Most Intuitive Software I've Ever Used

Pros

Foundation always seems to have a solution for anything new I need to do. They stay ahead of me. For example, when COVID sick pay was introduced last year, they already had a solution in place. The support team listens attentively and offers solutions to help achieve my goals. All the modules work similarly, so once you understand one, it's easy to learn the others.

Cons

In Accounts Receivable, it's not possible to repeat an invoice number for different customers. In Accounts Payable, the software doesn't display the amount remaining to be distributed between accounts, only the amount that has already been distributed.

Long time user and Love!

Pros

BEST ACCOUNTING SYSTEM I HAVE USED

Pros

The ease of use is crucial, but what's even more important is that whenever I encounter a problem, the staff at FSI promptly returns my calls, fixes any issues, and ensures everything is corrected. They are always professional and courteous.

Cons

I haven't come across any features that I dislike or don't use.

Be Careful. Implementation is PAINFUL and we never got it to work after 10 months

Pros

I'm struggling to find anything positive about it. We attempted to implement it and go online for 10 months, but we never reached the finish line. The billing process is clunky, and grid timecards don't function on a tablet without a web based solution. Customer service is slow in responding to inquiries. I would recommend considering other options. It was an expensive lesson for me.

Cons

The implementation process was awful, unplanned, and lacked a proper script. Even after 10 months, we couldn't get it to work fully, which cost us a significant amount of money and time we couldn't spare. The implementation team showed absolutely zero sense of urgency. We only received one to two hours of training per week, and that was it. Additionally, the software doesn't support credit card payments, and the billing process is inconvenient when dealing with numerous small jobs. Inputting data takes more time than the actual work.

The most user friendly software I've used in the 20 years

Pros

Software includes many automated features that save me time. For instance, the accounting module has quick reversal buttons that auto-generate reversals for AP payments, AP invoices, journal entries and more. Change orders are directly linked to my billing and automatically direct me to the AIA screen to update the billing line item. Overall, its a system that works seamlessly with me which allows for easy data entry and generating a wide range of reports for every department. Also its the most user-friendly software I've encountered in my 20 years of accounting.

Cons

I was disappointed that the Foundation Mobile app lacked the reporting features our management staff needs to run our jobsites. If they add more reporting features, especially clock-in time reporting, I did readily switch, as the seamless import previously saved our payroll department hours of review time.

Great for Heavy Equipment Contractors

Pros

This package is excellent for billing and tracking heavy equipment. It was fairly easy to use and produced the necessary reports efficiently.

Cons

I didn't find much to comment on, as I only used the Equipment portion of the package.

Pros

Foundations Software review

Pros

The ease of use, combined with the excellent support from Foundations, is great. They never make you feel inadequate, unlike some tech support personnel. The staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable reaching out to them. Logging a call is effortless, and they put you at ease. It's like discussing a problem with a friend. I appreciate that they can log into your system and demonstrate on the screen how to fix an issue or mistake. They were there for me when I was learning the system. Initially, I logged calls almost every day, but I never felt like I was a burden to them.

Cons

I enjoy every aspect of it. For our company, there don't seem to be any drawbacks.

Excellent software and exceptional techinical support

Pros

We have been using Foundation Construction Accounting for nearly fifteen years, and we couldn't be happier with this software. It has proven to be reliable and well developed, making it one of the most user friendly and logical programs in our firm. The reporting capabilities are excellent and utilized not only by our accounting staff but also by our project management team for monitoring job performance and budget/cost comparisons. Foundation is highly responsive to client requests for changes and improvements to modules and reporting. Furthermore, their technical support team is incredible! We have never encountered an issue they couldn't promptly and accurately resolve. Their technical support is one of the top reasons we continue to use Foundation.

Cons

There is nothing we dislike about this software.

Great product with AMAZING customer service

Pros

The software is straightforward to use and customizable. It's uncomplicated, and the customer service is exceptional.

Cons

I wish there were more standard accounting reports available, such as year to date income statements and balance sheets, as well as the ability to customize standard budget reports. Having more filtering criteria to run reports would be fantastic.

My Foundation Software Experience

Pros

We decided to use the SAS application, which provides us with 100% free support since we pay a monthly fee. Additionally Foundation takes care of tax tables and has them preloaded.

Cons

I believe Foundation is somewhat resistant to outside suggestions. Currently, they require written submissions from users like myself. I would prefer to explain my suggestion over the phone to a Foundation employee who can then document it. This way, they can fully understand the requested change and determine its feasibility. I would feel that my suggestion received a fair hearing and wasn't simply disregarded.

Great Software, Very Good Value, Oustanding Support. Usually get call back within 30 minutes

Pros

Ease of use is a major plus. Once we got through the implementation, which was quite simple, we were up and running. The payroll importing feature for timecards is outstanding, eliminating daily data entry except for overhead employees. I can create my menu and follow the steps easily. Accounts Payable features are user-friendly, with quick data input and I can attach copies of invoices for others to view what was shipped and invoiced. Check writing is simple and automatically generates an additional invoice stub if the invoices exceed the check's space.

Cons

I did like to see the ability to create more reports and lists without extraneous data. Currently, I have to import to Excel for some things, which feels like an unnecessary extra step. It would be useful to insert blank lines on custom employee lists to separate employees. Additionally, there are no subaccounts for more detailed tracking, like repairs to buildings or keeping auto expenses separate unless you purchase the equipment module.

GREAT TIMESAVER!

Pros

Adapting to the new accounting system is taking some time, considering we previously used QuickBooks Pro Desktop and relied on manual calculations. QuickBooks had limitations with job costing, making it challenging to run accurate reports. However, Foundation has completely transformed our processes! We can now automate various tasks such as job costing, material tracking, payroll, invoice approvals for accounts payable and correspondence tied to specific jobs via email. Furthermore, we can track our equipment all in one place and link each transaction to the relevant job when necessary. Although we're still in the early stages with Foundation, we're excited about the many years of service ahead.

Cons

So far, we haven't encountered many things that we dislike. The setup process is highly detailed, but the implementation team has been fantastic. The only significant issue we've faced is that our salesperson and account manager are not the same person. We had developed a strong relationship with our salesperson during the six months we were searching for a new ERP. Now, I feel like I have to explain everything about our business all over again, and possibly reexplain it once the implementation team is done.

Pros

I find customer care and tech support to be excellent. They assist me with everything I need.

Cons

I wish certain connections were available that are not currently. The invoice entry for AP could definitely use some improvement.
