“Full-featured ecommerce platform”
Pros
It is a full e-commerce platform with a built-in feature set, including advanced SEO tools, multi-storefront feature and multi-currency support. It handles our performance well, scales nicely as our business grows and it's a big plus that there are no transaction fees when we use a third-party payment processor.
Cons
There's definitely some time required to learn it although that comes with how many features the platform offers. The selection of included themes is also fairly limited. Another downside is that pricing is tied to your revenue so as sales increase, you can end up being pushed into a higher plan.

“easy customization for any market”
Pros
Our team has been able to tailor the website to fit a wide variety of products and markets which has been a huge advantage. The analytics are also really strong and give us valuable insight.
Cons
The cost is definitely on the high side compared with other platforms although it does align better with what we need. It's also not as beginner-friendly as some of the other options we looked at.

“good value for money”
Pros
Amount of features it offers make it really worth the money because it covers everything we need. The interface is easy to explore which makes it simple for new users to get started without any confusion. Even people without technical skills can pick it up quickly.
Cons
I don't have any complaints about this software. It works reliably without any issues and I've been very happy using it.

“worth the switch”
Pros
Switching from WooCommerce made one advantage of this tool very clear: its true hierarchical category structure. When we compared BigCommerce Enterprise with Shopify Plus, Shopify's Collections couldn't really mirror our deep category and subcategory setup unless we added extra apps. It handled that natively which made our catalog organization and SEO planning much easier. Another feature that has been genuinely useful is the platform's built-in product customization. We can add required acknowledgements, collect customer input through text fields or choice options and use the Product Pick List so customers can add compatible accessories or components right from the product page. For businesses selling modular or highly configurable products, that flexibility is valuable and cuts down a lot on app-based workarounds. The Promotions editor deserves credit too. At one point I suggested the option to cap a percentage discount by a dollar amount and that capability was later introduced which works really well for certain promo setups. On the B2B side, the pricing tools are practical and adaptable. With Enterprise, we can choose between Customer Groups, Price Lists or the Promotions engine depending on the use case and each one fills a different need. It's also a big plus that we're able to run both D2C and B2B on the same platform with one catalog and one promotions engine while still applying B2B-specific pricing and visibility where needed instead of managing separate systems. The app ecosystem is good too. Shopify still has more apps overall but it usually offers strong choices in the key categories and the available apps fit mid-market requirements well. We've also had a good experience with theme customization. Since the theming system is based on standard web technologies, the theme editor and Script Manager made it possible to add small JavaScript calculators, light CSS changes and other front-end tweaks with basic coding knowledge and a little help from AI, instead of needing to hire a developer for every update. Support has been dependable overall as well and after moving from Pro to Enterprise, the response times and level of technical follow-up improved noticeably.
Cons
One area that hasn't been very helpful is the built-in AI copywriter so we still use outside AI tools to create product descriptions. The biggest drawback on our side is the limited third-party support for Multi-Storefront and Multi-Location. It offers both features but a lot of OMS, ERP and inventory platforms still don't integrate with them in a way that makes a true single-backend, multi-storefront setup realistic. The capability is promising but until the broader ecosystem catches up, we've had to keep separate stores running. We also ran into frustration with how it presents its negotiated or preferred Braintree card rates on the pricing page. The published rates look very appealing but there didn't seem to be any clear or realistic way to actually get them. The documentation didn't explain the qualification process, support sent us to Braintree and even after meeting the listed requirements, it became obvious those rates were not truly accessible in practice. In the end, we negotiated with other payment gateways and moved on. Their newer payments option for non-Enterprise plans seems to show rates that are much closer to what merchants can really expect. Search is another weak point right now. Semantic Search was announced for 2024 and still hasn't shown up. At the same time, Shopify's native search has gotten much better so, it feels behind unless you bring in a third-party search tool. The company seems to be putting more attention into agentic search efforts and Feedonomics Surface which doesn't really solve the onsite search relevance issue today.

“easy product management”
Pros
Managing products on this platform has been a really positive experience for us especially with larger catalogs where performance still holds up well. It also helps a lot that it comes with strong built-in product management tools so there's less need to depend heavily on external plugins.
Cons
Getting started with the interface can feel a bit confusing at first and it takes some time to become fully comfortable with the number of options it provides.

“my user experience”
Pros
Running this platform has been a big plus for our team especially with abandoned cart recovery, multi-channel selling, advanced built-in SEO tools that add to our reporting capabilities and real-time shipping quotes.
Cons
The tradeoff for deeper customization is that the interface is not the simplest to use. That said our team completed training before getting started which made the transition much easier. Also, the premium themes are fairly expensive.

“Nice storefront look”
Pros
The customer-facing website has a polished look to it. The scrolling banner across the home page is a nice touch though I think it would be better if there were room to add one or two more images.
Cons
Working with the preset templates is really frustrating and hard to manage. Setting up promotions is particularly complicated and a lot of the time when I update one section, it ends up changing or removing content somewhere else.

Pros
Platform has been very user friendly for me. The interface is clean, the integration options are useful and the features I needed most were organized in a way that made them quick to locate.
Cons
Every now and then, I ran into random glitches. A few add-ons claimed to be compatible but actually were not and I also had some trouble with image uploads.

“promo discounts run automatically”
Pros
This has been a really strong integration tool for connecting our in-store and online inventory and it also lets us set up promotional discounts that apply automatically.
Cons
A challenge is that the platform expects you to understand some "computer language" and the related "rules" in order to configure promotions correctly.

“Products are easy to edit”
Pros
Editing products is pretty easy, the app marketplace is powerful and customer support has been reliable. The UI has improved a lot over the years as well so customizing out store feels more manageable now and there are plenty of partners available if you need more advanced store customizations.
Cons
Reporting features are the part I'm least satisfied with. They feel somewhat limited and not very flexible when it comes to customization. I'd really like to see more built-in reporting options especially for products that have variants. It would also be nice if they made improvements to B2B Ninja, the quoting tool they acquired.

Pros
Clean interface makes the platform approachable and simple to work with. There are plenty of data points available in the backend and the drag-and-drop builder makes it possible for my team to create a frontend without needing much technical knowledge.
Cons
Only limitation I've run into is that some of the more advanced features can't be done either because a needed plugin isn't available or because there's no option to inject custom code.
