powerful website tools

Pros

Picking up Squarespace was quick and it comes with plenty of features to build exactly the kind of webpage we wanted. The SEO tools are also a big plus since they help get our site noticed and bring in new clients.

Cons

I have not run into any downsides. It really covers everything I need, feels very user friendly, has a manageable learning curve and includes lots of features that help promote a business.

adaptable and beginner friendly

Pros

Squarespace is very easy to use and it has been flexible enough to fit our nonprofit's needs well. Even without much experience in website maintenance someone can still make updates, edit pages and upload new content without much trouble.

Cons

Working with videos and getting them integrated has been a bit frustrating At times although that may be more due to user error than an actual problem with the platform.

stylish templates and online store

Pros

Its design quality is really delightful and there are plenty of components to customize the site the way I want. Squarespace also takes care of keeping the platform up to date with software refreshes which is a big plus. It works well on both mobile and desktop and having the ability to run an online store is very useful.

Cons

The options still feel somewhat limited. Editing pages can also be frustrating because everything has to be dragged into place and a lot of the time the other blocks shift around while I am making changes.

user friendly branding flexibility

Pros

The website feels very user friendly and it offers plenty of customization so you can really shape it to match your brand.

Cons

I just wish there were a few more layout editing options that didn't require jumping through hoops or dealing with back-end code.

Smooth collaboration across devices

Pros

Working in a fast changing information and ecommerce environment, having a platform that supports cross-sector communication really matters. I like how well Squarespace works from beginning to end and especially how quickly people can get up to speed when collaborating on access and content management. With remote work being such a big part of team building now, the consistent experience and convenient access across desktop and mobile have been a real plus.

Cons

The image library could definitely use some improvement. On first use it feels pretty hard and while the full functionality becomes clearer after some trial and error, it shouldn't take that much digging to figure out. It would be much better if the experience were more user friendly from the start. Right now it feels like something that needs a usability rethink so people can understand it immediately without having to do a deep dive.

beautiful and simple portfolio hub

Pros

Squarespace fits exactly what I need without making things complicated. I only use a handful of features but the ones I rely on are simple, polished and look beautiful. It works perfectly as my online artist resume and it also gives me a convenient way to handle occasional sales through the site.

Cons

My only complaint is with photo uploads. If my image files are too large, it takes a very long time for new artwork to upload to the website.

budget-friendly portfolio builder

Pros

When I need to put together portfolio sites for clients with tighter budgets, this platform helps me get them done quickly. I'd rather not turn away small businesses just because they cannot spend much so it saves me time while still delivering what they need.

Cons

The default templates and the way themes are managed aren't really my preference. On the eCommerce side, Shopify and WIX definitely do a better job when it comes to more user friendly integrations.

endless design possibilities

Pros

Building a site with Squarespace is fun, with so many options to work with while still being simple to use. Just about anyone can create the website they've been envisioning.

Cons

It does take a few practice runs in the beginning to get everything set up exactly right.

Great experience overall

Pros

Using Squarespace has been a very positive experience because it's simple to work with, is user friendly and is easy to implement. That combination makes it a really strong fit not only for our internal team's needs but also for the client projects we manage.

Cons

One downside is the pricing which can feel a bit high. There are lower-tier plans available to get started but a lot of businesses will probably outgrow those fairly quickly and need to move up to the next level which comes with noticeably higher monthly or annual costs.

helpful features for any skill level

Pros

This tool is easy to use and I'd recommend it to both beginners and professionals. The features are all useful and really help with the harder parts of building a website.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is making some features simpler. Also there are so many templates available that it can feel a bit overwhelming at times.

Liked the templates

Pros

Its templates look beautiful, the analytics are genuinely useful and the site gives me the professional online presence I needed. It does exactly what I want it to do and the e-commerce features work really well too.

Cons

The backend editor isn't the most user friendly part of the platform although I was still able to learn my way around it. I also wasn't a fan of the update they made to the backend editing so I chose to stick with the older version.

beautiful templates and dependable performance

Pros

One of the best parts of Squarespace is how polished the templates look and how reliable the platform is. It's very user friendly too so putting together a website that looks professional can be done pretty quickly.

Cons

The only improvement that comes to mind is being able to embed videos directly on your website instead of having to link them from a third-party platform like YouTube.

beautiful sites without coding

Pros

Squarespace's biggest strength is how it lets you build stunning websites even if you have little or no experience. There's no need to be an HTML expert to get excellent results but if you do know code, you can still make the most of everything the platform offers.

Cons

I cannot really point to a downside. For someone at that mid-level prosumer stage, I still have not come across a better alternative.

affordable and user friendly website builder

Pros

The user side of this software is user friendly, even without a technical background. There's plenty of information online about how to use specific tools and it's usually easy to find the help you need. On top of that the pricing is very affordable for a new business and most of the features you need are already included.

Cons

The dropdown navigation option on my site doesn't look very appealing so I have had to trim down the menu and fit more content onto each page which isn't really the ideal journey for customers.

Pros

Being able to create and manage online listings for my business's physical location right from my Squarespace site through Location Management is really convenient.

good for basic stores

Pros

Adding products to the store was the part I appreciated most since that process was very simple. that was pretty much the only thing I really liked about using it.

Cons

The downside is that it didn't integrate with the other software and programs I rely on for my business. It's not very flexible overall and really only feels suitable for simple businesses.

professional sites in minutes

Pros

After more than five years with Squarespace, I have used it for everything from putting together an MVP before moving on to fully custom websites to launching brand-new sites that look polished and professional in hardly any time. People are always impressed by how the websites turn out and they usually have no idea they only took minutes to build. The platform has kept adding more functionality over the years and their commitment to customer service has been excellent too, with fast responses whenever needed.

Cons

A few parts of moving objects around have not always felt as user friendly as they could be. When there's a huge amount of data on one screen, editing can sometimes be slower than expected. I have also run into a few very minor bugs on rare occasions. Really just nitpicks though it's a wonderful product overall.
