stylish templates with drag and drop

Pros

Squarespace gives us plenty of template options and we can customize them to fit exactly what we need. There's no need to write HTML or CSS to design the website since the drag and drop builder makes the whole process much more convenient.

Cons

The paid plans are a bit expensive and every now and then the design preview feature doesn't function the way it should.

sleek templates and useful analytics

Pros

Building my first website with Squarespace felt very approachable and the process was simple to follow. The templates are really attractive and give the site a professional, modern appearance. SEO takes a bit of effort to understand but it's still manageable. I also like having analytics included.

Cons

What I don't appreciate is the price increase while the product has stayed the same and hasn't come with any noticeable improvements.

Stylish themes are fav

Pros

One of the first things that drew me to this website builder was its clean, elegant themes. The drag and drop editor also seems very user friendly and simple to use.

Cons

The downside is that the customization options have always felt pretty limited. You're basically stuck working within the boundaries of the template.

templates that make site building shine

Pros

Squarespace offers a huge variety of templates which is something I really appreciate. If you're not very tech-savvy, there's also plenty of helpful guidance and learning material that walks you through what to do.

Cons

Because there are so many features available, it can feel a bit overwhelming at times.

perfect for quick websites

Pros

When the goal is to launch a site quickly with a preset template and fairly fixed content, Squarespace really fits the job. We used it at a time when our website didn't have much content and didn't require frequent updates and in that setup it worked out perfectly for us.

Cons

Things changed once our site became more advanced especially when we started adding elements like 3D assets. At that point it no longer felt like the best option. It does offer HTML code blocks but working with the editing side of that isn't very convenient. We eventually found other tools that matched our needs better by blending design and code in a very different way.

polished sites without much experience

Pros

Even without a lot of experience, you can put together a really nice-looking website with Squarespace. I am impressed by how good some client websites look when they've built them themselves using this platform.

Cons

At the same time, it starts to feel a little restrictive as you grow especially when it comes to available features and the SEO tools.

reliable builder with stylish themes

Pros

Squarespace feels dependable and capable. There are plenty of guides available and the support team is consistently helpful when needed. Whether it's for running a blog or creating a more premium-looking website, it handles both really well. There's also a wide selection of themes to pick from.

Cons

When you compare it with other platforms, the pricing is on the higher side. It also takes a while to learn properly and the navigation can feel a bit confusing at times.

beginner friendly editor and publishing

Pros

Right from the start the website editor seems very amazing and truly WYSIWYG. The blogging and publishing tools are also really good and the whole platform is simple enough to use even if you're just getting started.

Cons

One thing that seems a bit awkward is that the newsletter and email automation features are only available as an add-on so building sales funnels with automations can be somewhat difficult. It also doesn't include a member area for returning customers.

Very little effort is needed to use

Pros

Getting a site live with Squarespace takes very little effort. The templates make it possible to launch quickly and there's no need to know any code to get started. It also performs reliably across both mobile and desktop which has been a big plus.

Cons

One frustrating limitation is the lack of control over review requests. They go out automatically as soon as products are shipped, even though customers may not receive their order for another 2-4 weeks. During that waiting period some customers get annoyed and since the review request is the last message they've seen, they sometimes leave negative feedback. By the time they're actually happy with the product, that original request is often outdated or already deleted. Since there's no option to resend it, satisfied customers often never leave the positive reviews they would have given.

budget-friendly site setup

Pros

Squarespace is a good option if you want to build your own website without spending a lot. They handle hosting and domains themselves so the process is simple as you just pick a template and customize it. If you already have a website or bought a domain from a third‑party provider like GoDaddy, you can still use this tool but you'll need to handle the mapping and setup yourself. I would not recommend that route unless you really have to.

Cons

One frustrating part is that a lot of the work still has to be done manually which is fine to a point because that's expected with website setup. Still, even after filling the site with metatags, photo tags and similar SEO details, the pages can end up buried around the fifth page of Google results for the keywords you targeted, unless those words are part of your domain name. That's something they really need to improve.
