professional and contemporary website tools

Pros

Building and updating my site with Squarespace has been simple to customize, add products to and keep looking professional. It covers everything I need for a small artist website and after using it for years, it still feels current because Squarespace continues to keep up with new features and modern trends.

Cons

My only real complaint has been getting help when something goes wrong. Reaching customer service can be frustrating and I have usually had to go through several steps before being able to email support. That said it's been a while since I last ran into an issue so I cannot really comment on how that experience may be now.

reliable backup for sales

Pros

Whenever our POS system goes down, we still have a dependable way to process sales.

Cons

There's really not much about this program that I dislike.

Able to set it up with ease

Pros

Building a website with Squarespace is really easy thanks to the customizable templates, fonts and page layouts. It also makes keeping up with a blog very manageable and the finished look comes across professional and attractive.

Cons

One thing I wish had more flexibility is the sidebar customization. On my podcast page, for instance, I'd rather show two or three previous podcast episodes there instead of recent blog posts but right now the sidebar only works for the blog.

Pretty time-saving grids

Pros

The grid based design setup saves me a lot of time and the website editor seems incredibly user friendly. Overall it is simple enough that even a ten year old could figure it out.

Cons

One thing that really frustrates me is that the desktop layout cannot be adjusted separately from the mobile version which Wix does allow. And while the grid system definitely helps speed things up, that convenience also comes with a noticeable loss of functionality.

Getting started with Squarespace is very simple and keeping it running is pretty manageable. The templates are also really attractive and professional.

beautiful website designs

Pros

Squarespace is absolutely one of the best tools for website design. The templates and overall design style are really beautiful.

Cons

One thing I remember is wanting to make a few changes to my site and feeling somewhat restricted by the template I had chosen. That may have changed by now though.

built for non-tech users

Pros

It really is like Squarespace was designed with users like us in mind. Even without much of a technical background, it was very easy to understand and use.

Cons

At times it can present a few too many features or options all at once which feels a little overwhelming.

templates and booking integration win

Pros

The tool is pretty simple. The templates gave me a good foundation and swapping in my own content, photos and theme choices was easy. I got the whole site live within a day. I also really liked how well it integrated with my booking platform. There are also plenty of e‑commerce features if I want to grow the site further.

Cons

I did run into a few formatting hiccups and figuring out the buttons and linking took some trial and error. It wasn't anything too difficult to solve but it definitely added a little extra time before everything was fully set up and working the way I wanted.

Like the user friendly updates

Pros

Getting around the software is pretty easy and it doesn't take much effort to use. We can handle small edits and updates fast which makes day to day website changes really convenient.

Cons

Every now and then, we run into features we wish were available, even as optional add-ons but they just don't seem to exist. We use the store feature for our virtual gallery which started during COVID so visitors can buy items directly from the site. The issue is that some pieces aren't actually for sale and if we set the inventory to zero, the item gets tagged with a red Sold Out banner on the image. We'd really love a workaround for that.

Pretty easy to manage

Pros

Building a website with Squarespace is very manageable, even without being an IT expert. The platform is simple to navigate, the templates are simple to understand and it works especially well if you need an online store. Mobile compatibility is a big plus and the ad-free plans make the final site look much more professional.

Cons

The biggest weak point is page speed. If they improve performance in that area, it would be even more competitive.

strong features for content setup

Pros

Squarespace comes with plenty of really useful features, including the ability to add basic author profiles and access free stock images.

Cons

One thing I couldn't figure out was how to add tags or categories. There's also no option to schedule email campaigns around the publication of blog posts.

fast launch with ssl perks

Pros

The ready-made templates helped us get the site live in no time. Since we use Squarespace for both the domain and hosting, we also got a free SSL certificate which is a nice bonus for SEO with Google's latest updates.

Cons

Tweaking the templates can get a bit complicated at times. Most changes beyond the built-in layout are still possible but you may need to dig through the forums to find the right code to add. It's usually not hard to do, it just takes some extra time.

stylish templates at a fair price

Pros

Building a professional looking basic website with Squarespace is very user friendly. It's simple to add your own custom touches to the ready-made templates and the overall value for the price is very reasonable.

Cons

That said the templates do have customization limits and making more than minor changes isn't very easy. Another downside is the lack of phone-based customer support so you cannot talk through problems with someone directly.

clean editing and all in one setup

Pros

Designing a website feels very manageable with the page editor, even without knowing any code. I was also able to take advantage of the free images available through the Unsplash integration. Another big plus is having my domain and hosting details all in one place. I used to keep everything separate and having it centralized makes the whole process much more convenient.

Cons

One downside is that many of the templates seem geared toward businesses that depend heavily on strong visuals and image-based appeal. Since my translation business does not have product photos to showcase, it was difficult to find a template that really fit and I ended up needing to customize quite a bit.

beautiful portfolios with strong analytics

Pros

After trying different options, I am convinced Squarespace is the best choice for a portfolio site unless you're hiring a designer and spending much more for something only slightly better. It's easy to customize, the templates showcase portfolio pieces beautifully and the overall look makes my work feel more professional. I have spent a lot of time on my site over the past nine years and I usually switch themes every 3 to 4 years which takes a few days to get just right. Outside of those bigger updates, regular maintenance is very simple. Customer support has been excellent the whole time. It does cost more than some alternatives but I am fine paying for how much it improves my work and how easy it is to maintain. The analytics are another big plus. They let me track site performance and checking that from the app while I am out is especially useful.

Cons

If you're very particular about design details, there are definitely some limitations because the templates can only stretch so far beyond what they were originally built to do. Even small adjustments, like changing margins, aren't always as user friendly as they should be. The style editor includes a lot of tools but it still doesn't handle every scenario. I have ended up adding code in cases where I really feel the customization should already exist, like making an image full bleed when the template doesn't support it natively. That said this is mostly an issue for a small group of very detail-focused users like me. For the average person, the built-in templates go far beyond what you'd normally expect. I have also run into times when browsers struggle with the editor and it freezes or crashes although that has improved dramatically over the last five years and I'd love to see it keep getting better. Overall there are things I wish were stronger but it's hard to complain too much when nothing else at a similar price point really matches the combination of appearance and functionality.

professional sites in no time

Pros

Getting an online presence off the ground is a lot less intimidating with Squarespace. It's an all in one platform for building a polished website, online store or portfolio without having to piece everything together from scratch and it's very possible to have a site live in under an hour. There's a wide range of designs and options so it's not hard to find a style that fits. It also works well for eCommerce and portfolio sites. The setup and editing process is especially well organized which made the whole thing feel almost effortless. On top of that there are plenty of free templates that already look professional so even without much time or creative energy, you can still launch something attractive very quickly.

Cons

It works really well for both small and growing businesses and it comes with a decent collection of free tools for building an impressive website or online store. The parts I appreciated most were the freedom to create my own design, the advanced SEO capabilities and especially the excellent customer support. If there's one downside, it's that the platform may not be the best fit for very large companies that need highly customized or more advanced features than what's currently available.
