Getting information into this software is very easy because the interface is user friendly and doesn't leave you second-guessing what to do next.

Cons

I have not noticed that this software is missing much of anything.

Even without any background in website building, Squarespace makes it possible to put together a polished, professional looking site in very little time.

Cons

The pricing can feel pretty steep for individuals compared with other platforms. Every now and then, you also hit customization limits where the site cannot be adjusted as dynamically as you'd want.

Pros

There's a really wide selection of templates so once you enter what your business is about, there's usually something that fits your style. On top of that it comes with plenty of other features too, from font options to editing tools. Definitely worth checking out.

Cons

The only thing I'd add is even more templates although what's already available is a good start.

Building a professional looking website doesn't require advanced design skills with Squarespace. The platform feels polished and works especially well for ecommerce. The templates are modern and there are plenty of customization options to shape the site the way you want. Having website building, hosting, product sales and analytics all in one place makes managing everything much more convenient. It's also dependable in terms of reliability and performance.

Cons

There is definitely a bit of a learning curve at the beginning and the pricing tends to be higher compared to some other options.

Everything about it is good overall and it includes a lot of the features a business typically needs.

Cons

Designing a website with it can feel both simple and challenging at the same time. Its design tools also don't feel as user friendly as Wix's.

Pros

Putting a site together in Squarespace is very easy. I can make changes, edits or add new content in just a few minutes. It gives plenty of customization options, lets me check that the mobile version looks right and includes the features needed to build a business website. You don't need much prior experience to get started although some of the more advanced tools do take a little time to learn.

Cons

One thing I'd still want is more email integration options beyond Mailchimp. I'd also really like some added features especially calendar integrations, without having to pay extra for them.

“budget-friendly for solo sites”

Pros

Back when I was starting out, I got to work with Squarespace and it felt clear that it is not meant for every situation. It works really well for a solo entrepreneur on a very tight budget who needs a website up quickly and does not have time to build one from scratch. But if you are running a more established business or you have the money to bring in a professional, I would not choose Squarespace because it feels too limited.

Cons

The biggest downside is how restricted it is. The platform comes with prebuilt templates and there is very little room to customize them beyond what is already provided. Most of the design decisions are made for you ahead of time. If someone just needs to get a site online fast and does not want to spend time on it, it can handle that. For anyone wanting more freedom though, Wix, EditorX or Webflow would be better options.

Pros

Right away Squarespace stands out for its eye-catching templates that can make a website look really polished. When you're deciding where to begin, they also provide a wide range of sample sites which helps you picture how your own site could compare in terms of features and functionality. Another plus is having multiple options for eCommerce along with ways to connect your social platforms although I still have not fully explored everything there yet.

Cons

From a designer's perspective, the platform does have some layout and functionality limits and that can get frustrating. At times it's hard to create exactly what I have in mind using only the tools and widgets that come with the template.

It is genuinely simple to use. A lot of great website building practices are handled automatically like image optimization, mobile-responsive templates and ADA friendly features. A few years back, the biggest knock against drag and drop builders was usually performance since those sites often loaded slowly. That really doesn't seem to be true anymore. Every Squarespace site I have built has stayed well within Google PageSpeed benchmarks and the image compression keeps load times down without hurting visual quality.

Cons

Well it can be tricky if you fall on either end of the technical spectrum. If you've never built a website before, there's still a learning curve. Their marketing can make it seem like anyone can throw together a site effortlessly but it's not quite that foolproof. On the flip side, if you're more experienced with web development and coding, the platform may feel too limited. You cannot get into a page's source code, block types aren't editable and the design controls are somewhat restricted.

Pros

Speed is one of the first things you notice as the servers are fast and pages load almost instantly. Responsiveness is another strong point because whether the site is viewed on desktop or mobile, it always displays properly thanks to the ready-made templates that are fully responsive. The overall package is also very complete. The basic plan at EUR11/month is already excellent for anyone who is not comfortable with HTML/CSS or simply does not want to deal with installing WordPress or building a site from scratch by working in the back end. The higher plan at EUR17/month is especially worthwhile since it includes a Google Workspace email which on its own would already cost more if separated from its base price, plus the ability to manage an e-commerce store. On top of that usability is a big advantage as everything is fully drag and drop and all the services connected to the site are easy to set up, even for someone with almost no technical knowledge.

Cons

The downside of this platform and of Wix and other all in one drag and drop builders, is the lock-in. If you build a site here, it stays here. You cannot export it and you cannot keep an offline backup. The only way to manage and keep editing it is through their proprietary interface so if one day you decide you no longer want to pay a fixed monthly subscription and would rather move the site and related services to dedicated hosting with a yearly one-time cost, maybe handled by a professional, you have to rebuild everything from scratch. That is really the key issue to think about when choosing at the start like dedicated/shared hosting or an all in one subscription platform?

Pros

Getting an account up and running is very simple and it performs really well for e-commerce and other types of transactions.

Cons

The fees are a bit higher compared to some other apps.

Pros

Squarespace gives me a lot of flexibility to customize things especially my emails. They end up feeling distinct and tailored to the people receiving them and I can make that happen without needing any graphic design experience.

Cons

Some people on my team do have a harder time finding their way around it although that feels like a pretty common challenge with website-building platforms in general.

Pros

Getting a static website up and running with Squarespace is pretty easy and it doesn't cost much. The pricing is clear and you can build a site without needing to write any code.

Cons

One downside is that the lack of animations can make the website feel a little too plain. It's also difficult to create something more visually dynamic because of the platform's static grid structure.

It's simple to work with, deposits hit my bank account quickly and being able to leave tips is a nice touch. The interface is clean and user friendly which makes everyday use much easier.

Cons

That said the later update is awful. It's October 13, 2021 and the way categories and items are mixed together now is a mess. It takes more time out of my day to delete categories and items because they just get in the way when I am only trying to charge a card for a custom amount. The latest update is distracting from the normal workflow in terms of design and it doesn't feel user friendly at all anymore. Menus are scattered across tabs and everything feels jumbled. Instead of quickly charging a card, I am wasting time trying to figure out where things are. There's an option to go back to the previous version but only for a limited time which makes that feature feel pointless. the update feels very poorly thought out.

There's a broad selection of artistic templates available which makes building a portfolio site feel much more tailored and visually appealing.

Cons

The pricing runs a bit higher than some other service providers so it can feel slightly expensive in comparison.

One of the standout things about Squarespace is how polished and elegant the page templates look. They give the site a very professional feel right away.

The pricing felt a little on the higher side but I have not run into any problems actually using it.

The platform gives websites a professional feel that I have not really seen with builders like GoDaddy or Wix. Editing text, images and paragraphs is also pretty easy once you know where everything is. I did need someone to walk me through it at first though because I couldn't fully figure it out on my own.

At the same time, it still felt pretty challenging as a beginner to learn how to build a website with it.

“Has strong tools”

Pros

Building a website with Squarespace is very easy. You really do not need any coding experience to get started with it. I was able to put together my eCommerce store in a relatively short amount of time. The templates are well-designed, practical and give you great options to choose from. It also comes with useful marketing features for running an online store, along with very strong analytics. Because of that, I would definitely recommend it to anyone searching for a website builder.

Cons

At times it can be a little slow and the font selection is fairly limited.

Squarespace made it easy to build a website, even if you don't know how to code. I have used it for 8 years on several different domains and it's remained user friendly and even enjoyable to work with. Best of all the finished sites look professional and impressive. More than once, customers have picked my services because of how professional my website looks and feels.

Cons

As the platform has grown and become more successful some perks that used to be free now cost extra. Features that were once part of the basic plan have been moved into premium upgrades.

Using it has not been a problem and the fact that I don't need any coding at all makes my work much easier.
