“Help build sites without coding”

Pros

After working on several websites with Squarespace, I have been able to create professional, attractive pages that are simple for visitors to navigate. I am not a developer but once I got familiar with the platform, the tools became very manageable to use.

Cons

It does take some time to really get comfortable with the platform so there's definitely a learning curve. Still, it was much easier for me to pick up than WordPress.

Pros

Putting a website together is really easy with the drag and drop blocks so adding the sections I needed was simple and quick.

Cons

Connecting it with an older website was a challenge and took more effort than I expected.

Using this program worked well for making sales, buying items and connecting with other business owners.

Cons

A serious issue came up when someone hacked our financial information and used it to make a couple of purchases, totaling about $500. Thankfully, the money was refunded but after that happened, we chose to stop using it. If you sign up for it, be very careful.

Pros

As a website builder for small businesses and creative work, Squarespace has been my top pick. Getting a site up and running is easy and customizing it to match my branding and voice is very manageable. It works especially well for solo users who want to build a portfolio or a website to showcase their work and promote their services.

Cons

Even though it has been my preferred platform as a creative professional, the e-commerce features and support still feel limited. Basic shop needs, like adding product filtering on a store page, often require extra plug-ins or homemade workarounds that create more maintenance over time. Its commerce tools can work fine for stores with only one or a few product categories but once the catalog grows and products need to be organized across multiple categories, it becomes much more difficult for customers to browse and find what they're looking for.

Pros

Running my photography website on Squarespace for a year was a really positive experience. The platform felt very simple and user friendly to work with. If you don't know much about web design, it's an excellent option.

Cons

The templates look nice but they felt a bit too restrictive. I couldn't customize them as much as I needed. For one project I wanted a specific kind of display and it just couldn't support it. That was the only reason I ended up moving to a different provider.

Getting a site up and running with Squarespace has been really easy. The platform is simple to use, customer support has been very helpful and the templates look professional too. Updating content or adding new pages is quick and user friendly and the range of features gives it a lot of flexibility.

Cons

I have not run into any issues with it.

Building my own website with Squarespace ended up being a big project and it probably took around 100 hours before I really understood how to use it. Along the way, I taught myself through Squarespace's own videos and a lot of YouTube tutorials. Once everything finally clicked, I was able to be creative with it which is where plenty of those hours went and put the site together on my own.

Cons

Getting started felt overwhelming because there was a lot to learn and it took plenty of trial and error before I felt confident using it. I expected it to be a little more beginner friendly than it actually was. Anyone who isn't very comfortable with technology would probably have a hard time with this software. Luckily, I was persistent and already had some background in the digital space.

It is very easy to use. The templates do most of the heavy lifting and can take you about 90% of the way, then you can customize and fine-tune everything else to match what you want.

Cons

Some parts of the platform are difficult to make work beyond the specific purpose they were originally designed for.

Putting together a professional, modern website with Squarespace doesn't take all that long especially considering everything involved. The site is responsive and pages load quickly which has been a big plus.

There was definitely a bit of a learning curve when it came to editing the site and figuring out the blog navigation. It didn't feel very user friendly at the beginning. Still, after going through it a few times, I got comfortable with it and it really doesn't bother me now. I am also not excited about the recent price increase but it's still cheaper than paying a team to build and host something for us.

Building websites with this tool has been a really good experience especially because it lets you create complete sites quickly. It comes with plenty of templates which makes managing content much faster and more efficient and the interface is responsive enough that getting used to it feels natural and hassle-free.

Cons

There really is not much to complain about here since it is a simple tool to understand. From signing up to managing a website, the whole process feels reliable and fast.

The templates in Squarespace give my website a dependable, consistent look that is really professional. Connecting it with the other software I use was easy and the webinars and articles were genuinely helpful for learning some of the platform's key features.

Cons

After the latest update, I am very satisfied. The only issue I had before was that customizing the design could be a bit difficult but that upgrade took care of it nicely.

ITs drag and drop setup works well especially for small business owners who cannot afford to hire a web designer or developer. It doesn't require any design or coding knowledge and having built-in email marketing plus membership account features is definitely useful.

Cons

The back-end code feels heavy which leads to slower loading speeds. There are also quite a few restrictions when it comes to more advanced design work, along with limited animations and triggers. On the ecommerce side, it still falls short on some basic functionality.

It was very simple. The templates look excellent and changing colors and layouts is easy too.

Every now and then, it didn't save correctly which caused me to lose some of my progress.

Squarespace works well for beginners who want to create a website without having any web development background. It comes with a large selection of mobile-friendly templates so you can pick from 100+ designs and start building your site using the beginner friendly website builder. Selling products through Squarespace is also convenient and the dashboard makes it simple to keep track of orders. There's also a financial dashboard for monitoring your earnings. If any questions come up while using it, customer support is available whenever you need help.

Cons

One downside is that it sites are not very strong when it comes to search engine optimization which can make it harder to get ranked on the first page of Google. It also supports only a limited number of software and service integrations. On top of that moving your site from Squarespace to another website-building platform can be fairly difficult.

“Reasonable price!”

Pros

Clean, minimal and elegant templates were a big reason I chose Squarespace for both my art portfolio and illustration website. The layout options are good and make sense and I was able to put the whole site together on my own pretty quickly through the interface. It has also been fairly simple to discover extra customization options whenever I want to tweak the site further. The pricing is reasonable for what's included and I also like being able to switch plans when my website needs change.

Cons

One thing that has been frustrating is that whenever I have wanted to pause or temporarily take my website offline, it seems like doing that would mean deleting the entire site. From what I can tell, I'd have to rebuild everything from scratch if I paused it. I really wish there were a way to put the site on hold and pay a reduced rate without losing the whole website.

Pros

Being able to take Squarespace's portable POS with me when I am at a client's house is really convenient and it's simple to use.

Cons

I have to keep checking that it's updated because if it isn't, the update can take a while right when a client is ready to pay.

Pros

Working in Squarespace has been really enjoyable from both a designer and developer perspective. The platform has a clean, minimalist look that makes the whole experience pleasant, the navigation is easy and the editor tool is very user friendly. Their newer Fluid Engine update makes creating more distinctive layouts much simpler than before. I also have fun experimenting with code blocks through the custom code feature and it's especially nice that CSS updates appear live while you type. Another big plus is its forum community, where there are plenty of helpful people ready to answer questions. Client handoff is also very convenient since once the site is done, clients can take over and manage updates on their own without needing any web development background.

Cons

That simplicity does come with some trade-offs though and certain features can feel restrictive. Email Marketing is probably the weakest point for me. Paying extra for it doesn't feel justified when other platforms include many of the same capabilities at no cost. The options for selling digital products are fairly limited as well. You can add more functionality through third-party plugins and extensions but relying on too many of them can start to feel overwhelming. More advanced custom design work can also be tricky since targeting specific elements often takes extra tools and a lot of persistence.
