A fantastic one-stop shop for building an e-commerce store, but can get pricey as you scale

Pros

Setting up Shopify is so simple, and the platform offers a great selection of templates that are also highly customizable. The settings are organized in a way that makes managing everything very simple.

Cons

Shopify doesn't support transactions in all currencies and countries without relying on third-party plug-ins, which can be limiting. Moreover I think the translation feature could be improved for a more seamless global experience.

Shopify is the most user-friendly digital storefront software out there

Pros

Shopify is excellent for tracking and visualizing the daily performance of our online store. The platform is easy to navigate, and its features make it simple to stay on top of store progress.

Cons

While I'm glad that Shopify is robust, the native product list filtering options could be more comprehensive. It's a bit tedious to rely on multiple plug ins to handle this, especially when some basic features should be available out of the box.

Good, but not exceptional

Pros

I love receiving email notifications every time a sale is made. It keeps me updated and connected to my business.

Cons

The backend editing system can be challenging for some users, making it less intuitive for those who are not as tech-savvy. I think the learning curve could be reduced with a more user-friendly interface.

Limited website functionality for CBD businesses

Pros

Shopify offers the ability to integrate numerous third-party apps, provides backend code access for full customization and supports a variety of third-party payment processors.

Cons

Shopify charges transaction fees for using third-party payment processors and my business, which is in the CBD industry, can't use Shopify Payments. This, combined with the additional costs of a lower tier plan has impacted my profit margin. The restrictions on CBD companies limit our access to some of Shopify's other features, which is frustrating.

It's not ideal for beginners

Pros

There are so many options with Shopify, which opens up incredible possibilities for tailoring your store and enhancing its functionality.

Cons

The ease of use could be much better. It feels like I have to connect everything with multiple steps, which can get frustrating. This lack of simplicity in the integration process makes it unnecessarily tedious.

My checkout process is always reliable, unlike others

Pros

After owning my eCommerce store for 7 years, I can confidently say that Shopify offers the best customer service and secure checkout system I've encountered. I can easily manage the store myself, try new themes, and add or remove apps without hassle.

Cons

Building traffic to my site has been challenging since migrating from WooCommerce, and some of the themes I've tried are quite expensive, which has added to the difficulties.

Excellent platform for managing orders

Pros

What I appreciate most about Shopify is how intuitive the platform is. It makes it simple for our customer service team to navigate orders and resolve customer issues swiftly. Managing cancellations and modifications is simple, which helps streamline our operations.

Cons

The only real flaw I've experienced with Shopify is the difficulty of integrating with certain apps. While the platform itself is solid, connecting it to some third party tools can be tricky, which is an area that could use improvement.

It's is popular for a reason

Pros

Shopify was easy to learn and incredibly simple. It's by far the best platform for adding products that I've used.

Cons

It is definitely on the pricier side compared to some alternatives, but in my opinion, it's worth the investment for the functionality and support it offers.

A reliable, scalable platform with outstanding support

Pros

The platform's reliability is a major advantage, and the support team is excellent. They've always been quick to respond, knowledgeable and helpful whenever we've had questions. It's clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority for Shopify. I really like it.

Cons

A downside I've encountered is that custom apps need to be hosted on external servers. While Shopify offers numerous app integrations, maintaining separate hosting for custom apps increases both workload and operational costs.

The golden handcuffs of e-commerce

Pros

If you're satisfied with shopify's built in functionality and design, it's a fantastic turnkey solution that doesn't require much additional effort.

Cons

Customizing the platform or adding additional functionality can be quite difficult and frustrating at times. The process isn't as straightforward as I would like.

I am happy overall just there's a learning curve if you're not tech-savvy

Pros

I'm still learning how to use it and right now I'm working on linking TikTok. It's been a bit of a struggle, but I'm getting the hang of it. For those not very tech-savvy, there is a learning curve but I'm making progress.

Cons

Tech support can be slow at times when it comes to problem-solving, which can be a bit frustrating, but overall, the service is still quite good.

A comprehensive e-commerce platform with just a few minor flaws

Pros

Shopify is an all-in-one platform that has everything you need to sell online, from invoicing and payments to integrations and user tracking. The app marketplace is extensive, offering solutions for every need, and the support is fantastic, with plenty of tutorials to help you make the most of the platform.

Cons

There is a definite learning curve with Shopify. The website builder isn't as flexible as platforms like Squarespace. The user experience while building from templates feels limited, and tasks like swapping pages require accessing code folders. However I believe, with solid documentation and video resources, these hurdles are manageable.

easy to use platform

Pros

I've used Shopify to build and manage my online store, and it's been a great experience. It's easy to use, provides a fast setup, and offers features like inventory tracking, payments, analytics, and marketing tools to help manage the store.

Cons

To truly elevate your Shopify store, a developer is often required. The default templates don't offer all the advanced features and functionality that a more customized website might need.

Perfect for growing an e-commerce business with plenty of customization options

Pros

Shopify is a versatile platform that works well for both beginners and more experienced users. Setting up the store is easy with a wide range of beautiful, customizable themes. The app marketplace offers plenty of tools for added functionality like marketing, analytics and dropshipping. Plus customer support is reliable and always helpful, which makes it a great option for maintaining a smooth-running store.

Cons

While I find Shopify's core features to be strong, the costs can add up quickly, especially for a small business like mine. Many of the more advanced features, such as detailed reporting and some apps, are only available on higher-tier plans, which can get quite expensive. On top of that, there are transaction fees unless I use Shopify Payments, so I have to keep those costs in mind when evaluating the overall expense of using the platform.

Excellent and easy to use

Pros

Shopify is very user-friendly and easy to use, even for someone with no prior experience in building websites.

Cons

The platform can become expensive, especially if you need to purchase several apps for additional functionality. The free themes are somewhat limiting, and if I want something more customizable, it usually means an additional cost.

Very convenient

Pros

I appreciate the convenience of Shopify as an alternative to Amazon and the marketplace features allow for healthy competition between vendors.

Cons

The fees associated with the app are also very high, which can be discouraging, especially when I have just started out.

Is Shopify the ultimate e-commerce solution?

Pros

After trying several platforms, I've found Shopify to be the most robust and customizable, with great accessibility for small businesses.

Cons

The platform has a lot of moving parts and this can be overwhelming for entrepreneurs who are new to it. Even though building a website is fairly direct, a lot of common features seem to be missing, meaning I either have to pay for an app or hire someone to code them in.

Such a great product

Pros

Great product that's easy to use. I especially love the available add-ons.

Cons

I wish I could add more user IDs to my account, as there are limitations on the number of users allowed, which can be a drawback for growing teams.
