secure and user friendly website builder

Pros

Getting a site up and running with Squarespace is very easy and the platform is user‑friendly. More importantly, it handles security behind the scenes so you don't have to worry about cyber threats. That matters a lot for startups and small businesses that cannot afford dedicated tech teams to maintain and monitor their websites.

Cons

I do wish there were more templates available to choose from but overall it's still an excellent product at a very reasonable price.

website builder that saves time

Pros

For self-employed people running their own business, Squarespace is like a simple way to get a new website online. With WordPress, you still need to deal with hosting, pick a template and handle the setup, while it lets you skip all of that technical hosting stuff and jump right into the website builder with a template that fits your business. There's also a 14 day trial which gives you enough time to build out your site and see how it looks. If it works for you, you can then choose the pricing plan you need, whether that's with or without an online store and keep everything in one place.

Cons

Once you want to go beyond the standard template options and really customize the design or smaller details, it gets a bit trickier. At that point you usually end up posting in its forums for help. Most of the time the replies come pretty quickly but every now and then it turns into some trial and error before you can get the template changes working exactly the way you want.

simple website upkeep

Pros

After I got the hang of a few things especially since I am not very tech savvy, updating and maintaining my website has been pretty easy with Squarespace.

Cons

It would be even better if the platform felt a bit more user friendly.

versatile platform with strong visual appeal

Pros

Squarespace has been a really amazing all around platform to use. It's user friendly and the ability to upload videos is especially important, particularly here in Africa where customers tend to respond more to visual content than just written or spoken messaging.

Cons

The only thing that stands out to me is that it needs much stronger marketing in Africa. I personally have access to buyers across state universities in the country and would be very interested in helping promote it. It simply isn't marketed well here and I believe the company could triple its revenue with better outreach especially through face to face demonstration marketing.

user friendly setup and features

Pros

Running our small organization on this software has been a really positive experience. It's easy to use, the available features have been more than enough for what we need and getting everything up and running was simple from the start. I have been very happy with how well it works overall.

Cons

At this point I don't have any complaints. I have really loved using it.

simply the best choice

Pros

it's the best option out there, hands down. There are no surprise overcharges and no monthly fees which I absolutely love.

Cons

I really cannot point to any downside. To me, it's just the best and using Square lets you keep more of your money.

simple workflow, boxed-in design

Pros

Handling everything is very easy, both when getting things set up and when managing the work over time.

Cons

The design side doesn't offer much flexibility. The more structured, boxy layout works well for basic websites like blogs and similar pages but it falls short when you want to be more creative or build something dynamic.

affordable platform with versatile templates

Pros

The pricing is budget-friendly and it comes with a wide range of ready-made templates. Squarespace works well for both eCommerce and regular websites and having support for custom CSS is definitely a plus.

Cons

There are a few prebuilt layouts available but they fall short in terms of design quality. The customization options could also be better.

professional templates and strong analytics

Pros

Squarespace made building a website very manageable, even without any programming background. I used it for one of my initiatives and the interface made the whole process simple. The templates look reliable and deliver a professional user experience. The color palettes are excellent too. You can customize things based on your needs though some options are locked behind a more expensive plan. Setting up SEO was easy and the analytics were especially impressive. We relied heavily on them to monitor traffic and understand where visitors came from. The image library is good Overall even if it sometimes feels limited and some marketplace integrations turned out to be very useful.

Cons

Pricing was quite high especially if you need the professional tier. The user community is still fairly small so when you run into an issue and need advice, getting help can take a while. Support also wasn't that satisfying because instead of actually walking you through a solution, they often just redirect you to a wiki article. SEO features still feel somewhat limited and the platform could do more when it comes to automatically optimizing a site for search engines. On top of that the platform can be slow at times and seems to consume a lot of CPU.

flexible customization for diy sites

Pros

It is very customizable and it was simple enough to handle on my own for a DIY setup. Another thing I really appreciated was being able to give my VA access without having to share my personal login details.

Cons

What bothered me was that so many features came as extra add-ons. I ended up getting charged three times in a month and I would have much preferred a single one-time payment.

simple, reliable website builder

Pros

Everything about it is good and it works consistently every time I use it. That reliability is a big reason I keep coming back to it.

Cons

I really don't have any major complaints though I do have a slight concern about security since that's something I think about with any platform like this.

Useful tutorials available

Pros

Getting started with Squarespace felt very manageable because it comes with lots of tutorials and plenty of built-in customization tools. I really appreciate how user friendly it is overall.

Cons

It did take a little time to get used to since it wasn't completely user friendly at first so there was a small learning curve. Once I understood how it worked though, using it became much simpler.

helpful guidance with tons of options

Pros

The guided, step by step support for building a website is really helpful. After spending a little time exploring the features, there are plenty of options available to create a professional, impressive site.

Cons

It would be better if there were an option to start from a completely blank site instead of having to choose a template first.

feature rich tool

Pros

Getting started was a little confusing but I picked it up pretty quickly. It's an incredible platform with tons of features you'd expect to have and if something's missing, you can code in what you need. The support team was also really kind and helpful.

Cons

At first, it almost felt too good to be true because I assumed something this capable had to be free but it isn't. You have to pay even just to publish your site privately and preview how it looks live. I can understand why, considering how many strong features it offers but having some kind of free version would be really nice. I was hoping it would be a cheaper website alternative to what I currently use but I ended up staying with my usual option. It's personally out of my budget Right now though that shouldn't automatically discourage someone else from trying it.

stylish templates for fast launch

Pros

There's a good selection of starter templates which makes it quick to get a website off the ground. The designs seem modern and already work well on mobile and getting started is easy especially if you're building a fairly simple static site.

Cons

At the same time some basic template customizations can be frustrating to pull off. Things like adding a column or adjusting spacing take more effort than they should and image sizing isn't always very user friendly either.

stunning templates for photographers

Pros

Building my photography website with this platform has been an awesome experience. The templates look stunning and are well optimized for desktop, tablet and mobile which makes the site look professional on every device. It has also helped my business grow thanks to its strong marketing tools especially email and social media features. Out of the builders I have tested this has been one of the most helpful and responsive options.

Cons

There are a few downsides though especially the pricing and the limited room for customization. You're restricted to adjusting rows only within the columns of the template you choose which can feel limiting. Editing the template takes some effort as well. Another frustrating part is that the website builder doesn't save changes automatically which feels a bit stressful.
