“amazing support but high pricing”
Pros
What really stood out to me was how the platform's systems work together. Plus the customer support team was amazing as whenever I had a question they responded right away and helped me immediately.
Cons
However the pricing is quite high and it was challenging to figure out exactly what I needed for my practice.

“strong aEHR”
Pros
AthenaOne feels like a true all-in-one EHR platform and it includes essentially everything you'd want from an EHR. If the goal is to consolidate multiple tools into a single system, AthenaOne is a solid choice.
Cons
The onboarding experience was the toughest part. Switching EHRs usually takes time but our original sales rep didn't set realistic expectations about how big and drawn-out the implementation would be. Be prepared to dedicate several full-time employees to integration work for a few months.

“billing is risky and indifferent to flaws”
Pros
AthenaOne reliably closes process loops and consciously routes clinical data to the correct places. I also noticed that they try to address customer feedback and suggestions which I can vote on in their Success Community online forum.
Cons
As an FQHC/CHC we chose this tool for our specific business model but they simply were not ready for us then and they remain unresponsive to the serious concerns we've raised. This has put us in a financially risky position. While the core EHR and scheduling functions are acceptable the billing and RCM components are failing and the new dental EHR is struggling too. The real cost is passed directly to our patients because Athena takes its fee off the top regardless of our reimbursement challenges. The most frustrating part is their apparent indifference to critical flaws. For example their system does not properly attach secondary payers, a feature that is absolutely vital for our low-income patient population. I expected them to care about something so fundamental to our mission but they don't.

“i liked it”
Pros
AthenaOne feels really cohesive-almost everything we need for managing medical records is built into one system, charting, patient communication, registration, portal access and more. The software is also simple to use, with workflows that are cleanly laid out and easy to tailor to our needs. Also, customer support has been excellent, getting help through chat or by phone is quick and painless.
Cons
A few workflows could use even more customization. For example, it would be great if the Exam portion of the five-step encounter could fit on a single page instead of requiring extra clicks to move to the next section (like going from HPI to ROS).

“AthenaOne is efficient secure and easy to use”
Pros
AthenaOne offers a comprehensive solution with nearly all the features needed for managing medical records charting patient communication registration portal access etc. all in one place. It is also known for its userfriendly design customizable workflows and accessible customer service through chat or phone.
Cons
Customizing certain workflows further like consolidating the Exam section into a single page during the fivestep encounter would be appreciated instead of having to navigate to the next page for each section.

“Best eMAR for Medical Offices”

Athena is highly userfriendly for all users simplifying the process of looking up patients and sharing information across multiple practices. A strong recommendation is made.

“strong for insurance billing needs”
Pros
athenaOne was a solid system that multiple coworkers had already relied on for their primary medical practices. The workflow and capabilities seemed to fit well for practices that handle things like insurance billing. That said, it didn't really match how our clinic operates since we don't bill insurance and we don't do e-prescribing for patients.
Cons
athenaOne is pretty feature-rich which is a positive if your practice uses insurance billing, claims management and e-prescribing. Our setup doesn't use those functions so the amount of detail felt like overkill and slowed down day-to-day operations. We ended up needing something much less tiring to run more efficiently.

“awful onboarding and missing essentials”
Pros
While the platform can work well after it's configured the initial setup is a nightmare as it was confusing and the so-called team they assign sometimes understands less about the product than I do. I felt post-implementation support was satisfactory but it arrives without any sensible set of prebuilt templates, reports, workflows or the basic items you'd expect to run a typical medical office. It's frankly not pleasant. Honestly I struggle to find anything I genuinely like about it. The workflows are not user friendly and there is not a simple daily dashboard showing activity, payments and similar essentials at all.
Cons
The software itself can be great once it is finally set up but the onboarding experience is awful and confusing. The team they assign you sometimes seems to know less about the platform than I do. While the support after implementation is okay, the real problem is that the system does not come ready to use. It is not preconfigured with a reasonable set of preformatted tools, reports or workflows. Basically none of the essentials you need to run a typical medical practice are there out of the box. It is disgusting.

“Mixed Feelings About the System”
Pros
Once the system is set up, it does seem to work well. The support after implementation is adequate and the system itself functions decently.
Cons
Setting up the system is a horrible and confusing experience. The team assigned to assist with setup often lacks sufficient knowledge about how the system works, making the process even more frustrating. Unfortunately, the system lacks essential pre-formatted tools, reports, workflows, and other necessary elements for operating a standard medical practice. Its non-intuitive workflows make it difficult to use, and there's no easy-to-access daily dashboard for activity and payments.
