Cons

One drawback is that a lot of their templates really depend on high-quality photography to look their best. It can also be tougher for businesses to stand out when they're using a ready-made template.

It was easy to set up website online thanks to the step by step setup. I started my photography business after being laid off during the pandemic so I had to keep everything on a very tight budget. Squarespace helped me put together a professional online presence quickly and it's also been simple to keep the site updated as my business has grown and added new services.

Cons

There's a lot of capability in the platform and to really move up to the next stage with it, I'll need to learn more. Features like embedding, SEO and e-commerce are there but taking full advantage of them will require a better understanding on my part.

Squarespace has been a really user friendly platform for me. The features feel current and I appreciate how well it works with other apps alongside it. The scheduling tool has also been a big plus since I can use it for booking appointments. As a cosmetologist, that was a very important feature in my buying decision.

Cons

The part I liked least was the shipping section within the website features. It feels like it could be simpler or more automated especially when it comes to connecting shipping rates to product weight and dimensions. I did manage to get it sorted out in the end but setting up that part of my site was a headache.

At times I am not completely sure what every button does but that really just comes down to getting familiar with how the platform works over time. Other than that, I don't have any complaints because it's very simple to use.

I come from the old days of building websites from scratch in Dreamweaver and even putting together a custom, badly designed site on Angelfire that somehow still exists. I have seen how much website creation has changed. When WordPress arrived, it started shifting control toward editors so people didn't need CSS or HTML just to publish content. But these days WordPress has too much of a learning curve. Squarespace on the other hand is leading the way in usability and has one of the most visually appealing admin back ends. It's also incredibly simple to get started with and very affordable.

Cons

I used it to build two totally different websites, one personal site and one for another person's business and I didn't run into any downsides.

Squarespace focuses on a creative, artistic look and for the most part, it works. The templates are good and not very flexible which actually helps avoid the messy, outdated designs you often see on other platforms.

Cons

After using Weebly, WIX and Google Sites this platform felt less easy to navigate. The icons reminded me of old Flickr style symbols so I could eventually work things out but overall it felt much confusing than those other builders. I also had to keep battling the template settings and the end result was often not quite what I wanted. Another downside is that Weebly, WIX and Google Sites all offer free usage, while it does not.

Getting a professional looking website together is surprisingly simple and the pages look fantastic once they're live. Having the option to customize almost every part of the site is another big plus.

Cons

There's still room for improvement in a few areas especially with lists, controlling how many events appear in a specific list and customizing nested elements. It also lacks a way to build a page in two or more languages and the pricing could definitely be a bit lower.

Running our school website in-house has been very manageable with Squarespace. It's user friendly, reasonably priced and lets us build, update and adjust the site without needing outside help. The templates look clean and professional and they're customizable enough to give us the features we need for a strong, active web presence. The mobile app is also useful when we need to make quick changes while away from a computer. One feature that has been especially valuable is the ability to create forms and link them directly to Google Drive. That makes it simple to customize forms, share them quickly and keep track of responses. The analytics tools are another big plus since they give us helpful real-time data and insight into site traffic and usage.

Cons

There are a few built-in limits when it comes to customization which is fairly typical for a basic website builder. One example is video uploads as you cannot upload them directly unless they're already hosted on another service like YouTube or Vimeo.
