What Is ProfitMetrics?

ProfitMetrics is an e-commerce profit tracking and marketing optimization platform that provides merchants and digital growth agencies with real-time profitability insights to optimize marketing expenditure. Through server-side tracking, the platform improves conversion data accuracy across advertising channels and connects order-level profitability with marketing performance. Its analytics dashboards aggregate store expenses and advertising costs, allowing marketing teams to evaluate campaigns using POAS® instead of relying solely on ROAS.

The platform also calculates profit for individual orders by accounting for discounts, shipping, payment fees, cost of goods, and packaging and handling expenses. Overall, these capabilities help online stores identify wasted ad spend, optimize campaigns and products based on profit, and scale their most profitable opportunities.

What Is ProfitMetrics Best For?

ProfitMetrics is best known for its 'Shopping Booster', which segments products based on profitability and performance to create targeted Google Shopping and Performance Max campaigns. The tool lets advertisers assign separate bids, budgets, and targets to product groups, helping direct Google’s algorithm toward products that contribute to their bottom line. Its POAS® bidding capabilities help further prioritize products based on their actual profitability.

ProfitMetrics Use Cases

Based on our analysis of ProfitMetrics current capabilities, we have identified key scenarios where this software is a good fit for online retail merchants, performance marketing leads, and digital growth agencies:

Validating Product Profitability Before Scaling Ad Spend

Retailers calculating product margins from COGS alone may struggle to determine which categories are actually profitable. Costs such as shipping, payment fees, discounts, and packaging and handling can make products appear more profitable than they are. ProfitMetrics' cost data integration and POAS® help calculate Gross Profit per order and compare it with ad spend, allowing marketing teams to create accurate margin-based segments and validate ROAS targets against actual profit outcomes.

Scaling Ad Spend During Peak Sales Periods

Marketing teams preparing for peak sales periods may struggle to increase advertising budgets when conversion tracking is incomplete and revenue-based metrics do not show whether additional spend is profitable. Conflicting data between GA4 and Google Ads, combined with limited visibility into costs such as COGS, shipping, payment fees, and packaging, can make budget decisions difficult. ProfitMetrics' Server-Side Tracking and POAS® provide more reliable conversion data and profit visibility, allowing teams to allocate budgets based on product and campaign profitability. This helps retailers scale advertising more confidently while maintaining greater control over profitability.

Evaluating Profitability Across Multiple Markets

Businesses operating across multiple international markets may struggle to determine which markets are genuinely profitable when revenue and ROAS do not account for regional costs such as shipping, returns, and payment fees. ProfitMetrics' Real-time Dashboard allows teams to analyze profitability across different markets, currencies, and date ranges while accounting for relevant costs. This gives marketing teams a clearer view of which markets contribute to profit and helps them make informed decisions when adjusting advertising strategies or entering new markets.

Monitoring Real-Time Profitability Before Scaling Ad Spend

Online stores handling large numbers of orders may struggle to identify changes in profitability when performance data is reviewed only through periodic reports. ProfitMetrics' Real-time Dashboard brings together data from the e-commerce backend and marketing channels, allowing teams to monitor profit after ad spend, costs, and other relevant metrics throughout the day. Customizable visualizations help teams track changes in customer, marketing, and order performance as they occur, enabling timely adjustments to advertising strategies.

Is ProfitMetrics Right For You?

Relying on revenue-based tracking masks true product margins, leading e-commerce brands to waste ad budgets on low-profit orders. ProfitMetrics resolves this transparency gap by delivering server-side conversion data and automated POAS bidding directly to ad channels. This real-time visibility enables marketing teams to protect baseline profitability while aggressively scaling their most valuable catalog items.

Endorsed by scaling e-commerce brands like Prebo Digital, this GDPR-compliant platform maximizes marketing efficiency.
