Pros

This software is fantastic for keeping all project-related documents in one place. It connects all the items I use daily to the project, so I do not have to store them on my computer.

Cons

It took me a little time to navigate and figure out where and how to get things entered, as well as creating forms. Overall, there is not much I dislike.

Pros

I love how user-friendly Foundation is. Whenever I have needed help, their fantastic support reps have always been there for me.

Cons

I find it quite simple and easy to use. I have not come across anything I do nt like. There are a few features I did like to see, but those are just personal preferences.

“Amazing Construction Accounting Softwarez!

Pros

When my team and I conducted our initial search for construction accounting software, Foundation Software outperformed three competitors by excelling in several areas: 1. Job costing, 2. The report genie (no need for expensive crystal reports), 3. The payroll module, including certified payroll reports and the ability to upload certified payroll to the DIR in California or to Lcp Tracker, 4. The ability to cloud Foundation Software with SaaS, 5. Customer support, 6. The price point.

Cons

No CAM software, whether its Viewpoint, Sage 300, or Foundation Software, will ever be perfect. Having used all three in my career, I can always find issues with each. My main issue with Foundation Software is the invoice approval process for accounts payable invoices. It does not seem as seamless as with their competitors, so we are using an old-school method where our project manager codes the invoices by hand and uses manila folders. To be fair to Foundation Software, Viewpoint relies on expensive crystal reports for reporting, and Sage 300 could use a facelift to be more user-friendly.

“Love FOUNDATION Software

Every aspect of FOUNDATION is incredibly user-friendly! Whenever I run into issues, I am always impressed by their amazing support team. FOUNDATION manages every function in the construction business, including keeping track of my inventory so I do not have to spend my entire weekend crunching numbers. I have never encountered a happier support team than FOUNDATIONs they select and train their employees with great care, and they are extremely patient and accommodating if I do not understand something after its been explained. They take the time necessary to help me grasp every detail.

Cons

I once encountered an issue where I could not get something from the software that I needed. However, it was added in the next software update. FOUNDATION clearly listens to their customers and makes improvements based on their feedback.

Pros

The software was easy to use after the initial training. The invoice attachments feature was new to us and proved to be very helpful.

Cons

The reports contained the details I needed but when I tried to export them, they came out unreadable.

Pros

The interface is very user-friendly, and running MS Query through the SQL database allows me to generate a wide variety of reports.

Cons

Some of the standard built-in reports in the payroll module are not very comprehensive.

“Too many clicks and not user friendly

The project management tab is fantastic. Its great to have everything for one job consolidated in a single location.

Cons

I am not pleased with much of it. The software is not user-friendly and I frequently have to call for help, even though I consider myself tech-savvy. There are too many unnecessary clicks; for instance, running a report requires inputting dates, whereas ComputerEase usually runs reports for the year without needing specific dates unless requested. This is just a minor detail, but as a huge fan of ComputerEase, I found that software easy to learn and use quickly. Also, changing any detail in Foundation is a very tedious process, and any adjustments make the reports look messy. I think most people who like this software have not used other construction accounting software. They get excited about having everything in one place. I have a long list of suggestions, so feel free to call me anytime!

“Good product for construction companies

Pros

I like the consistency of workflow across modules, the tight integration with the Payroll4Construction product and the minimal conflicts when multiple users are in the same module. Our previous accounting system caused daily conflicts. Posting is streamlined with good paperless options, and its easy to modify print templates for invoices, checks and more.

Cons

The report module could be a bit more robust when it comes to creating custom reports. While we've managed to build reports that meet our needs, they aren't as customized as those we could create with our previous system (which used Crystal Reports).

I liked that it offered a construction-friendly platform.

The security was lacking at first but has improved significantly now.

The all in one aspect of the accounting power combined with the project management module is something I like the most.

Cons

Some aspects can be cumbersome. The PM module needs a more user-friendly interface.

Pros

It was easy to set up and manage. The administration side is very intuitive and comes with many features.

Cons

I can't force password changes. Additionally, the software creates two local SQL users for each user account added to Foundation. The second account is not necessary and should be manually deleted from SQL for security reasons.

I found this software easy to navigate and was able to learn it quickly.

Cons

I had trouble importing information but Foundation helped me resolve the issue.

Pros

The versatility, access to our own data and support from implementation through to current issues have been outstanding. The price is fair for the true value it provides.

Customizing invoices, Pos and similar documents can be cumbersome.

The flexibility to meet our operational needs is fantastic. Billing is much easier with Foundation compared to our previous software.

Reporting is scattered, and I am still searching to find the reports I need.

Pros

Having worked with several unions across the country, I find that Foundation is the only software company that truly understands unions without requiring us to customize the software. Every union in various cities and states has different requirements and Foundation has incorporated them all into their existing software. The flow is easy to follow, and their trainers and support team are top-notch.

Cons

I dislike that I have to rely on them to do the posting when I need to cut a manual check. It can be a bit frustrating but its not a major issue compared to the other benefits they offer.

“Good for Project-based Job Costing

Pros

I manage multiple business lines with it. We use it for project-based business costing, product sales and consulting services.

Cons

It is difficult to learn without formal training. I would recommend having the entire accounting team attend virtual learning sessions.

“Accounts Receivable

Pros

It is very easy to use. The reports are great and I can easily enter invoices, pay bills and check subcontract/PO balances. Job entry is also simple with Foundation.

Cons

Creating reports with Genies is somewhat confusing. It would be much easier if I could pull items directly onto the report, view them and if needed, easily drag them out and add them back before reviewing.

Pros

Its very easy to use. I can find the information I need with just a few keystrokes. I believe anyone can use this program.

Cons

I feel the program is geared towards smaller companies, as it seems to lack some functions that larger companies might need. Additionally, a web-based solution is now better for field use.
