affordable but limited payments

Pros

Squarespace is quite easy to use and is fairly user friendly. Plus it's quick, efficient and the pricing stays affordable.

Support is there when needed

Pros

Since 2013 Squarespace has been the only website builder I have stuck with and it is like much more than just a basic builder. If you're not a web designer, the professionally made templates give you a really nice starting point and help your site look modern right away. Their customer support is consistently available whenever questions come up and the team has been some of the kindest and quickest I have dealt with. The interface is also clean and simple to navigate so the steps and actions make sense from the start.

Cons

One frustrating part was the move from version 7.0 to 7.1 which felt a bit odd compared to what I expected. It ended up being time-consuming and honestly quite a pain to deal with.

Multiple useful features available

Pros

Squarespace is very easy to use. A design background definitely helps but it's not necessary to understand how the platform works or to build with it confidently. At the same time it's a very powerful tool with a wide range of comprehensive features.

Cons

Like with pretty much any website builder, there are always a few features that seem obvious but still aren't included. I ran into that when I wanted to create a scrolling image carousel. Still, there are workarounds and even though it took a little extra effort, I was able to use the available tools to get pretty close to the result I wanted.

support vanished completely

Pros

Back in 2010 Squarespace felt like a much more connected platform and that long history says a lot about how well we knew the company. In the early days, there was a real sense of community and customer care and even from Australia, email replies usually came through in a reasonable time. As the company grew, though, both the service and overall quality slowly declined. They started rolling out framework changes with very little support and that ended up breaking parts of the website. SEO performance has never been particularly strong either, based on the rankings we've consistently received. Now, after almost 14 years as a customer, they've taken our site offline for the past two weeks. No one will explain why it happened or tell us what needs to be done to fix it. I have submitted one ticket after another and gotten no response at all. It feels like the priority is getting more people signed up, not taking care of them once they're in. At this point it comes across more as a marketing funnel than a company that stands behind its users when they actually need help.

Cons

Customer support and customer care are basically nonexistent at this company. I honestly cannot understand how replying to simple emails can be this difficult for them.

stylish website building platform

Pros

Building and managing a website with Squarespace is like having both simplicity and strong functionality in one place. It's a really amazing option for anyone who cares about design as much as performance and it works well for both beginners and more experienced users. From the first steps to launching and maintaining a site, the overall experience seems well put together.

Cons

Even though the interface is user friendly, there's still a bit of a learning curve especially for anyone completely new to website design or site building. Some of the tools and features take a while to fully understand so it does require spending some time getting familiar with how everything works.

Decent for quick website building

Pros

Squarespace has a very user friendly interface that makes creating and customizing a website easy even without any coding knowledge.

Cons

Whenever a project needs very specific design details or custom functionality, the template-based setup can feel a bit limiting.

Everything about it is easy

Pros

It was easy to set up and launch everything as the website was easy to use and adding more pages afterward was just as simple.

Cons

One downside is that moving from version 7.1 to 7.2 isn't a simple update process.

Gives needed freedom

Pros

Getting a site up and running with this tool is very easy. Anyone who can drag and drop or point and click can build and manage their own website without much trouble.

Cons

The customization options felt a bit limited, although that really wasn't a major issue for what I needed.

Comes with built in features

Pros

Squarespace comes with pretty much all the web design features and integrations already built in and the support for third-party scripting opens the door to countless additional possibilities.

Cons

At times the drag and drop editor gets a little wonky and doesn't always behave the way you want or expect.

Packed with templates

Pros

Among all the website builders I have used, Squarespace has been the most user friendly. It's incredibly simple to work with and I regularly recommend it to clients who aren't very confident managing their own websites.

Cons

It's definitely more expensive than a lot of other website design options but the usability and the built-in, polished designs make it worth the cost. It's honestly very hard to mess up with it.

Pros

Building and customizing sites with Squarespace is really easy and I love how much control it gives me over the design.

Offer good support

Pros

Coming into Squarespace with zero website-building experience, I was still able to get a site up and running thanks to the available templates. They were easy to work with and even after five years, the website remained functional and performed well, though I eventually needed to redesign it. Another big plus was the customer service team which was always quick to respond whenever I had questions.

Cons

One limitation I ran into was with the shop feature on my plan. It didn't give me any flexibility to change the appearance of the store so I ended up moving to another platform for that.

Pretty clean, simple setup

Pros

Getting started with Squarespace was quick and moving around the platform is very easy too. I also like that core essentials like security are already built into every template so those basics are handled for you from the start.

Cons

One thing it's missing is a way to build a sales funnel. I'd also love to see more customization choices for the title bar and banner image that work across all templates.

Overall a good tool

Pros

Squarespace is really easy to use. Plus it's very simple to move things around, update elements and still have a template there to guide the overall design. That balance of flexibility and structure is what makes it so appealing to me, I mean simplicity at its best.

Cons

The only limitation for me is when I need to go beyond the built-in options. I am not very familiar with the more technical side so if I want to change something that requires coding like a menu font or color that comes predefined in the template I wouldn't know where to begin.

Very nicely designed

Pros

Building web pages with Squarespace is very doable, even without any previous experience. It works really well as a basic website builder for small to mid-sized businesses, portfolios, blogs and similar projects. The templates look professional, attractive and thoughtfully designed.

Cons

A few of the customization features feel somewhat limited and the editing experience can be a bit confusing at times. Even with that, it's still an excellent option for building a website.
