“Review of Athena No longer used”
Pros
While AthenaOne was praised by colleagues in primary medical practice it wasn't a good fit for our practice where we don't handle insurance billing or eprescriptions.
Cons
AthenaOne is a comprehensive system tailored for practices that engage in insurance billing claims management and eprescribing. Unfortunately our practice doesn't utilize these features and requires a more streamlined system for optimal operations.

“No positives”
Pros
The font size made me laugh and I genuinely cannot think of any positives
Cons
Practically everything about it was annoying. The training was horrendous or you can say there was no training provided at all.

“billing & scheduling headaches”
Pros
The charts look like they're a strong point here-my doctor seems to like the charting tools. The patient portal is also decent enough to get by.
Cons
Billing and claims have been frustrating and the reporting features didn't feel dependable for what we needed. Schedule templating is another weak spot and customer service hasn't been very responsive when issues come up. There are also problems around MIP/Quality Measures that make the workflow harder than it should be.

“Tidy records with helpful photos”
Pros
My patient record sections are very tidy and I can click on common symptoms which saves me from typing. I also like the little photos next to each patient's name because they help me locate records more quickly and with less hassle. There is also a sign-in page listing all providers so I can easily see who reviewed the chart and who helped document the patient's care which keeps things organized.
Cons
I notice lag when I scroll through the various pages of a chart which can be frustrating. Communicating with the provider after I finish charting is not easy either and I often cannot tell whether the clinician has seen or signed off on the note. As per me a simple fix would be a clickable or written alert between the scribe and provider so we both know when a chart is done.

“Purple interface and easy scheduling”
Pros
I like the purple interface and overall it's fairly easy to use. I am a big fan of Athena Text. And scheduling feels like the simplest feature in the whole program. Tagging and organizing documents is also easy enough. Plus I love that verifying most insurance plans does not take very long in most cases.
Cons
For me the worst part is handling prescriptions. As I cannot close them and the only choice seems to be to deny prescriptions which has been a real nightmare. I also find replying to patient cases unnecessarily difficult.

“Mixed Bag with Some Likable Aspect”
Pros
I like the interfaces purple color and generally, the system is user-friendly. Athena text is a standout feature and scheduling within the program is quite easy. Additionally, labeling and organizing documents are relatively simple tasks. I also like the swift verification process for most insurances.
Cons
Unfortunately, Athena has a tendency to overcomplicate things unnecessarily. The prescription management is particularly frustrating as it doesnt allow for easy closure of prescriptions; instead, the only option is to deny them, causing headaches. Additionally, responding to patient cases is needlessly complicated.

“Good quality”
Pros
AthenaOne stands out because it brings an integrated suite of tools and services for managing a practice and supporting quality care. The medical record is comprehensive and simple to work with and the payment side feels properly organized. I also appreciate the clinical network integration which gives access to extra resources when needed. Also, the patient engagement features make it easier to stay connected with patients and improve overall care relationships.
Cons
The only drawback I ran into is the upfront cost-athenaOne can be a bit expensive to buy and roll out. There's also a chance you'll need additional training so your team can fully use everything the platform offers. Even so, the price and time investment has felt worthwhile given the long-term benefits it brings.

“Great resource for medical professionals”
Pros
I love how AthenaOne offers an all in one solution with a variety of tools and services for providers to excellently manage their practice and deliver high-quality care. The user-friendly medical record is thorough and payment processes are simplified. AthenaOne seamlessly integrates with a clinical network, providing access to extra resources. Furthermore, the patient engagement feature fosters stronger relationships and improves overall care.
Cons
While AthenaOne can be a bit costly to buy and implement, and may demand more training to take full advantage of its features, it ultimately offers long-term benefits that make the expense and time worth it.

“UI is clean”
Pros
This product has been a real win for me. It's simple to use from home or anywhere and it makes it easy to access my records and review my test results. Being able to pull that information up when I need it has helped me have clearer conversations with my doctor too. It's the kind of convenience you can actually use in everyday life.
Cons
The only downside I've noticed is that there's no after-hours service if you run into questions outside regular support hours. Other than that, it's been really good overall-I'm genuinely happy with it.

“Extremely well structured Software”
Pros
I believe this is the best EMR software in the market for claim scrubbing. Ease of creating order sets and working in clinical. Easy to use and very intuitive user interface.
Cons
The reporting is so good that sometimes I need more support to ensure I am selecting the correct criteria which is not really a disadvantage but still. Overall, I am delighted to be utilizing the full prowess of this software.

“Outstanding from a clinical standpoint”
Pros
From a clinical standpoint Athena is outstanding. They partner closely with clients to improve the product and modernize workflows as it grows. After I started using it the platform felt fairly user friendly. I also like that the team consistently puts in the effort to help the community succeed.
Cons
As a direct-pay practice our metrics don't line up with the KPIs it typically monitors so we had to adapt. We did reach out to the support and took part in their training to try to bridge that gap yet ultimately we were the ones who had to develop the solutions ourselves. Also we discovered and implemented several workarounds to make the system function for our model. The whole process felt really challenging and tiring at first and through implementation but in the end it paid off because our workflows are now efficient so everything turned out fine.

“Billing section needs major change”
Pros
Athena Health tells me which codes to pick when I handle the task manager list but that is the only benefit it provides.
Cons
The billing section needs a major change. Currently only about 25% of the procedure codes we rely on are available to build patient surgical cost estimates. And because the system lacks many CPT codes, I cannot produce an accurate estimate of what patients are supposed to pay the surgeon. This gap forces us to file extra claims and often the facility has to reimburse the patient for what they paid to the clinic before reimbursing us the correct amount.
