to earlier activities once they have been finalized.

Love the reconciliation tool

Pros

I really like the reconciliation tool. It lets me personally connect budgets to invoices generated outside the system, things like AIA submissions and owner-provided forms. The layout of the reports also appealed to me.

Cons

From my perspective the forecasting reports in recent releases lean heavily on the user's capacity to learn the system and that learning curve is a major reason I can miss problems in budget reporting, status and revenue.

falls short on efficiency and transparency

Pros

Well in theory the concept of it being a comprehensive solution that handles both contract management and accounting needs was good.

Cons

To be honest I've seen CMiC excel at selling itself while falling short on real efficiency and transparent product claims. Their CMiC Cloud platform clearly wasn't built with the architectural sector in mind and I've had to invest in extensive, expensive customizations and accommodate the software to make it usable.

Provides flexibility

Pros

Wanted cloud hosting and was adamant about avoiding a 25-seat minimum so the three-seat option fit our company's size and immediate needs perfectly. It gave us the flexibility we required without paying for unused seats. The people I spoke with at the company felt genuinely helpful and more responsive than many of the other vendors I was evaluating.

Cons

In my experience the startup and setup process felt lengthy and slow though I do recognize that it was thorough and detailed.

Well-trained staff

Pros

I've been very happy with their customer support. They never disappoint and always help me. The software fits our needs exceptionally well, it doesn't try to be everything for every use case like many other products which makes it simple to understand and use. It avoids unnecessary complexity and keeps workflows clear. Although we're still getting familiar with the system, my colleagues and I are pleased with how the training has been going so far and feel confident about the direction we're headed.

Cons

So far my experience has been really positive. We're still going through the training stage but everything has progressed very smoothly up to this point.
