Generates clear documents

Pros

Take-off results are highly accurate and the documents the software produces are incredibly clear and easy to read.

Cons

After using Measure Square for many years, I've noticed that every feature I thought could use improvement has been updated in the newest release which has really smoothed out my workflow. I genuinely have no complaints to raise.

Its easy to use, measure and quantify on site and even quote on site.

Cons

For me some features are unnecessary, though I know they would definitely benefit other users.

Cant adjust quotes

Pros

I find the carpet and m2 tools pretty simple to manage and they work well for my needs but I would love to have some quick-action points or shortcuts to speed things up.

Cons

Honestly, it's really frustrating that I can't tweak quotes the way we want, including subtitles and I also hate that the system only lets me copy and paste one line at a time when I often need entire paragraphs.

Simple to take measurements

Pros

it's really simple to take measurements and explore multiple layout options quickly.

Cons

I'd love a feature that locks individual cuts because whenever I tweak something the app reshuffles the specific cut diagram and then I have to manually put everything back in order.

Pros

I find it fast, accurate and really easy.

Cons

For my work I need one extra user per license. Samsung tablets struggle.

Smooth integration with laser measurer

Pros

On iOS, the app is really simple to use. The connection with my laser measurer works flawlessly. It's also very forgiving and if I mess up, correcting it is incredibly easy.

Cons

When I try the Windows commercial version, I've noticed it's a little buggy and the way it links to the laser measurer can be hit-or-miss. By contrast, the desktop edition performs wonderfully. I wouldn't trust the Windows build for on-site measurements. Whenever I make an error, it's usually quicker for me to remove the room and start over instead of attempting to repair it.

Makes my workload lighter

Pros

Using it has made my workload lighter because it's so simple to operate and it lifts the burden from me of measuring every single thing manually.

Cons

Please don't roll out major updates without giving me a heads-up.

pattern tools are complex

Pros

Fast to use once I've worked through the whole process of setting up my database

Cons

I find the pattern tools overly complex and the sheet-material layout frequently clashes with Australian standards and ends up wasteful so I have to rejig things too much. Also, making door openings is something I wish were simpler.

Easy once you get the hang of it

Pros

It's simple to use once you get the hang of it. It really is a turnkey solution.

Cons

I find the absence of unit pricing on the worksheet to be a real drawback.

Reliable takeoff process

Pros

I find the software incredibly simple to use and the takeoff process is both fast and reliable. Backup support is easy to access with one-on-one tutorials and YouTube clips that share practical tips. The free-drawing capability is truly exceptional, allowing me to triangulate and compute measurements for walls that are difficult to reach with a laser.

Cons

It would be much more convenient if there were a way to import new costings, for example from an Excel spreadsheet because at the moment I have to input each item individually which takes a lot of extra time.

Top-notch customer service

Pros

It's really easy to use and very user-friendly. Their customer support is top-notch. We regularly reach out to Kevin, who always offers patient, knowledgeable and extremely helpful guidance. Honestly, the assistance alone justifies the price.

Cons

I find that adjusting the 'assemblies', the way we attach labor and installation materials to individual items can be tricky at times. I've had to devise some clever workarounds but MS keeps steadily improving and genuinely welcomes our feedback as customers.

Brings in revenue for us

Pros

As a business, it definitely brings in revenue for us, no question about that. It's simple to use, the team keeps rolling out useful updates and the MeasureSquare staff are always energetic and willing to lend a hand.

Cons

I kept hearing about software that you can operate with a single click and then everything is taken care of but I haven't come across anything like that and MeasureSquare isn't the magical exception. You're still expected to invest time to learn how to use it properly.

Timesaving software

Pros

We rely on the import and takeoff features along with our disto to sketch plans on-site every day. The software is simple to use and the takeoffs are easy to follow. It saves us a ton of time, we no longer misplace plan copies and we present a much more professional image.

Cons

I still struggle to tweak the pricing worksheets so I continue using an Excel spreadsheet to calculate job costs. I'd also like an option to link all our data directly and seamlessly into Xero.

very user-friendly with easy customization

Pros

I'm finding it very user-friendly and I can easily modify or create various elements like arcs, dividers, elevations and borders.

Cons

I'd like better control over tax settings so I can separate material costs from labor when adjusting tax rates.

5.0

Designed by flooring professionals

Pros

To me, MeasureSquare is a fast-loading, mega powerhouse for floorcovering estimating, brilliant from start to finish and you can immediately tell it was crafted by flooring professionals who know the trade. I found anyone can jump into M8, whether they're a simple "box painter" beginner or a hardcore power user and industry disrupter. All the features I need for standout estimates and detailed renders are included. The 3D render has been a lifesaver for someone like me who struggles with 2D, helping me picture complex fascia and the behind-the-scenes slab layout calculations. The way it can auto-assign items like weld rod or cove sundries feels way ahead of its time.

Cons

I don't expect to master it quickly. As with other powerful, feature-rich apps such as AutoCAD, Photoshop and SketchUp, its vast array of options means it demands a significant time investment to reach true mastery.

stuck on an old version because the new one feels like a beta

Pros

I've freed up a ton of space in my office since I no longer keep blueprints and those enormous filing folders cluttering every surface.

Cons

When I check out the latest version, it honestly feels like I'm looking at a beta release of the software. I'm convinced that over time you've enhanced the functionality but to my eyes the 2015 release still looks cleaner and puts things where they belong. Maybe someday I'll find the time to relearn the workflow and get comfortable with the new layout but right now I simply don't have the bandwidth to start from scratch and I haven't made that effort since it launched. It frustrates me that I'm paying for the current release while continuing to rely on an unsupported copy but I suppose eventually I'll be forced to switch.

Love it!

Pros

Really enjoyed working with Measure Square. I appreciate how simple and user-friendly it is to use.

Cons

It would be really helpful if they added back a column in proposal outputs that specifies how many square feet or yards are contained in a single box of any material because that detail was extremely handy in the previous version and I miss having it available.
