Pretty restrictive setup

Pros

The template choices are strong and the built-in mobile optimization is a real plus. Squarespace also does a nice job with its all in one setup for domains, website management, analytics and eCommerce.

Cons

At the same time it felt pretty restrictive and made it hard to fully create the site I had in mind. Even though they now offer built-in domain support, connecting my existing domain took several tries and I kept running into an endless is updating message that never actually completed. I had to contact support multiple times and the issue still wasn't resolved. On top of that while the all in one setup is convenient, integrating apps outside their fairly limited library was difficult or not possible at all.

templates helped, store tools didn't

Pros

Having a selection of templates to pick from was definitely a plus.

Cons

It didn't perform well for our online store and making custom design changes was harder than it should have been. A lot of the time, it felt like the platform was working against me instead of helping.

Cons

There's a small learning curve at first but it's nothing too hard to get past. Beyond that the platform seems very easy to use.

all-in-one website setup delight

Pros

Picking a template and building the site I had in mind was really easy. Getting my domain purchased and setting up Google Workspace was simple too and having everything handled in one place made the whole process much more convenient.

Cons

The pricing felt a bit higher than I hoped, though I am not sure there's a cheaper option that delivers results this good.

flexible design with simple setup

Pros

It is very user-friendly but it still gives enough freedom to customize things and make the site feel like your own.

Cons

One limitation I noticed was that some marketing tools especially email automation, were a bit restricted unless I upgraded with the add-on.

clean design and helpful support

Pros

Squarespace combines a clean, simple design with customer service that's exactly right for a startup website platform.

Cons

Getting started can feel a bit overwhelming because of all the options, even if that seems intentional. It does become more manageable over time once you understand how the different projects connect and work together.

stylish templates with flexibility

Pros

It comes with beautiful, professionally designed templates that can be customized a lot so putting together a visually appealing website feels very achievable.

Cons

Compared with competitors like Wix, the editing interface is not as user friendly which can make things a little challenging when you're just starting out.

With this platform getting a site up and running right away is really easy. Overall it works well out of the box and makes the whole creation process feel very simple.

affordable website builder

Pros

A really great option for any small website as it's affordable, easy to work with and makes it simple to build a beautiful site whether you need e-commerce features or just a standard website.

Cons

It doesn't feel like the best fit for large-scale e-commerce stores that need a lot of customization and flexibility.

The built-in templates are a big plus and right from the start it asks a few questions so the website can be tailored to what you need.

Cons

The downside is that the available options feel pretty limited so there is not a lot of flexibility when choosing.

team invoicing in one place

Pros

Having everything for the whole team in one place is really useful with Squarespace. It also makes sending invoices pretty simple and convenient.

Cons

The one part that bothered me was the security side. I didn't really feel comfortable putting personal information in there because it didn't seem very secure.

simple setup and beginner-friendly

Pros

The thing I like is that getting a basic website up and running is pretty quick. Also the drag and drop editor makes the whole process seem very approachable. Plus it is easy to learn right away and you definitely don't need any web development experience to start using it.

Cons

The available templates and design styles can feel a bit limiting when you want more creative flexibility.

versatile sales setup

Pros

Works really well for both online and in-person sales and the platform is simple to use in either setup.

Cons

When you have a large inventory, adding products takes some careful attention since each item needs to be entered individually but once everything is set up, managing it is pretty easy.

Pros

The interface looks very user-friendly and the design templates look really attractive. Also it is very convenient having everything, including hosting and e-commerce, available in one place.

Cons

At the same time, the customization features feel a little restricted and the pricing is somewhat higher than some other platforms. It's also a downside that phone support isn't available.

flexible site and email tools

Pros

Being able to build the site myself and make updates on my own is a big plus and there are plenty of tools available for both website creation and email development.

Cons

Since it's a DIY platform, it can take some time to figure out how to do everything you want and it still doesn't offer all the functionality that MailChimp has.

affordable site building freedom

Pros

Needing a website usually means spending a lot of time explaining every detail to a developer and that can get expensive fast. Squarespace has been a really practical alternative for me. Even without being a developer, I have been able to build several websites for my professional work at a reasonable cost. I can pick a template, customize the pages the way I want and get the site published without much hassle.

Cons

One thing I'd still want is a wider selection of templates. There are already plenty available but I sometimes struggle to find ones that match my specific purpose a bit better.
