perfect for getting started

Pros

Squarespace is very user friendly. As it is super simple to use and works really well for beginners.

Cons

Customization can feel a bit restricted depending on the template and there's almost no real hard-coding flexibility for deeper custom changes.

improved website builder

Pros

After working with Squarespace years ago, I had pretty much written it off and never expected to use it again especially since I design sites in WordPress. Then a recent client came to me with an existing Squarespace site and wanted a redesign without switching platforms. I was pleasantly surprised by how much the product has improved over time. It feels much more user friendly now and is quite simple to work with.

Cons

My biggest hesitation with this tool and really with any proprietary site builder, is the lack of flexibility when it comes to ownership and portability. You're essentially tied to that company's platform, unlike WordPress where a site can be moved from one hosting provider to another much more freely.

pleasant website builder experience

Pros

Getting started with Squarespace doesn't take much effort at all. A little basic knowledge is enough which makes it a really good fit for people who aren't familiar with this kind of software. It is overall enjoyable to use.

Cons

At the beginning, the integration part was a bit confusing especially because I have poor eyesight and wasn't able to adjust the text size. Having that option would be very helpful.

user friendly interface

Pros

Squarespace is very easy to use. The interface is user friendly so even people who are new to website design can use it without much trouble. Its drag and drop tools and ready-made templates make the whole website creation process much simpler.

Cons

The customization can feel somewhat restricted. Even though it offers a range of templates and personalization options some users may still see it as less flexible than more advanced platforms or self-hosted websites. If you need very specific design control, that can be a downside.

So many website design options

Pros

Building a site with Squarespace lets you design it pretty much any way you want and it doesn't feel limiting at all. Compared with similar apps, it is on the expensive side though.

Cons

A bit more customer support would really help especially for someone new to making websites. Even a few extra tips and tricks would make the process better.

Perfect templates for portfolios

Pros

It is easy to build beautiful templates with Squarespace and putting together online portfolios for my work is very easy too.

Cons

I think the metrics are a bit lacking and could provide more information.

beautiful templates and personal touch

Pros

Setting up my website with the templates felt fairly easy and I could add my own photos to make the whole site look unique and true to my brand.

Cons

That same simplicity during setup also turned into a limitation. Since I have a lot of products and categories, the pre-made templates didn't offer all the options I needed.

Responsive support team

Pros

Whenever I have needed help, Squarespace's support has been outstanding. The live chat and quick email replies make the whole experience feel very well supported. Building pages is also pleasantly simple especially when putting together a dynamic layout with different components like social media integrations and photo galleries. The templates alone have saved me a lot of time, effort and money and the platform is user friendly and thoughtfully designed for someone without much design background or coding knowledge.

Cons

One limitation for us is the events section since we often manage more than thirty events at a time. Because of that, we ended up creating a shortened calendar version underneath the main one to highlight the most important events in a more appealing way since the default calendar display is not very attractive visually. It would be much better to have more calendar display options, along with raising the maximum number of featured or closing components shown beyond the current limit of 30.

excellent usability for everyone

Pros

Squarespace is really excellent when it comes to usability and both users and programmers can handle it well without much trouble.

Cons

There really aren't any notable negatives that would outweigh the positives especially when it comes to how simple it is to work with.

simple drag and drop website builder

Pros

Building a website with Squarespace is really easy. If you need a site that doesn't have to be overly detailed or highly technical and you don't have much background in website creation or coding, it's definitely worth trying. The whole process feels as simple as dragging and dropping pieces into place.

Cons

The functionality is somewhat limited although that's part of the trade-off with a drag and drop builder. Still, it works well enough for basic, everyday websites.

beautiful sites with seo control

Pros

Compared with other CMS platforms, Squarespace felt like one of the quickest ways to build a professional, attractive website. I was using it before all the newer AI tools came along and it still let me put together something that looked really good in a short amount of time while keeping a good amount of control over SEO.

Cons

The pricing does feel a bit high and it doesn't seem to give users enough time on a lower-cost plan before jumping to full price. If your budget is tight, it's worth going in with a clear plan to monetize the site and start bringing in traffic right away.

polished design

Pros

Using Squarespace has been pretty easy and the design quality really stands out especially for photography focused sites. The latest update also added much more flexibility for customizing templates which is a big improvement.

Cons

One limitation is that multilingual support still isn't included in its plans so the only option is relying on third-party services. The new style editor also is fairly confusing and there's still plenty of room for improvement when it comes to having more freedom to customize elements and fields without needing help from specialists.

flexible drag and drop editing

Pros

Being able to drag and drop elements is simply amazing and updating or editing a page when changes are needed is very easy too.

The interface can still feel a little confusing and not always very responsive although it has improved since the new engine was introduced.

templates for sites

Pros

Squarespace made it easy to build a site especially with the range of web-optimized templates available for both mobile and desktop responsive versions. Also it makes blogging and content management very easy.

Cons

It could be more SEO-friendly, particularly for larger content-heavy sites where multiple products need to be displayed and promoted.

useful bundle

Pros

One of the biggest reasons I am drawn to Squarespace is how simple it is to use, along with the really helpful customer support and the added benefit of having Google Workspace included. If you're a new organization and expect you'll need extra help with the platform at some point, I'd pick Squarespace for the customer service alone.

Cons

My two downsides are that you cannot include the email campaign feature in the monthly payment plan. When you're a new organization trying to stay on budget, getting charged extra for essential services feels a bit like a cash grab. Also there's no built-in stock photo library. You can always find stock images online, of course but it would be much more convenient to have cleared images available as part of the subscription.

Proven beneficial

Pros

To me the standout benefit is how modern the web design looks. Sites built with Squarespace simply look more attractive and refined than ones made with other website builders.

Cons

The weakest part is the shipping platform which feels far behind and underdeveloped compared to the rest of the product.

flexible DNS and clear menus

Pros

The menu interface is very user friendly and I really like the flexibility to adjust our DNS settings so we can connect different ordering sites without much hassle.

Cons

There are plenty of tools available but a lot of them require extra payment. That would feel more worthwhile if the marketing features included more free options.

Pros

It was easy to set up everything and run and keeping the site maintained has been simple too. Also there are plenty of page options to work with and setting up the store was also very manageable.
