Daniel Espinoza here - the service has been dependable and the integration feels smooth. The app is user friendly and support has been excellent whenever I've needed anything. Setup and day-to-day use have stayed smooth and customer service has genuinely been on point.
Cons
No cons to report yet. Customer service alone has been great so far.

“frequent updates help alot”
Pros
AthenaOne keeps up with the constant changes in healthcare by rolling out updates regularly. It also provides training information at every step so you're not left guessing what to do next. The standout feature for me is the live chat which lets you get help and troubleshooting right away in real time.
Cons
Getting used to the back-end workflow for handling claims takes a bit of adjustment.

“legacy is the only usable part”
Pros
The Legacy system is the only component of this platform that I consistently use and actually like. It works well enough but instead of fixing the problems people have raised, they're planning to remove it rather than improve what's currently broken.
Cons
Honestly, there's a lot to unpack here. The community side used to be genuinely helpful for connecting with other users but it only feels useful when Athena decides your voice is worth hearing. Unless you're flattering the team, they don't really care about your comments or concerns. They keep merging or deleting complaints about the new UI and they won't ask users what they think before rolling out a system that doesn't work as intended. Also, the new setup is not even user-friendly. They'd rather limit your ability to comment and voice issues than take criticism and address a clearly broken community experience. It also feels like they keep sending the same scripted response that never answers what you asked, then tell you to send the complaint to their development team-only for you to receive yet another script that still doesn't address the actual problem. A bunch of concerns have also been left unsolved under the banner of "modernity," and their "help" section barely answers the questions people ask. Instead, it pushes links to videos and threads that don't actually answer the question you're trying to resolve. It's embarrassing at this point. Bottom line, you're probably better off spending your money with a company that actually listens to user feedback before launching a broken UI and provides real answers instead of copy-paste scripts.

“AR needs an upgrade”
Pros
I found the billing process in athenahealth to be fairly simple, both in terms of daily use and training new team members. The system simplifies otherwise complex billing tasks, making it manageable for different skill levels. While navigation is generally smooth, I feel that the addition of more shortcuts or quicker access to frequently used tools could further enhance the user experience, speeding up administrative work.
Cons
With athenaOne, you not only pay for the program but also for athena employees to handle your claims. However, I've found that they sometimes lack the skills and knowledge to effectively manage the accounts receivable (AR).

“5 Stars!! Highly recommended”
Pros
What I appreciate most about AthenaOne is its ease of use, combined with its strict adherence to HIPAA compliance. The platform’s design makes it easy to navigate and reduces the training period for new users. Knowing that it meets strict data protection standards gives me confidence in the security of patient information. These features make it a platform I would readily recommend to others in the healthcare field.
Cons
I really do not have anything negative to say about this software. It's great.

“Frustrating!!!”
Pros
The Legacy system is the only part of this system that I like and consistently use. It's satisfactory, but instead of addressing the issues we've requested to be fixed, they are getting rid of it.
Cons
Where do I begin? The community aspect used for communication with other users is only helpful if Athena values your input. If you're not praising them, they disregard your comments and concerns. They merge or delete complaints about their new user interface (UI) and implement a system that doesn't work without seeking user opinions. Moreover, their new system lacks user-friendliness. They prefer blocking you from commenting and expressing concerns rather than accepting criticism of a flawed system on the community page. On top of that, they respond with the same scripted answers that don't address your questions or concerns and redirect you to their development team, who then provides another scripted response. Not to mention the number of unresolved concerns and complaints in the name of "modernity" or how their 'help' section fails to answer most questions and instead provides links to useless videos and threads. It's truly embarrassing. Needless to say, it's wiser to invest in a company that values user opinions, implements a functional UI, and provides satisfactory answers.

Pros
The billing side of things is fairly easy to use and to train new people on. The navigation is alright but I wish there were a few more shortcuts to make it faster.
Cons

Pros
Honestly the only part of this system I like and use all the time is the Legacy system. It's alright but they're planning to get rid of it instead of fixing the issues we've been asking them to improve.
Cons
Where do I even start? The user community forum feels helpful only when Athena decides your voice matters. Unless you're praising them, they don't seem to care about your comments. They'll merge or delete complaints, especially about their new interface and they never asked us for our opinions before rolling out a system that just doesn't work. And the new system isn't even user-friendly! They'd rather block you from commenting than accept criticism. On top of that, their support just sends you the same scripted response that doesn't answer your question, then tells you to send complaints to their development team, who just send another script. So many problems go unsolved in the name of being "modern," and their help section is useless and it just links to videos and threads that didn't answer the question the first time. It's embarrassing. You're better off spending your money on a company that actually listens to its users.
